My First Royal!!!

I hit one live once, in a £5 re-buy tournament about 25 years ago in the Rainbow Casino in Birmingham. Luckily for me it was just after they announced "last 3 hands for buy in's."

The table went nuts with about 6 or 7 players going all in before it got back round to me, in the BB. I looked down and saw J,10 of clubs and being relatively short stacked thought F it and shoved all in as well.

All the cards were on their backs and the dealer turned the flop: AKQ all clubs... there was uproar. I don't think they even bothered dealing the turn and river!

Not surprisingly I went on to make the final table that night!

I've played live for just over 33 years and have only ever hit that one. Though I once won a pot in a cash game that had so much money piled up in the middle, that a circus dog would of had trouble jumping over it.

I hit the K-9 straight flush (on the turn) also in clubs and some poor bugger had the Ace flush and didn't even spot that he could be beaten, till it was too late. Some one else had flopped 2 pair and the fourth player in the pot had hit trips!

I don't know if you have a thread called "what was the biggest pot you've ever won" but if you do, that was mine. At the time I was earning about £80 per week and there was just over £600 in the pot.

I'd guess it would be worth about £6,000 in today's terms. I know I didn't go to work for the next couple of days after that.
