Aye, just thinking as it turned out he wasn't in such a bad situation.

Since reading this thread I've been watching a few high stakes cash tables on Paradise, there seems to be quite a bit of checking and calling, apart from yourself and a couple of others. Do you think that's because of being scared of the stakes or have I just seen a lot of trapping/drawing?

Great thread and well done btw

I think it can be both, at the stakes you must sometimes tread carefully. Depends the table/players. i played two 25/50 games last night and they were pretty crazy ( although i must take some responsability for loosening them up as i had 1 or 2 too many) but if you have 5 tight players the action is limited.

his min raise looks like a value bet as its likely to scare you off so I would hope he has a boat but a lesser flush at least so i would bet the pot and hope for a re raise or alternatilely a big over sized bet to look like a steal and then pray he dont fold but prob my first choice

Think I might stick a massive overbet and pray that he had a big hand hoping he would see it as a steal and reraise or pay me off if he's a bit of a mouse. The other guy got in the pot for nothing and could have a 2 a full house, a flush, quad 2's or a straight.

I dare say theres a mathematical answer to why there appears to be so many straight flushes short handed. Didnt see the hand the other day just the outcome in the chat box and it said you showed a straight flush and so did the other guy but he won the pot. I take it yours was on the board and you tried to represent the upper side of it, unfortunatley he actually had it.

Well, if it was me playing, I'd have been chuffed to raise by 900 and have him pay me off rather than fold, but the answer is probably to raise by in excess of 2000.

No i had the low end of it. 2345 on board i had the ace, he had the 6. I have lost 5 times with a straight flush...Amazing.

I'd bet his whole stack, to make it look like a big steal. If he has a boat he's definitely gonna call thus you gain the max! Quite often I'll make big bets on the river when I have the nuts depends on the opponent and the situation of course.

Ok here is how i saw it. he had 1 of 3 hands- a bluff, a set or a flush. if he is on a bluff it doesnt matter what i bet. if its a set he would call a 1k bet and a half chance at the all in ( too many dangers, but you never know). if he has the flush he will call the all in, unlikley he will put it down.

He couldnt have quads, straight, or full house because he would have def raised the turn.

My point to this is many people would bet 1k and get paid but they are missing a great opportunity

MANOUEL All-in 3219.00

the_mole [As, 3s] Straight flush Win: 6935.00
MANOUEL Fold Win: 0.00
Celakovika Fold Win: 0.00
smörrebröd Fold Win: 0.00

Hi Mole,

That's very true in my case - I try to entice more money out of them thinking they'd fold if I raise too high!

Two years ago I'd have gone all in and got paid - now I probably think too much about whats going on!

Nice thread and good to see you're still doing well!

Hopefully our paths will cross again for another beer (or two)

(still remember that deal with the lighter to the bloke with the hat!)

Just the one question from me - are you still on paid sick leave?

TQM

I don't know what he had ( auto muck). $3 is the most rake taken from any hand.

I always used to play 10 man tables until I started reading Moles thread, and TBH was doing OK multi tabling 3/4. But since I've read this thread I've begun 6 Seaters and apart from having a good run, I'm finding it less of a grind, and less of the cards you play and more of the people.

Following on from that I would appreciate thoughts (from Mole, or anyone else) if I played these wrong and got lucky or played them correctly and got my just reward.
I haven't looked up to see if I was doing the correct thing statistically - but on both occassions 'felt' it was the correct thing to do

The first fellow had a tendency to overbet the pot quite a lot and had previously been all-in on a T96 flop holding 22 and hit the set on the Turn
