Default Ever been banned for bad behaviour?

I found this exchange on another forum, and couldn't stop laughing. I'm still not sure whether the second guy really thought the first guy was being serious ...

The topic of the thread was "Have you ever been thrown out of a casino or card room for bad behaviour?"

Quote:
I got kicked for bringing 2 firearms into a casino and then after playing for several hours got tired of holding them in my holster on my back and put them on the table, no one noticed for a while until I started cleaning them and they kicked me, something about the fire arm discharging bla bla bla.

... why would you bring firearms into a casino, and then expose them to other players? Can you explain your rationale behind that?

Really, I'm waiting for the follow up post where he says it's a joke.

I kid a lot, I love doing it but I did do this and Jon is right the table image is classic. I was going for the Wild Bill Hickhock thing. Where he pulls his peacemakers out and says, "I have a pair of 6's." I find that I get bluffed at a great deal less and my raises go unchallenged. If I am in a pot where someone seems to be making a move, I just begin sliding rounds into my favorite table toy, and they straighten right up. If someone takes down a pot after I fold, I always ask for a show, and I always get it.....except for this one guy we call 7 finger Bill now, it is a fond nickname everyone appreciates it, even him. So if you see someone 6'5'' with strawberry-blonde hair and a Mr. Legendary hat on, when I raise.....well I think everyone gets the picture.

No, I guess I don't get the picture. You must play with poor players who are also pushovers. If that's the case - and I believe you - you don't need to bully them like that - there are easier, more effective ways to win that also wouldn't scare the shit out of the players. I think a fair number of recreational Poker Joes would quickly leave that table when they saw someone loading a handgun over a $15 pot.

The real question here... what do you do when you encounter *gasp* a good player? Who dares to call you - oh my, even RAISE you! - or takes advantage of his right to keep the cards from you after you have folded?

It seems to me that you might look awfully foolish when someone doesn't feel threatened by you. Instantly your table image would be busted and, for the better players, you're begging them to walk all over you. Also, from reading your posts, I got the impression that you are a player who is successful at low limits - correct me if I am wrong, but from your posts about online tournaments success, most seem to be modest buy ins (I am not criticizing you, I believe in playing games you can win - no point in playing a game that is too tough or expensive, unless you can afford it). I imagine you play equivalent limits in person. Is it really necessary to behave like this at a 2/4 or 4/8 table?

What do you do when you encounter a player who just... isn't intimidated by you or, to put it crudely but succinctly, doesn't give a **** that you're twice his size or packing heat? Believe it or not, they're out there.

One more point - I do not live in Colorado, but have done a fair amount of work with a peer of mine who is a member of the Bar of CO. I seem to remember - and, as always, correct me if I am mistaken - that you need a permit to carry a concealed weapon in CO. From reading your posts I gathered that you are 20, and the minimum age for the permit is 21. You may not want to gamble on an illegal possession charge here... it's a hell of a bad thing to have on your record, Drew. If you enjoy firearms, you'll be disappointed when you are never allowed to carry a handgun in CO for the rest of your natural life... or you'll be disappointed when you aren't hired for a decent job because of having been convicted of a felony. Not to mention having to pay a lawyer-prick like me an unreasonable amount of money to deal with the situation.

If I am correct about these regulations, why do you take such a risky chance? I mean, we're all gamblers here... but that's a pretty high-risk/low-reward situation to me. I'm interested in your thoughts.

It is too bad you have never been to CO, it is the great wild west out here. Rattlesnacks, saloons and showdowns at high noon with peacemakers. Legality of a firearm? We dotn mind such non-sense out here, this is the land of the free and the land of the brave. You think my carrying a firearm is crazy then you should meet my horse Sasafras, he is my trusted companion on the plains and mountains of Colorado. We ride up to the hill, and he saved my life, just last week I was attacked by a group of hostile engines on Pikes Peak Trail, he took me to safety . Nothing like a horse that will save you from a violent band of indians with complete disregard for his life.

I guess I'm confused from you saying "I kid a lot, I love doing it but I did do this and Jon is right the table image is classic" in your previous post. That's why I'm interested. I have been to Denver many times, btw. My ex is from there. Great place, but I didn't take it to be the Wild West.

I love nothing more than making people laugh, so I am humbled you found my antics funny. Most of the time I think people just find my stupid comments irritating at best. Thank you.

It's kinda funny that you decided to take the "just kidding" way out after saying you did it. So what's the real story? You can't say you did it *and* say it was just a joke. You've completely dodged my questions. If it's a strategic move for you - which you explained it to be one - I of course want to know why you did it and what you would do if it didn't work.

Lol, I could go on for days with this one. I used to work in a casino, and I was constantly amazed at the new level of stupidity that people reached in doing things that got them barred from returning. I've seen more fistfights than I can remember, and had a guy look me in the eye once and say, "I'm going out to my truck to get my gun. I'm not going to kill you, though." YIKES!

My personal favorite was the morning that two men in their NINETIES (yes, really! I logged them into the player rewards system every day, and it showed their ages) got into a knock-down drag-out fight in a $1-$5 hi-lo stud game. I mean, they were really going at it. Security had to come pry them apart and everything. They were both asked to leave and I didn't see them again.

I've also seen folks get barred for generally gross behavior, like playing so long without a break that they actually wet themselves in the seat, on multiple ocassions. Yuck.

Being more used to the 'rough & tumble' of pub & home game play, I managed to drop the F-bomb rather loudly in the MGM Grand poker room in Vegas when my flopped Full House was cracked by Quads. (No I hadn't been drinking).

The silence was deafening until the Floor Manager came over and very calmly and politely pointed out the error of my ways to me.

Even embarrased as I was after being called away from the table, I am proud(?) to say I resumed my seat and offered profuse apologies to the dealer and other players and we all got back to business.

A few minutes later the guy to my right leaned over and said that the same thing had happened to him on his first poker trip. It's all part of the learning experience.

I read this story in a magazine (Bluff Europe I think).

It was the beginning of a tournament and Dave Ulliott was sat with another pro, and while waiting for the 'shuffle up and deal' he proceeded to tell a rude joke.

Just as he gets to the punchline the dealer starts dealing. Before the dealer finished Ulliott delivers the f-word laden punchline. The dealer stops mid-shuffle and calls the floor manager, who threatens Ulliott with a penalty.

Ulliott protests, claiming that the tournament hadn't started has the cards for the first hand hadn't been dealt. The floor manager accepts this, but with a warning regarding future conduct. Ulliott then asks the manager whether saying the c-word is against the rules and incur a penalty. The Floor Manager hesitantly replies that no, it isn't specifed in the rules.

Ulliott thanks him, returns to his seat, looks at the dealer and says, "You're a cnut!"
