Default Challenge 4: What shall I do?

Any suggestions?
Anyone want to challenge me?

If you have proposals - I want them to be SMART....
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Timely (Not too fussed about timely - but you can add a time constraint too if you like)

Please consider my prudent approach to bankroll management - that doesn't mean I'm not prepared to put money down to get started if it makes sense, but in general my goals are to either build an amount from a low starting point, or to develop my game....

I used to be quite successful at laddies micro stakes cash tables, so my own consideration is maybe to try a similar challenge to my boss one, but on the laddies 6 seat tables...

Challenge 4....

MTT challenge....

Your call but Id go for $5 + $0.50 freezeouts preferably with a Guarantee

Starting bank $110 or $220

and see what you can turn it into...

NO REBUYS

Whatever you make in the first round - Bank half and start again

Urgh, thought I'd seen the last of SMART targets when I left work and stopped doing appraisals.

I have a s t r e t c h i n g one for you, but it probably fails 'R'.

One day a week away from the tables. If you want it time-bound do it for 3 months. Do something different, preferably without earning potential and preferably not catching up on your poker magazines/books, and come back buzzing and eager to play the next day.

Why not have a go at the $27 SnGs on Stars, we all saw the guy fail on his $10k challange, but set yourself a 6 month target to win enough to pay for a main event seat at the WSOP. $10k shouldn't be out of your reach surely ? I think you have the game for it.

You may have to do my suggestion on Pokerstars or Full Tilt but heres my suggestion - the theory behind it that it should hopefully improve your range of games.

Deposit $50 - on one of those sites and run it up to $1k profit (you can re-invest twice if you go bust, but only another $50 at a time and those count towards the profit) - cash/tourneys/HU or STT

Make the $1k by playing any variant of Poker except Hold'Em(No Limit Holdem on its own either)

The maximum profit from a single Variant must be $250 (so if you go re-invest you'll need at least 5 variants) - anything over that figure (i.e in the case of a tourney win) does not count towards your overall $1k profit. Although you can spread the profit over as many variants as you wish as long as none exceeds $250

HORSE/HOSE/HA or any combination mixed games as those counts as a single variant.

although i.e Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo are obviously 2 variants.

Other bits I've not defined , you can amend as you like

Have to be honest - if I won $10,000 cash, the last thing I'd spend it on would be a WSOP Main Event seat - too much money to invest "real" cash (even if it is pure profit).....

That's just a mental thing though, if you look at the entire challange as a big long sat or qualifier to the WSOP then it's not real money.

The WSOP is the ultimate challange in your sport, your game is good from what I've seen, certainly better than people who I know have played in the main event over the past few years. You deserve to be there.

I firmly believe people on PL overestimate my poker ability - I got a reasonable TAG game going which has given me a fair number of good results, but I'm a "one trick pony" - I can't play post flop, I cant read my opponents....my pre flop aggression gets me through by avoiding tough decisions - good as far as it goes, but has its limits......

If you can get in free then fine let someone pay, but win $10k and then enter, GaFs right its a complete waste of a hard earned cash.

I'm sure you remember the 6 handed tourneys on Parbet.
Anything you could do to use your skills at those types of games?

Short-handed MTT project?

Or are you a bit like me, only really able to beat freerollers and cash game players in MTT'S.

If this is the case then why not challenge yourself to master these aspects of the game, one of the first things I did when starting out was try to put people on hands (or a basket of hands as Harrington would have it) I found by watching a game closely I could most times be very accurate about what an opponent had.

I find the biggest problem with post flop play is the donkeys calling when they shouldn't even though you're playing well. Unfortunately in a typical online game there is very little room for good play, i.e. playing one hand properly and getting outdrawn can leave you seriously damaged.

My main suggestion would be to get into the casinos and play live where you have more time to think and more information to accumulate.

Qualify for an ept-dortmund end of jan or copenhagen mid feb or montecarlo in april and then see how you get on in one of these.
