Angry American Law applies in the UK

Anybody had a problem registering for poker co's with an AOL ip address

Betway say they can't register me because the American law says they have to block ip addresses from AOL. I suggested they can check and see my location is in the UK but to no avail.

Their solution is to switch ISP that's ok and I may want switch in the future but I'm signed up for 12 months.

I have had the same problem with Betway since yesterday .
I'm with AOL, but never had any problems.
I have to say, my Betway poker works fine. But when I'm trying to login in a sportsbook comes error "wrong location".
That was respond to my complaint:

Dear,
Probably your IP address is american and therefore you cannot log in. Try to log in from another IP and you will succeed.
Kind regards

That means, if I want to place a bet, they expect me to run 3 miles to internet cafe . Never mind. I will do it with other bookie.

The only problem is, when I want to withdraw money from poker. I has to be done from sportsbook . Well, I might go for a run then.

I had been looking into redirecting US traffic, and read at a couple places that all AOL users are treated as if they are from the US. I don't know much about proxies, but are you able to use an anonymous proxy server to visit the sites?

Ah, I guess that wouldn't work for if you were trying to play on a downloaded version. I guess the solution is to ditch AOL.

thumbsdown Re: American Law applies in the UK

Created a Betway account at work and tried it at home but still refused access. I am committed to AOL for another 10 months so Betway will have to struggle on without me.

Thank you for your responses

Hi Silver

Quite simply, i refuse to play on any sites that make it difficult for me to:

1) sign up
2) deposit easilly
3) cash out easilly

there are thousands of sites out there that will be happy for you to join using your AOL connection from the UK so dont worry and just ignore betway, there loss m8
