Question 2006, so how was it for you?

Ok guys, we approaching the end of the year.
I know some people might not like this sort of treads, but I'm sure theres no harm in announcing overall profit.

Our poker community is more like family, so feel free to post if you wish so.

One thing I must say, my play this year have been completely and totally dependent on my financial situation.
I couldn't deposit money nearly nowhere, so in many places I started from scratch.
Its hard to imagine, but most of my money came from our favorite Boss .
My biggest win this year was $900. Hmmm.
On SO I help myself with betting, but poker have bigger share of it. Total winnings on SO (still there or withdrawn) are around $2k.
I must admit, my biggest success was building nice banks without deposits on poker.co.uk and Virgin. $1.1 on 1st and $1.5k on 2nd. PartyPoker around $700.
And I have some cash on 5-7 poker sites bringing my overall profit for this year to around $5.3k .
Is that enough? I have to say with Irish accent, it's grand .
It's absolutely great addition next to work, as It pays bills and holidays.
Non cash winnings from poker? Well, got ipod and few other small prizes. But the best, was my two days trip to Stockholm, which I won thanks to our Poker Player magazine . Trip itself was worth around £1.5k.
Any wishes for New year? Just the same sort of year would be perfect.

I'm privileged to be part of the best community on the net and its pleasure to play you guys at the tables.
My special thanks goes to Paul, Trevor, Sam and Andy for their help when needed it in hard times .

Remember guys, still few weeks to go, so dont go and blow your hard earn profit before New Year.
I'm off to Poland next week and coming back on 5th of January, so I'm going to miss hell of a lot good tourneys over Christmas .
Nevertheless, I hope you all have a great Christmas.

to more winnings and less bad beats in New Year.

crap - thanks for asking

actually it hasn't been bad, MY BR went from $200 this time last year to about $4000K at its peak - I then played cash games....... and have lost around 60% of it in less than 2 months

So I am back playing STT's and focusing on MTT's again

Learnt some important lessons this year and I would say that I am the better player for it - have managed to find my focus and realise what games I am better at than others - I just need to resolve how to properly step up and win consistently at higher buy-in STT's and make those crucial plays at MTT's that get me onto the FT

Nice thread

Damo
ps actually I guess you can add about a grand (£) to that as poker paid for the holiday we had earlier in the year

i would say i made some decent ones this year . Actually improved my plays this yr though . My Personal best was $600 i think in the mansion blackjack raked hands one . Made a couple of decent finishes here and there .

Sports betting was not good for me this year though . Too much variances in it .

So whether i'm up or not , not too sure myself

Its hard trying to get a bankroll up by playing freerolls , but i'll keep on trying .

Resolution for next year , get myself involved in playing for bigger prize money .

Unfortunately, poker has had to take a back seat this year. I came close to failing an exam last year because of it so something had to give. Sadly, poker ain't gonna pay the bills!

I've made a couple of hundred $ but couldn't say how much exactly as I lost my spreadsheet when my hard drive packed in. I've found myself playing cash tables and STT's purely because of time limitations but I reckon I'm more successful at MTT's.

Hopefully, there will be some light at the end of the qualification tunnel next year and I can finally get to spend some time playing more poker. No doubt tho' that the kids and the missus will have something to say about that!!

2006 was my first year of playing poker at a serious level, certainly well into profit, as I've never put a penny of my own cash in.

Highlights, the US$1,495 for taking first place in the PL Virgin freeroll is still a personal best. The UZ$610 for second palce in a live sat is another.

2nd place in my East Auckland poker league is another highlight, I made about NZ$600 from it, but more important was getting practice of playing live every week, improving my game and getting respect from other players. Some people have been known to moan when I move to their table, which cheered me up no end.

My online play has been patchy, after 500+ Stt's I'm exactly where I started, a lot of this is down to laziness on my part, playing at the wrong time, after a few beers, whilst distracted, not following my own rules etc etc...

I consider 9 player STT's to be essential solved as a problem, if I play by my rules I know I can make money.

Hears to next year

Oh dear, here goes.....

I started off the year thinking I was the dog's swingers and the best thing to hit online poker since, erm, online poker.

Then I took a right downer, and (assuming this is anecdotal I can tell Gaf? to shove his 'no bad beats' up his arse) struggled to cope with losing when I was getting my money in when ahead. I played through it purely to experience it for it's full horror, although I think it cost me 80% of my bankroll.

However despite this I won a free trip to Ibiza (which I couldn't take ), enough cash to maintain a small bankroll and buy 3 computers. I shouldn't have to use my bankroll in 2007 for anything other than poker and indulgences, so I'm looking forward to having a good crack at pushing myself.

Overall though I feel as though I have been overtaken by so many people on here and I've gone from a bloody good player to a distinctly average one.

On a slightly different note I've started to play freezeouts (NOTE TO EnT - FREEZOUTS!!!!) at my local casino, and I think I have the confidence to play a good game live. In fact I think I'm a better live player than online player due to the less hands and having more thinking time.

My main aim for 2007 apart from playing some part in the WSoP (which is still a dream rather than a plan) is to contain my emotions better. I need to realise that I can play a good game and still lose.

Default Re: 2006, so how was it for you?

I was only able to start taking my poker seriously again towards the end of the year due to my big move over the border so it's been a quiet year up until October.

Before then, I hadn't made any inroads and any money I won was either blown on the GeeGees, used to pay off my credit card bill for the month, or deposited into my bank account. Sadly, the first option was the way most of it went

However, come October I decided to sit down and start taking it seriously and went along to my local casino (Aspers) and started in tournament. My first tournament at the place provided me with a 3rd place finish in a £20r/b and £700 after doing a deal. A final table on my second time gave me enough to start building up a bankroll, and since my finances were settled after the move, it was the right time to do it. I play at Aspers at least once a week and have managed to take my initial buy in to the first tournament and increase it around 100-fold.

My online play has been 99% cash games and I've seen my bankroll increase 10-fold. I've withdrawn bits and pieces so I can treat myself and pay for my holiday next summer, so I'm happy enough.

I'm extremely pleased with how my play has come along this year. I feel I've become an extremely strong live player (especially after the APAT event and the PP Grand Prix) and I've recgonised I can make money playing short-handed cash games.

2006 was also the year I learned the importance of rakeback.

For 2007, I just want to get my bankrolls (live and online) to a level where I'm able to fund my holiday, pay for all my bests during Cheltenham and buy me and my girlfriend some nice things, all while having enough to play poker at my leisure. Luckily, I think I'm half-way there.

Not a bad year

4th in Champ League final In London $4k
VIP tickets to champs league Final
Free trip to Ibiza
WSOP Main Event, chuffed to get to day two, next year i want to cash!
1st in William hill £12K for £3.2K

Few wins here and there on a few tables, so not a bad year, although having my car trashed cost me a lot of my winnings

This year has been my first proper year of on-line poker.
I have learnt a lot... mainly that I hate being outdrawn and that luck always favours the other guy when I'm all-in...

I have had a few high spots.
Won around $1K on freerolls, mainly BOSS, in total but no tourney wins.
Have been trying cash games and am making a steady but small profit at the moment. Struggling to step up to the next level but it's a mental block on my part so more reading and more aggression.

My game has improved but looking at the results for the rest of you guys I'm still a long way behind... but enjoying the challenge!
Hopefully I will get more involved in PL games next year but with the family and other commitments poker has taken a back seat.
PL has certainly helped my game... cheers guys!

Looking forward to next year with high hopes!

Not bad, i think

I have started playing poker in March this year. I won my first $2 in freeroll on bet365. When i reached $85 I had 800BB down-swing (down to $5), which was good leason for me.
Now I have cca. $300 on my account - without a single deposit

I still have A LOT to learn and to improve my game.
I play mostly cash games, but had some good results in MTT too, which I plan to play more in 2007

GL all and happy 2007!

Firstly let me put my hands up and confess I mainly play freerolls and a few low buy-in tourneys. The biggest entry fee I've ever paid is £20.

I'm a meticulous bastid when it comes to record keeping, something to do with my IT background I think.

I started playing internet poker late in 2003. My cash outs (net of any deposits) have been as follows:

2003 - £10.22
2004 - £730.51
2005 - £1,277.68
2006 to date - £3,042.69

I've been such a spawny git this year winning freerolls to a side event at the Irish Open in Dublin, the Ibiza weekend with the poker room whose name we cannot speak, and the Betfair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore.

My results for 2006 include the money I received to pay for flights to Dublin and Singapore but do not include the entry fees to the tourneys in Dublin or Singapore or the cost of hotels and hospitality which were settled by the respective poker rooms at all three events.

So 2006 has been absolutely fantastic for me poker wise. Myself and the good lady have taken some holidays we otherwise wouldn't of had.

Can 2007 be even better poker wise? Of course not. I have been outrageously lucky. I have had more than enough luck to cover me till the end of the century. A few of you have also won some nice trips (Washy, MCFC, runa) plus there were a load of us in Ibiza. I hope that some of you that have had little luck in 2006 inherit some from me in 2007. And if you do and you need someone to carry your bags, give us a shout.

Tremendous Year for me, only really been keeping track since april, but just done some sums and at the moment ive won more than i actually thought! A lot of luck, jamminess and 1 amazing month where i basically couldnt do no wrong, followed by a 2 month winless streak, which although didnt cost me much, i never won anything which made me re-assess my game!

V points = 2 wins, 2 seconds, 1 fifth = $1596
Sporting odds MTTs(inc pl leagues) = $1900
Full Tilt = $420 + 2 caps, 2 t-shirts and umbrella and a hendon mob chip set
Goal Poker = 2 football tournies, ibiza holiday, inside edge comp = $3000 approx
VC/Maxim = MKOP Final tourney finished 8th
Celtic Poker = 2 old firm derby tickets = $500
PL Live Games = 1 win and 1 shared win = $300 + chipset(ta slick)

and loads more lil games inc safety net, boss 4k etc so around a total of..........

$7700 in winnings!!!!!!
