Up and down.

Up - Starting the year in fine form, many live, taking approx £4k in live pot limit games, hit my online personal best by doing a deal on the final table in a $30 deepstacks on pokerstars for just over $2k.

My pokerdb entry for pokerstars, records me as having 80 cashes, 15 final tables and just over $5K in regular tournament winnings, which doesnt include sats for ept,wpt and wsop events

My friday night live playing as me down for just over £1k winnings from tournament play

Also records show that Ive made money withdrawals on pokerstars, virgin and sportingodds aswell as still having money in titan and betfred

Down - My records show Ive actually deposited more than Ive withdrawn in the last 6 months - mainly down to a silly august.

Sharkscope shows me as $400 down in STTs on pokerstars - so thats where the tournament winnings went !!! Although the ROI is still positive, the graphs show good at games under $20, but unsuccesful at games over.

In summary, financially I dont think I'm better off, although have done a lot of things, been to vegas, played in 6 different UK casino's around the country, invested in a new library of poker reading, learnt to play and be succesful at new games, have met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun.

So now, I know how to play, time to win those sat finals I keep getting to and make this poker lark pay.

Been doing his for 5 years and I withdraw £400 every month from my Neteller account. It's gettin harder every year due to the increased information available to every one on how to play the game and to be honest I hate the game now, but I need the money.
It suits my family set up with the wife being the bread winner and the kids still being young enough to need me in the house.
MTTs are a big drain on my bank roll, but I still play them in the hope of a big win and being able to chuck the game for a month ot two. Perhaps I should give them a miss and take next December off
Also won CL for a wee shot at the big boys in Luton which was fun and I sold my two free hats from the hummer freeroll for £44 on ebay.
So £4844 for me and some free beer and food in luton, not too bad I guess.

I'm a bit like Gaf really,i don't keep any records.
I haven't beat my PB this year but have had plenty of wins up to i think my highest of £600.
Just had new windows fitted and i didn't pay for them
Highlight was winning the 42 inch Plasma (arriving this Friday)
3 years in now and i'm still making stupid mistakes.I can take the bad beats as they are part of the game, but beat myself up so to speak when i make them
Qualified for the City A.M tournament but couldn't make it so gave my seat to Gazza (still never played a live game )
I'm never going to make it pay as a cash player so i'm sticking to tournaments.
Hoping for a fantastic end to the year when i win the $100,000 Crypto game on the 30th December
In summary another great year playing a game that i love but remembering that i love my family a great deal more.
Warning this game can and will take over your life if you let it!!!
$4500 on Betfair

Well as 2006 was my first serious year at playing poker, I don't think i've done too bad at all as I look back.

Short handed STT's were my main game early on in the year and they were ticking along nicely. May came and I was lucky enough to get a substitute spot in the live Betfair City AM Finals and astonishingly finished 2nd for £1500. I think it was the month later when I qualified for a 50up $3k freeroll on SO and yet again finished 2nd for $590 I think (record keeping must improve) So with the small but steady STT profit plus those decent combined wins of approx $3,300 it was looking great.
With good things planned for the 2nd half of the year, it all went a bit Pete Tonge . A monumental run of losses, followed by some serious ill discipline hit my 'roll hard. I found that I wasn't playing because I was really looking forward to a game. But whenever I had time, I was logging in through habit and just playing for playing sake, minus my brain most of the time .
I'm still showing a reasonable profit though and i've cut the silly games out. I'm really going to try to improve my MTT game in the new year but that's always been a patience problem on my part more than anything else.

Poker wise 2006 has been an excellent year for me with a total profit for the year of around $20,000.

It has to be said the vast majority of my winnings have come as a direct benefit of PL, including the $14,300 won through the league on that absolute skin we all hate. So a big to all PL from me.

By far my most profitable game is MTTs managed a few bucks on STTs and so far losing overall on cash but slowly getting better.

Next year I need to start keeping better records of cash and stt games to try and improve my profits on these. As far as MTTs go I want to slowly build up to bigger buy in games. If I manage to end next year up even a quarter of this years total I'll be a happy man.

to virtually everyone who has posted in this thread. Your achievements in 2006 are where I want to be in 2007 and 2008.

I had been playing on and off for a few months, but only started to take it relatively seriously (ie. no post-pub sessions!!) a few months ago.

Results wise, my bankroll has gone up. I originally put in $100, I've taken out $150 and have about $300 over various sites. Hardly setting the world on fire, but hopefully the first steps towards something a bit bigger. Joining PL, being involved in a variety of discussions, and playing against better players (you lot!) has seen a huge positive inpact on my game.

Merry Xmas to you all, and good luck in 2007!!

Started 'properly' in May - with a $30 deposit never had need to deposit since.

A steady profit most months,(although 2 losing months in summer) mainly from STT's but a nice $250 win in one of the PokerGod heats boosted my Bankroll this year to $800 + although some of that includes Bonuses etc.

I've already set myself 11 targets for 2007 (see blog for details), and hope to achieve them all - well you've got to think positive haven't you??

The best online thing I did pokerwise was joining this forum - the advice, banter, tourneys make the whole Poker thing a more enjoyable experience.
(Thanks Burnley Joe for mentioning this forum during some banter in the break of one of the Poker Player/Betfair Freerolls)

I also played my first live game late on this year at 'The Middle Club', and anyone who lives in the Derbyshire-Notts area who wishes a live game in a freindly relaxed atmosphere - i would recommend it whole heartedly (Thanks Lou and Mike, and the other Middle Clubbers on here)

Good Luck to all for the New Year.

I spend most of my time lurking (sorry!!) but figured since so much of my learning has come from this site I'd best post and say cheers for all the help!

I first started playing poker this March, and still remember a month or so later telling steveadam23 a bad beat story (one of the first things I learned was to stop that) rather than explain the full story, the conclusion was I folded my full house on the river after being convinced my opponent had luckily hit the nut flush... . When he stopped laughing he set me straight, but it was pretty embarrassing!!!

Since then, using only a free $10 at dream and lots of bonuses from that french site (777?), I've paid for my spending money in Vegas in October and rebuilt my bankroll since then to just shy of $1000. I'm still hopeless at cash games and the early stages of MTTs, so thats the goal for 2007. Oh, and I don't track results in STTs properly, so hopefully doing that will help my improve further.

Anyway, just posting to say thanks to everyone in the poker forum pages, its really helped me a lot - and made me a few quid in the process!

For me its been an education in my first year on the game of poker, with so many good players coming from this site , ive learned a lot from playing against you and from the many helpful posts put on here.
Ive managed to win 4 tourneys ...3 champions league rounds and a cardnorge player ( all 4 having been short stacked on final table, not sure what that tells me yet..lol ). Mainly ive stuck to playing STT's ...mostly $5 ..started off well enough, but i then began playing too many of them and hit a few losing streaks, but the last couple of months or so ive managed to pull it back a bit. Reading through the posts in this section shows me the level some are on here, which can only help my game and others like me, once again thank you for all your help....great site and great people.

Best of luck everyone for 2007....

Transitional year for me.
Started off playing STT's (which I'm good at) - won quite a lot.
Then thought I'd try the limit cash game - went on tilt too many times - and lost a lot of my bankroll.
Went back to STT's - built it up again.
Had the second littl'un - and now I'm trying to learn the no-limit cash game.
Overall in profit - but if I'd just played STT's - it could have been very good. (something to be learnt there me thinks)

My first year playing poker and it has been a good one.

Started off playing STT's on William Hill, built bankroll from £20 to about £200. Thought this game was easy then seemed to plateau, went back down to about £60 and then got it back to about £200.

Then down loaded site which had VIP tickets for Newcastle games to be won. You know the one that scored an own goal and went bust. Anyway won about 5 pairs of VIP during last season approx £150 a ticket, so worth £1500.
Then managed to make it to their live final in london, came 3rd for $6000 and went to see Arsenal lose to Barcelona VIP style in the European Cup final in Paris, worth a bob a too. But this is where I discovered PL as 4 out of 10 of the players were PL (fenner, MCFC, Washman, BDaveG), all had a great few days and got well pished, Burnley Joe and manbag were also there and joined PL too.

Since then have played MTT's almost exculsively, have about 20 poker sites on my desktop from following the best value as recommended on the threads on PL. Must thank everyone at PL for all work in making this into a great community to be involved in.

Not sure what my winnings are on MTT to be honest, but won my first MTT on mansion for $700 not long ago.

Definately my new years resolution would be to keep records, just to see which level is the most profitable.

Anyway all in all been and very good year, hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I've only recently joined here but will post anyway.

At the min my account stands at over $1.5k on betfair.
I started to play poker just over a year ago and at the start of year till about march-may i wasnt making money at all....but since then i've been pretty hardcore when it comes to poker and all i do is play poker now.

I won 3 2k poker comps in ireland this year which i'm really pleased about. Wasnt the best of competition to tell u the truth but never the less a win is a win...regardless of how much u win.

In total this year from online poker i've netted about 15k(honestly) I started off as a small gambler on betfair lol but now i often play on the bigger blinds tables. Highest i played on was the 100/200 and i lost about a grand so i stopped playing there...them ppl just pull out 1k after 1k after 1k and thats toooooo expensive for a irish man like me

Anyway its been a great year and i'm heading to the wsop in the new year....its kinda a birthday/investment(i hope) lol.

Your all prob bored of reading so i shhh lol,

Have a merry x-mas all u ppl and a great new year,

David.

a pretty good year for me so far, but no big wins
the best single win being in the so stt league 3rd for $500 +$187 total profit.
loads of good finishes in the v points for about $800
loads of good final places in the kop 1st 3rd 7th and 9th .and 15th in the final.
quite a few money finishes in various other leagues and mtts on so, titan ,full tilt and poker.co.uk etc add up to about $1500

most of these games were before the start of october .

since then i have played a few mtts but most of my times been spent playing cash games which has worked out pretty well with a $1200 profit in 2 months play on boss sites always on omaha or hi lo.
i reckon ive put in about 100 hours in that time so makeing $12 a hour average at the moment .
so im just about ready to move up a level and see how that goes

so total profit for the year is $4200

It's been quite a good year for me personally. I only started playing in January and quickly got hooked! The obvious highlight for me was getting the trip to Vegas and playing in the Mansion Poker Dome which was then shown on TV in America!

My other highlights include: Winning my 1st Freeroll in January for the princely sum of $3 at Canbet! But then when they switched networks I landed another one in April for $150 and I remember the buzz of that. A superb feeling. I also managed a 3rd place in the Blue Sq Bubble in August for $120. I played in the Punters Lounge Heads Up tournament in September and came 2nd. Not bad, considering I'd never played HU before! And I've had a few final table finishes in MTT's too.

My STT challenge is ongoing, although I stepped back down to $5 games recently after wiping out most of my $10 games profit, however still in profit in both.

My overall record reads:
Freerolls - $665
MTT's - $482
STT's - $146
Cash - $6
Bonus - $309
Total - $1608 + $7k Vegas Trip!

My targets for next year are to continue with my STT Challenge, but I also want to improve my cash game play.

Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed my first year in poker. And hope 2007 brings more of the same!
