Default Classy Plays - Great River Calls

Are you particularly proud of the way you played a hand? Is it a text book example to others of how to make a great call on the river? Then post the hand history and thoughts and let us see

We dont care about results - whether you win or lose the hand is of no significance, whether you make money/chips or lose, makes no difference to the strength of your play - we dont want your bad beats here

Note: By posting your hand here you are inviting feedback, analysis and comment from others

Default Re: Classy Plays - Great River Calls

Ok this if you take it on face value, is awful looking lol. But, the villain here had a vpip of 70.83% and a flop AF of 2.4, turn of 3.2 and river of 5.5. So I new for him to just be calling me down, he wasn't strong, as the hands I'd played against me he would always make a raise if he had hit somewhere and test my c-bets, but he did call down with draws and bluff if he missed a lot, explaining his high river aggression factor.

Also in this hand, if he hits an 8 on the flop he raises, possibly with a 7 too, same on the turn, as he knows I c-bet a lot. I know he isn't checking both the flop and turn with a made hand. Then on the river the board pairs, perfect for one of his bluffs, he bets the pot, I don't see why he would be betting the pot with a full house here, because he would be losing value. I imagine this could be a split, he could have been drawing, or he could have a low enough pair, pocket or not, for my A to be the best hand. And I think I could be at least splitting about the 33% this would need to be profitable. It's not pretty but it worked!

Maybe I shouldn't have checked the turn, but I wasn't completely sure, but his pot bets on the river I know were often bluffs.

i think its a quite simple call damo.only an eight or a overpair has you beat and the overpair looks unlikely with the call preflop.also the bet on the river is nowhere near enough to make you lay it down ,i would have payed him off if he did hit on that flop.

Just made a very nice river call due to a perfect read i picked up on this guy, basically everytime he pot bet he had nothing and when he checked the flop he hit it. Picked up the pattern within 5hands of being on the table, this first hand illustrates it:

Table #5212531 - Infinity
Starting Hand #256282598
Last Hand #256280052
Game Type: Hold'em
Limit Type: No Limit
Table Type: Ring

Dealing Flop [9h 6s 4c]
rjeandet bets $2
27Nade folds
Taking Rake of $0.10 from pot 1
rjeandet doesn't show
rjeandet wins $1.90

This hand is a period of time later but it had been the same pattern, not that he had been called many times and showed bluffs but it was pretty obvious to me but not to everyone on the table lol:

Table #5212531 - Infinity
Starting Hand #256289848

End Of Hand #256289848
immigrant: omg
aurora446: wtf happened there?
immigrant: my pocket 5 was goood?!
aurora446: whats going on

Only risk was with 2 players still to act but they didn't seem the sort to call that amount in that situation after showing weakness throughout so wasn't too concerned.

A/k with six still to act I'm not rerasing.
Flopped the flush draw and didnt want to let him know if I hit it by reraisng his contiuation bet on the flop.
His bet on the turn convinced my he had A/K as well meaning he was drawing to a split pot at best.
Could have raised on the river but I dont think he would have called somehow.
If I had played the hand correctly I would have won less, and if he had had a high pocket pair I think I would have lost more. The wee mouse icon on poker tracker was made for me!
Big call for a mouse though.

horses for courses I s'pose, I prefer to reraise pre to isolate - don't want to be playing AKs out of position after flop multiway. And yeah I raise flop here too, but good read anyways.
