well the straight was a possibility (on river) but i was pot commited, so had no choice. i was sure he didnt have the straight before the river, but it was a scarey last card

Cheers mate. Always nice to get a deeper insight. Another question - why the flat call on the turn? Were you trying to give him some rope to hang himself with so that he'd put more chips in? I know I can never get my opponents to put enough of their money is, so another aspect I'm always happy to learn more about.

at the start of last year i was still playing 25/50 cents and just gradually moved up.

the flat call was to induce more cash into the pot, also he made a stealthy raise at that point so he would only call a re re raise with a huge hand. the river was horrible but worked out good for me as he tried to represent the straight.

i don't think its black and white, as regard to stack size. i just moved if i was comfy i stayed, i moved very quickly but felt comfortable doing it. right now i play 5/10, 10/20, 25/50 depending on my mood.

i would always advise dipping your feet into the next level ( even with a shortish stack to get used to it and cut the losses), but as i said if you dont feel right go back down.

remember no matter what level you are playing at you need to have a winning game , no point moving up if you hav'nt

this is just my opinion though as it worked for me.
