Default 3 suited cards

Played in the V-Point Freeroll last night.
I'm not sure if I played this right and was hoping for some thoughts!

My hand was QQ in mid-position... folded to me. 30 players left.
I had 9K and the Blinds were 1200.

I raised 3xBB and had 1 caller - the big stack with 50K - sitting behind me.

Flop came 3 clubs - 8, 4, 3 I think...

What should I have done next?

Was my pre-flop 3xBB raise enough?

In that position with only 7/8 big blinds left, I would have pushed all in with QQ (or indeed a lot less) pre-flop.

Having seen the flop, i would say you are pretty much committed to the pot, so push all in. The big stack will almost definitely call, and it's time.

Sounds good to me.

I did think afterwards it would have been better to go ALL-IN pre-flop.
Was trying to represent strength by not going ALL-IN!
Then bet ALL-IN on the flop, which I did!
I hoped that the calller didn't have the AKQ of clubs.
Sadly... the chip-leader had A4 of CLUBS!

I had gone ALL-IN... he typed lol and called... no miracle on the river!

Live and learn! Cheers guys.

shove PF - 3XBB is nearly 40% of your stack with the blinds that big? - you cannot pay that much and then fold to any flop (even AKK) - too many chips invested at this point and if you fold you will in the pot very soon with a much worse hand.

as you didn't shove PF then either

1) shove the flop (may look like desperation - AK etc)

or

be tricky, let him bet and then reriase shove/call dependant on his bet - either is good

and if you check and he checks and the turn is a club - then shove

if he has a club and beats you - thats just the way it goes

Think I would push all in pre-flop as said above you have commited nearly half your stack anyway and hope to get called by an inferior hand.

similar thing happened to me last night.

Had KK as the big blind, it was raised 3x BB by the time it got to me. I flat called it. Only 2 of us in, the flop comes with 3 diamonds, he raises 10 x BB, I folded without thought and was happy to do so.

In your case, short stacked I'd push

I think my probelm was that I wanted a caller as I wanted to double up then and there so I could start playing hands and hope to get to the final table. If I had shoved pre-flop I felt everyone would probably fold and therefore I would be left in the same situation again in 3-4 hands time.

I know I should have gone ALL-IN if I wanted to win outright but was my tactic (LOL) of not shoving pure fool-hardiness, was this my best tactic to get some money out of people and shorten the field to reduce the number of players I was against or should I have flat called and waited to shove on the flop?

Would most likely have been the same result, in this case, but is the only play ALL-IN pre-flop with my chip stack?

Answer: (IMO) Yes

If you are first to act, pull the trigger. You win the blinds only! Well that is an 1800 chip gain on top of your 9000. You get a caller, you are in with a chance of doubling up. You lose, then it wasn't your day.
