Default Campeonato Brasileiro 11/5

One I have to jump on tomorrow, and it is the biggest game of the first round.

FLAMENGO VS SANTOS

On Wednesday Flamengo went shockingly out of the Libertadores after leading 4-2 AWAY from home - they lost 0-3 to America of Mexico at home! Santos travelled away to Colombia on Thursday where they beat Cucuta 2-0 (4-0 on agg') to progress. Ironically Santos will now play America in the QF on Wednesday. Santos, as I have stated in the preview are looking weak this year. Flamengo are a solid home team with a real motivation to bounce back now. Santos will be working off 2 less than 2 days rest and will be definitely resting players for the Libertadores. Major chance of a strong HW here. Odds are shortening like mad - get on it.

PICK: HW @ 1.91 @ 888Sport 4/10

Only time for one more pick today:

CORITIBA VS PALMEIRAS

Coritiba back in Serie A after two seasons away. They are a small club, but with a tough to beat style - compact and somewhat defensive for a Brazilian side. Palmeiras, as I have stated in the preview - have invested heavily in new players - with funding from new backer Traffic - and are seen in the media as one of the favourites for the title this year. Teams in general will not find it easy coming to the Couto Pereira stadium, and I think Coritiba will survive on their home form this season. This will be a test of Wanderlei Luxembergo's Palmeiras - can they show their title intent early - I think so.

PICK: AW @ 1.87 DNB - 188BET - 4/10

Well 3-1 and very comfortable for Flamengo, only conceding an injury time penalty.

Palmeiras was a different story. They could have been 1 or 2 up in the first half, but were outplayed, thought and run in the second. It looks like Mr. Luxemburgo has some work to do there!

Edit: I forgot to mention the Portuguesa SP 5-5 Figueriense game! WTF happened there?! Hope no one had a HW, as Portu' were 5-2 up with 20 mins to go, only to blow it. Nothing is ever fully sure in football!
