I'll have a go at answering this for you. I beleive Queensland may possibly get something out of this, with a new manager in Farina they will haev a fresh new game plan and will be playign a different style tonight. They have a full team to choose from and Melbourne have been stumbling a bit recently but have still been good enough to get results. I give Melbourne a 45% chance of winning this with the Draw being the big threat.

Perhaps if you could find a bookie which offers Melbourne on the 0.25 handicap then it would certainly be worth taking. Good

I think thats a good bet. Melbourne do average around 2.5 goals on the road and Queensland are capable of scoring goals themselves, but tonight i think it will be very low scoring. Id be taking the Under 2.5 goals if i was going to bet on it, but i never use this market as it relies on luck alot of the time.

No offence taken IBryan and good question really

Any team's winning streak can be broken at any time, so it's a matter of opinion really. Melbourne can be beaten tonight for sure, when a new coach comes along they side with the new caoch tend to play better.

Here is Melbourne's last five games...

R8
10/15/2006
Melbourne
0 - 1
Adelaide
R9
10/21/2006
Sydney FC
1 - 2
Melbourne
R10
10/27/2006
NZ Knights
0 - 4
Melbourne
R11
11/3/2006
Melbourne
3 - 3
CC Mariners
R12
11/9/2006
Melbourne
1 - 0
Perth Glory

In my mind they have come to the end of their losing streak as they have only won three of their last five games. The thing I admire about Melbourne is that they score goals and are dangerous every time they go forward, and at $2-05 I simply have to back them as they represent value to me on all the things I look for when trying to analyse a match. The Roar are great odds if you think they are a chance.

What percentage do you have the draw assessed at Ads?

There is a Game Preview Live on http://www.sen.com.au/ if you click on the "Listen Live" on the top right.

There is an interview with new Queensland Coach Frank Farina coming up shortly.

Since you guys are going Under 2.5 tonight, I am going to have a little nibble at the Melbourne 2-0 Scoreline @ $8-50.

I was just wondering what some of your reasons were for not backing away teams at all. I agree it is a good idea to take it out of the equation, and if it results in you winning more than you lose on the punt then that's a good thing. I don't mind betting away teams as a rule as they are generally better odds when away from home, and realistically a grounds a ground when all is said and done, the game still has to be played. Home ground advantage has always been prevalent in Soccer though and some teams just can't win away.

The A League seems to have a bit of a home ground advantage this year, whereas last year it was the opposite. I agree with you about the value on Melbourne. Around $2-00 for a team that has only lost one game. regains 2 strong defenders and is unbeaten away, is definitely value in my book.
Absolutely BeejayV .. and if the Victory can make it through the predictable onslaught from the Roar in the opening 20 minutes or so, then their class should prevail ..

As to not betting "away" teams .. I decided on this one pretty much right from the get go .. Well almost .. I made two plays on away teams when I first started betting .. the first was on Tottenham to beat Watford in EPL .. Now at the time Watford was something like 1-4-12 at the midpoint of the season .. I thought the Spurs were good things at roughly even money given they were mid table, but sure enough the hosts took it 1-0 ..

The other one was in the old NSL .. It was Perth Glory vs Wollongong .. The Glory was absolutely decimated by injury and even claimed to have had to call on players from the local premier league to fill bench its bench .. Now we all know what the Wolves were about back then and I decided that at $2.70 they were a fantastic bet! .. Glory won 2-1 ..

Home ground advantage is HUGE in soccer IMO .. It's more an advantage in soccer than any other sport .. Take a look at the breakdown of teams in European leagues .. Fullham last year is a great example .. Something like 11-2-3 at Cravern Cottage, yet they only managed ONE win on the road!

I've had great success playing home teams exclusively over the years .. When the old NSL ended I was something like 28-4 (no lie) and all of those other than the earlier mentioned Perth / Gong game were achieved on home teams ..

You're spot on with the A League though .. Home advantage has only really kicked in in "Version Two" .. Last year I think more away teams won than home teams (??) But that's why I never placed one single bet on the A League last season!

15m Queensland 0 - 0 Melbourne

Good tempo to the start of the game and fred had a great chance to open the scoring at the 4m mark but great tackle denied him
