Default top premiership goalscorer?

some tasty prices in this market,

Steven Gerrard scored over 20 goals last season is a massive 50/1 suely too generous.

A decent each way shout mate. Barring injuries, I cant see past Thierry Henry, who is guaranteed to play every game....

Bellamys price could be interesting too. I like the look of his partnership with Crouch.

Far too skinny for me especially as Jose likes to rotate his squad.
If he was to play week in week out then maybe but i'd want a bigger price than that.

Yakubu at 50/1 on bet365 looks a good e/w.

He's been there or thereabouts for the last few seasons and with Jimmy leaving and no european commitments he probably won't be rotated as much as he was last season. No African Nations' to worry about this season either.

there is always one striker who comes from no-wehere & perhaps ASHTON is the man. If he starts off weel, i can see him moving on again to a bigger club (sorry Hammers fans!).

I will be looking at ew on Ashton in this market. He is 40's at present.

ROONEY is 12's at Sporting odds which may also be worth a look.

I think chenko will play alot more then the likes of Drogba and Crespo -

He will play asmuch as Terry and Lampard IMO, and 4/1 although Skinny aint a bad price really for someone who i think will score 20 atleast.

Being west ham, i think Harewood or Ashton E/W is a good value bet

Spurs ??

Rooney at 12's is an interesting price, but I'm just not sure about it. He's not got a great goal scorering record.

Henry is the clear and obvious pick

Spurs? hmm so defoe, keane, Mido, rasiak and Ashton

I doubt he'll move from west ham where he will have first team games to a team like spurs who will buy another striker next week if he dont score 20 in 20

Spurs no longer have Mido or Rasiak but they do have Burbatov and from what I know about him plays a similar game to Ashton so I can't see him going to Spurs. I can't see him going anywhere tbh. West Ham can name their price for him and price him out of everyone's reach.

As for top scorers, Andy Johnson at 33s is an interesting one, he's an out and out goalscorer and if he's played regularly I can see him going close.

some very good points, i went back into market, and also took
Andy Johnson, has scored goals everywhere, and with Beattie in support has to be a great shout, E/W pays out for top 4 , 1/4 odds, so get him on at 25/1.

Robbie Keane, 66/1, e/w. what a price has to be real value and always has been agoalscorer, surely he is better than that price.

let my heart rule my head a bit next,
Robbie Fowler, 100/1, e/w. yes i know, the first rule of betting don't liten to your heart!, however God was looking good towards the end of the season and if fully fit (im certain Benitez will ensure that). and good service, Gerrard, Alonso,Bellamy, then no one can doubt he will score goals, the most naturally gifted finisher the premiership has seen (except Shearer) if he plays enough game the Fowler will scorr goals for Liverpool

I couldn't argue with Henry for the outright market, if you went by the Stats anything of evens or more is value. He may play a couple of games less with the new Czech player at Arsenal and he could get injured and he has passed his prime age (27) and he had a fairly poor WC, but still clear fav to me.

Ashton, Johnson and Keane have sound cases for each way, but I still think Yakubu has as good a chance of any them and he is 50/1 so value for each way, he's been in the top chart every year he has been in England and with JFH going and unlikely to be replaced so he will play on a regular basis.

I agree with Yakubu, I think Bellamy will score a lot for Liverpool I am very optimistic about him. I don't think Fowler will play enough games.

I reckon maybe Saha could be worth an each way punt, assuming he can stay fit. He had a really good run towards the end last season. Would appear to be value especially as skybet have him at 34.0, the next closest being 29.0.

I can't see Ruud being at united and even if he doesn't secure a transfer to Madrid, I don't think he'll play much despite supposedly sorting out his differences with Fergie.

That said still can't see anyone beating Henry. Definitely worth a few quid at 3.75

Default Re: top premiership goalscorer?

I had stevie G e/w last year at 100/1, but over half his goals came in cup competitions.

I'll jump on the Bellamy band-wagon too, since leaving Newcastle his goal-scoring record has been tremendous - nine in four months at celtic and thirteen last season. With the distribution of Alonso and Gerrard being so good, combined with the fact he's in his debut season at the club he supported as a child, if he gets off to a flyer he can easily surpass that. 14/1 at the moment, looks good to me for an each way bet

Other top goalscorer bets i'm considering (all e/w)
Dimitar Berbatov (25/1) - His style should suit the Premiership, big, strong and a natural goalscorer.
Andy Johnson (25/1) - He has the pedigree, should work well with Beattie...i'm gonna wait to see if AJ is on penalties though, as a lot of his goals come from the spot. If not, i doubt he'll be in the top five.
Marlon Harewood (66/1) - He was in the top five last season 66/1 (skybet) is waaaay too big
Leroy Lita (250/1) Reading look the likiest of the promoted trio to 'do a wigan' and any time i've seen this guy play he's performed well. Scored goals through the leagues and again the price is pretty generous

Edited to say - anyone notice the curious absence of Michael Owen from some top scorer coupons. Even with one leg he'll surely score more than Franny Jeffers

I was looking at johnston also, actually 33/1 with stan james for an each way shot.

Im not a big crespo fan, but surely 33/1 expekt.com is massive for the odds-on favourites's centre-forward - youd expect him to be in the top few at that price.

I reckon if bellamy stays fit it could be him, 22/1 bet direct, is a superb bet, even e/w will return 11/2.

Surely Shevchenko will be their Centre Forward? Unless Mourinho decides to start playing 2 up front..

Adebayor seemed like Wengers favoured partner for Henry last year and although looking like a bit of a donkey at times, he still scored 5 in 12, which is a decent return.

If Wengers opts for Van Persie intead then he has a good scoring record aswell:

Starts: 39, Subs: 40
Goals: 21

Adebayor 130.0 @ betfair
Van Persie: 140.0 betfair

Or if you fancy an each way bet instead:

Adebayor: 50/1 Ladbrokes
Van Persie: 100/1 bet 365

good call AK, perhaps the chelsk playing system is reflected on the bookies prices.
