Default Top Premiership Goalscorer

Apologies if this has been mentioned in another thread. Who are you backing to be the top marksmen in the prem this year? For Me, I'm going with 3 e/w bets.

Firstly, I'm going for Kezman at 25/1 with ukbetting (he was 33/1 with coral yesterday, but they've cut it to 20/1 now). He's been even more prolific for PSV than Van Nistelrooy was and has always impressed when he's come up against English teams in Europe. He's a much more natural goalscorer than Drogba, and I think the bookies are really underestimating how good Kezman is!

Secondly, I'm going for Shearer at 14/1 also with ukbetting. He's always there or there abouts in the goalscoring charts, and the fact that they won't be playing in the champions league might help him. Furthermore with the arrival of Kluivert, teams won't be able to solely concentrate on man marking Shearer, which might enable him to find more space to unleash that lethal right foot.

Finally I'm gonna have a small punt on hasselbaink. I know he's a moody git, but he's always scored goals wherever he goes (I'm pretty sure he was Chelsea's top goalscorer last season, despite probably not playing more than 3 games in a row without being dropped), and I think he might just want to prove a point to those people who at Chelsea, who not only let him go, but let him go on a free!

All depends on who Mourinho plays up front, and if he decides to revolve his strikers a lot. I'd go with a Man Utd striker, Van Nistelrooy has Smith and Saha to play with and a decent midfield to supply balls, plus with Vieira possibly going to Madrid, Henry at Arsenal will have less midfield service than he had last season. Avoid any of the Liverpool strikers, looks like Gerrard will again be their only source of decent passes.

Default Kezman

Backing up swampster point. Kezman may only play 50% of EPL games as I imagine they will want him fresh for all the Champions League games. 33/1 was value but not 20/1. Hasselbaink looks fair value at 25/1 he has proved in the past he is in a similar league as Henry and RVN and he will probably get more run outs in EPL, but maybe not the service of the other 2. A negative point for HB is that Viduka will be the main penalty taker. I still can't believe Boro got him on a free!

I expect big things from Kezman also. Compared to the other choices (Gudjohnsen / Mutu / Drogba), I see Kezman starting more games. He has advantages over Mutu & Drogba because he's played in the Eredivisie - it's a very nice preparation with some of its British charateristics, compared to the French 1st Division or Serie A. Many players have made a very successful transisition from the Eredivisie compared to other leagues.

To pay £5.5m also Maybe it's got something to do with the growing friendly Chelsea relations with PSV? Massive bargain compared to £24m on a league where it's been a bit hit & miss to buy from recently, unfortunately for Liverpool

Well, I have to say, Kezman looks like a cracking bet

Mourinho won't be changing the starting side often. It's just not his style. He will obviously take some time to settle down and get to know the players better, and probably will tinker a bit more in the process, but by October expect him to have pretty firm ideas about who will start regularly.

Kezman looks to be a very likely regular starter, because he could either play as a forward in both the 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 systems or a winger in this latter one. He's obviously go killer instinct and at the going prices of 20/1 even he is in my view an outstanding bet.

Also I don't think Henry will have as good a season this year, he was formidable last year but it's very, very hard to keep that sort of form going.

I actually feel the Premiership will go down to a two-horse race this season between ManUtd and Chelsea, and if that proves to be the case a Chelsea man will most likely contend for top scorer.

Also, keep your eyes on Drogba, this guy is a really good forward, he's very powerful yet quick, has some neat touches to him and can actually score from free kicks. He's got what it takes to succeed in the Premiership in my view.

And boy he needs it, if only to justify his overblown price tag of £ 24 Million...
