Like most people i would expect United to beat Gretna. But when i first viewed the fixtures for the cup this was one match that i thought could end in a shock result. United havn't been very convincing this season, and the weather conditions can be a great leveller. As i said, i would expect United to win but there is enough doubt that i don't feel like risking my money on it- so a no bet for me.

As for the rest of the matches- I've stopped backing short priced favourites as i always seem to end up losing in the long run. So i'll be waiting until the weekend.

Maybe if im not backing them they will all win

Good luck all

from BBc Sport,
Ryan Baldacchino could come into contention for Gretna's re-arranged Scottish Cup tie against Dundee United.

The midfielder has recovered from a foot injury as the Division Three leaders hope bad weather does not force a third postponement of the tie.

Dundee United manager Ian McCall arrives with no fresh team problems but knowing that his position would be under threat following a defeat.

A trip to face Queen of the South in the fourth round awaits the winners.

The pitch at Raydale Park is playable but bad weather is forecast for Monday evening and may cause problems for fans travelling to the game.

United have been struggling in the Scottish Premier League and lost away to Hearts on Saturday. Not much to go on, but at least united have to go for it....I am going to stick with my original tip and go for Dundee utd at 1.67/66. They are 2.62 to win both halves in Beftair. Or, temptingly, Ht draw ft away is 5.4

You ok there Dave?

I aint gonna bother wit it tonight. Have to disagree with Alex that Gretna are on their way back as they seem to be as bad as they were for the past month. They had a break abroad but they dont seem to be playing as convincingly as they were till xmas imo but i still wont be taking a chance on Dundee Utd like Laidback and Daik but good luck to those that are.

I have thought about this match long enough now, quite often first thoughts are the correct thoughts, so, I am going small on Utd. I have been tempted by betfair's 1.63 here.

I have had a great run on Scottish football this season, so, I am using bookies money anyway. I am not betting anything like the amount I was going to, so, if it goes down it will not hurt. I am placing just over £40, to try and win £25, so, no big deal at all!

I'll be giving it a miss too. I think Dundee United will win, as the the type of play which rolls over teams in Div 3 won't(or atleast shouldn't) be an option against an SPL defence, and I doubt Gretna will have a plan B, as they have never really needed one this season. Apart from their defence, Dundee United are by and large a very experienced team, and players like Crawford/McInnes/Brebner/Robson/McIntyre etc wont be getting carried away with the hype about Gretna this season, and will go there to make sure of a professional job. Still, weather, pitch, a Gretna team full of confidence all puts a few too many question marks over it for me.

That said, I'll go with miniature stakes on 2-0 Dundee U, 3-1 Dundee U, Crawford first goalscorer, just for some basic interest.

Had a fifty quid double last week on a Liverpool to beat Watford (1/5 and Dundee Utd to beat Gretna (4/6). Looking at the rules for Hills, if a game is postponed but is played by the following Monday the bet still stands. As a result I have £60 then riding on Dundee so hopefully they'll do me a favour.

I would expect them to win this one being from the SPL but Gretna won't be any pushovers. Noticed Hills have cut the odds into 4/7 which is interesting.

One other point is the fact that both sides are having to play 2 games in a matter of 2 days which I would have expected to favour Dundee U as you would expect them to be the fitter side. Having to play so soon after their last set of games fitness late on could be a key factor. Dundee Utd also gave Hearts a scare before going down 3-2 and their last few results which includes a 1-1 draw with Rangers seem to point to an improvement.

I have taken Dundee United at 1.68 on Betfair. Premier League vs 3rd Division. Huge gulf in class. Id be very surprised if Gretna take anything from this game. Just been on phone to mate at the game and he says it is cold but no snow and a slight wind.
