Possibly. Back them at that price and then lay them if they happen to go one up after 5 minutes in the first game of the new season They're shit and unless the new manager buys really really well, they'll continue to be shit. Then againt, unless Newcastle find out how to play away from home, they're guarenteed fourth spot next year.

Nice to see you sitting on the fence again ONEDUNME I agree Liverpool have been pants this season, but can't see the point of betting on the top three with the odds that are being offered. It's a long time to tie your money up, without much lee way to lay at a later stage. Assuming you haven't got loads of dosh.

I agree entirely. Perhaps the place to look for value is at the other end of the table where it's more difficult to predict the bottom three and therefore more chance of a decent price. Your point about tying your money up still applies though. My view is (and please don't take this personally anyone) that there are some seasons where the quality of the premiership is not great and six or seven clubs are crap enough to go down. I think next season is one of them and there could be plenty of value about. As I've said before, Fulham have surprised me in how well they've done this season and I might try a little spread sell of their points, depending on the quote.

I think most people would agree that the winners will come from Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd. Before the season starts it is hard to say which one of them will triumph. So the value has to be with Man Utd at 3.75 doesn't it?

Totally agree about Manchester United... Their price is far too long... :rolleyes And I cannot see Arsenal staying unbeaten for two season in a row. Their price is way too short to put cash on. It will probably drift in the first few weeks of the season.

Out of interest if we all agree that one of the winners will come from the top 3 in the betting then it is an arb bet really? Arsenal 2.10 Chelsea 3.00 Man Utd 3.75 If Arsenal win the league you would win more than your money back making 3% (same as a bank account over a year). If Chelsea win you would make 33% and if Man Utd won you would make about 45% on your money. Which sides could stop this? Liverpool? Newcastle? I just can't see it.... Now where is that £30,000 I put to one side..... ![]()

I agree 11/4 is a good price for MU. RF back for most of the season and the signing of Smith will boost them. I expect them to reach at least 80 points. MU have something to prove next season, so they are a buy on Spreadex points at present. At the bottom will any of Norwich, WBA, and Crystal Palace get 40 points? I doubt it, without spending 10s of £ms therefore they are my bottom 3. Maybe MCity could flop and get less than 40points, but I thinks its odds against they will finish below the promoted 3. If Fulham or Charlton lost their managers they would be sells too, but no sign of that at present.

I think its a good job you haven't got a spare 30,000 to stick on this "arb" Gett1n because apparently you don't know how to do your maths. Placing bets on each team in order to return the same amount whatever would turn your 30,000 in to 27,876- not the most attractive betting proposition. Hope you havent stuck your mortgage on it yet ![]()

Although we are 4th Fav's and finnished 30pts behind Arsenal last season, you can not rule us out yet. In fact 16-1 (general) must be had for any cover right now imo. Ok it's too early too get carried away but at present time... 1. Milan Baros has just scored 2 world class goals (well they would of said that if Tierry Henry would of scored them) against the Danes and is now top scorer in Euro 2004 at the semi final stage on five goals. If he is still with us at the start of the season and gets a good run in the team then he will score the goals, Houllier simply didn't play him enough, Benitez must be watching. 2. Benitez, you cant knock his record, i get the impression he will be a harder man than Houllier was and it will be interesting to see who he brings with him. 3. If you were asked last season whats wrong with Liverpool the chances are you might of said Houllier or Heskey... both Gone. 4. Djibbril Cisse, Possibly arriving on 1st of July, i dont know much about the guy but he's a leading goalscorer in France, would add height up front, he's fast as fcuk and he wants to come and play for us. I dont know if Gerrard or Owen will be with us for much longer, i would love it if they stayed but 30+Million for Gerrard wouldn't do to much damage and Owen gives me the impression that he's more for his own career these days so no major loss. There are no players bigger than Britains most succesful club. "Milan, Milan, Milan" 7-1 @ Corals Everton to be relegated Hmmm?

Approx 3pm today. It looks like it will be "Gerrard is staying". As for the title, well Liverpool surely can't be any worse than some of last seasons efforts. Its doesn't say much for Houllier as a manager that he was undecided between Heskey and Baros. This last couple of weeks have proved how poor a spot of decision making that turned out to be.

Sorry Punter but to make up 30 points is a massive task. I wouldnt take 33/1 nevermind 16's. I agree that you will show some improvement though and Benitez looks a good appointment. 7/1 Everton to go down? Hmmm, worth considering. ![]()

Yeah, probably right Aykay, I am looking forward to watching a different Liverpool play this season though. What about e.w. chances? A top 3 finish? I'm sure United and Arsenal will be strong but will Mourinho get it right in his first seaon? should Chelsea have got rid of Ranieri? Can Lampard have the same season as he's just had? I think Chelsea could struggle to have the same season as last, too much buying and selling and possibly too many unsettled players with a lack of team spirit for me. Expectation will be high too with last seasons 2nd place finish and Champ's league semi finalists, that could go against them.
