For the Conference i strongly fancy Carlisle to top the league come May but also see a good season for the newcomers Canvey Island and Crawley (33-1 Hills).

My local team Hereford have lost their best players, Parry left half way through last season, top scorer Guinan has gone to Cheltenham, Rose to Yeovil and another big loss with Ben Smith leaving to go to Shrewsbury, Bourmouth have pinched a very good coach in O'reilly from us too, so no value at odds of 5/1 imo. We could be losing a good keeper within the next few days too. Having said that we have signed a good striker in Stansfield from Yeovil and do still have other good players staying on so it shouldn't be too bad a season.

In the Conference North the 14-1 for Worcester City looks the pick of the Non league value for me, a must e.w. bet at those odds.
The City have financial difficulties but have stated there is no possible chance of doing a Telford. They finished a decent 5th last season and Bartons pre season signings look to be decent ones, former Hereford player Rob Warner has joined but the Signing of striker Christian Moore looks a great addition.

Yet to look in depth in the Conference South but Thurrock at 14's will be one i shall be reading up on

Agree with Carlisle but for the backers and layers amongst you, jump on Morecambe, theyve invested very early this time round, this could well be the year

Default Micheal Twiss

Can't say that i've heard of any of the others but Michael Twiss is an excellent player, i see him play for Chester a few times last season, scored a cracker against Woking? Wouldnt surprise me if he ends up as the Conference top scorer.
A regular Man utd reserve player at one time i believe?
Great signing.

Carlisle need to start like they finished last season, first match is at home to Canvey Island. Not much team news at the moment but there has been no mass exodus of players...after relegation.

I was considering Hereford @ a massive 9/1 (Corals) until I read Punters thoughts.

I looked around for prices and Hereford are around 5/1 at best everywhere and only 5.70 on Betfair yet Corals go 9/1 - I thought it must be an error at first.

Would you back them @ that price Punter?

Hi Quaker,

That 9-1 wasn't available at the time of my last post and i too am a bit surprised by the size of it, 365 have us as short as 4-1 but the in genaral we are 5's. Its a very nice price for an each way bet at Corals considering its 1/4 odds for 3 places but to be honest i think we may find one or two in front of us this season.

More team news since my last post too, we did lose our keeper to Wrexham but we have signed Tamika Mcandawire from W.B.A. He played for us on loan 17 times last season and every Utd fan will be glad to see him in our back four again this season, a good signing. We have also been told to expect another 3 signings but no names given just yet.

I think Corals do seem to have the best view on this league, they are the shortest price on Carlisle (3-1) and then go 9's for Hereford, Morecambe, Exeter and Canvey.

Carlisle finished the season well, extremely well and as Winrew says there has been no mass exodus, they will be the best supported team in the league and although pre season friendlies count for nothing the 1-9 away win at Kendal yesterday must of been encouraging.

Good luck if you do back us and hope the Darlington do you proud this season too.

Carlisle United has been bought by local businessman Fred Story, acccording to BBC Radio Cumbria.
Story, who has been a director on the Brunton Park board for several years, will hold a news conference at the club at 1400 BST on Friday.

There he is expected to announce the deal to buy the club.

It is understood former owner John Courtenay has taken the decision to sell due to the demands of his other business commitments in Ireland.

Story, who owns owns successful Carlisle-based construction, rail and property companies, will take immediate charge at the Nationwide Conference club.

Very difficult to predict with all the reestructuring, but Lewes @ 33/1 each way in the Conference South looks a good bet. Finished the season by winning 2 or 3 playoffs to make it into this league, and have some real quality in their squad.

Been a fan of theres for some time now, and this season they have a lot of new players, and the fitness levels are the best ive seen for a long time.

Default newport county

Newport |County have made a couple of terrific signings in Jason Bowen and Scott Young. Bowen's been around a bit and playing last season at Cardiff but he's only 32 and has joined Newport because he doesn't want to leave South Wales again. Scott Young (also Cardiff) had to retire from the pro game because of a persistent back problem so I dont know how many games he'll manage but he is a classy defender who scores quite a few (famously getting the goal to knock Leeds out of the FA Cup). The odds though seem to have been slashed to 14/1
