Not a lot appeals this midweek, although I can see the claims of Worcester tonight at 6/5 with Stan James. Hednesford have strengthened a fair bit in recent weeks and they are a daft 9/1 with Bet 365 for the trip to Stafford tomorrow. Keeping an eye on two Wedndesday matches: Bradford PA are set for a late-season burst with a happier squad and are quite big at home to Marine, who've only won two in seven. And Gateshead played on Saturday with a midfielder between the sticks - not sure who'll be playing in goal against Farsley. Have to say it was a masterstroke by Brian France at Ferriby to get Gary Bradshaw back on loan for the rest of the season, although they suffered a couple of very bad injuries at the weekend.

In short, despite all this wittering, I'm doing nought...

Incidentally, in the Unibond Prem Runcorn look in terrible financial straits right now, and worst case is that they'll not be able to finish the season. Another Spennymoor in the offing? Must check to see who might/might not lose points...

Ossett T at Witton - 1pt 3/1 Slybet
Blyth at Marine - 1pt 15/8 Bet 365

I might have a bet on Worcester later If i pluck up the courage.
They are on good form after a terrible startt o the season and had a good away win on Sat, but they have both played each other in the cup recently and drew (at Worcester, although I dunno ho weak the teams they put out were.)
Moor Green won 3 and drawn 1 in last 4 league games so should be tight...

Looking further into it I might go for the draw......Will decide later

Team Bath are in poor nick right now and might have a few unfamiliar bodies travelling to Chippenham midweek. Slybet's 8/13 has some appeal but I'm taking a point with Stan James at 5/4 on Chippenham HT/FT.

I think that cambridge city at 6/5 with stan james have to be indulged.Since the drama of the merger with deadly rivals, city ,gary roberts boys ahve pushed on in largely admirable style. And with the postoponement of the home agme at milton road on saturday,an extra couple of days will be handy to get the odd walking wounded back into action.

I KNOW THAT BISHOPS STORTford WILL be no pushovers,on their own soil, but they do like to play football, and in a sraight shootout between 2 footballing sides, you have to lean on the city, and it is worth a little interest with stan james and co.

Ships, I an thinking of doubling the city with northwich at 4/5 with stan james against gainsborough.A tricky-ish game but one that i feel steve burrs boys will fancy themselves to get the 3 points.Although gainsborough dented my pocket against stalybridge recently,so i know that they will be no walkover .What is your take on this one?

ReasoningUnibond Premier Wednesday 15 March 2006 - 19:45
Important game for both side with opposing reasons. Marine got dumped out of the Unibond cup at the weekend by 1st division Stocksbridge and prior to that they suffered a surprising home defeat (at the time) to Leek Town. The loss to Leek was their first defeat in 23 though and Bradford haven't won in 15. Marine should win really, created chances at the weekend but couldn't finish against Stocksbridge, the Leek defeat was not really that much of a shock as they are the form side at the minute. After this Marine have to face Blyth and North Ferriby in a short space of time. Both are in win a good shout of winning the league, so matches against strugglers at this stage should be won either home or away.
Marie T

I was looking at Blyth to beat North Ferriby on Tuesday night. Long old bus trip up there, skipper is injured and influencial player broke his leg against Gateshead at the weekend. Blyth are going well but Gary Bradshaw is back for Ferriby (Hurrah) from his spell at Cheltenham and he got two on his return. So no bet.

Hereford @1.83 (VCBet) is pure value in my opinion. They are unbeaten in last 14 games, and they played last match against mighty Accrington, so I really can't see them losing points against poor Southport.

They were close to lose that match to leaders, but with last minute goal they should gain more confidence and I think they go to this match even stronger. There are few injury doubts in their camp, but that shouldn't be a problem for this match.

Southport are the weakest team in Conference this season, and although I don't like betting agaisnt bottom table teams, this time I will make exception for 2 reasons.

First reason is that Southport won their last match, and it's hard to imagine them to make 2 wins in a row, especially not against Hereford.

Second and more important reason is price. 1.83 for in-form team against leagues strugglers is gift in my opinion, and although in games like this (top vs bottom) strange results sometimes happen, this price is too atractive to be missed and I will go for Hereford with high stakes.

They have positive h2h stats over Southport in most recent meetings, so even in those stats I can't find reason against Hereford here.

Two more for Saturday:
Chelmsford at home to East Thurrock 4/5 Slybet/Bet 365 2pts
Ilkeston at Prescot 5/2 Slybet 1pt

Pat - Interesting thoughts on the BPA/Marine game. I'm not betting on this one, but I think the home side will be a very different proposition under the new management team. The finish to the season in the Unibond is going to be fantastic at both ends. Ferriby have six very tough away matches left - Blyth, Marine, Frickley, Telford, Leek and BPA. Marine have easier matches but still have to go to Farsley and play Blyth and Ferriby at home. Frickley have an easy-looking set of games too, but eight are on the road. Blyth have the easiest set of the lot, once the Ferriby and Marine games (next up) are out of the way - they may easily trip up in those and still win the pot at a canter, so I'll keep an eye on the ante-post prices after these two. Farsley have an easy run-in too (Runcorn to play twice - if they happen), though realistically they can drop very few points if they are to stay in contention. Good luck with Wednesday's pick.

Best value of the day for me is Alfreton Town at home to Workington, they have been a decent side at home all season and @ 5/4 (sportingodds) i think this is worth getting on. If it hadn't been for their dire away form this season, they would be up in the tophalf of the table. A good 2-1 win against league leaders Stafford Rangers on saturday shows that Alfreton are a strong home team.

6pts staked.

Stan James offering 5/6 Chelmsford on Saturday - great price and I'm sorely tempted to double up, having already taken 4/5.

More plays in the Conference North in the offing, but I'll wait until the midweeks are out of the way.

Taken half-a-point on a Hednesford tonight at Stafford - 9/1 with Sporting Odds and Bet365. They're clearly big outsiders but I'm not sure that they should be quite this big. Localish derby, decent following, form ticking up, new signings strengthening all aspects of the team, hail stones and ball-lightning forecast for the second half... okay, I made that last bit up, but I think 9/1 is the sort of quote you'd get if Stafford were home to an injury-hit Lincoln Utd in a cup match, not a league game against improving opposition scrapping for their lives. It goes without saying that any 9/1 shot comes with a wealth-warning, but nevertheless I think they're a sporting play.

Glad you were on, Chalmers! They scored again early in the second half, with Team Bath notching a couple of late consolations.

Hednesford managed a late equaliser at Stafford, so I lost half a point there, but finished up on the night thanks to Chippenham. As with Leigh RMI's recent visit to Stafford, when I tipped them on here at a similarly silly price and it ended in draw, I must remember to do draw savers!

Nice picks Djorde and Ivor last night! Sorry Ivor, I've just realised you asked me a question about Northwich last night - I've been paying flying visits of late and not reading threads properly... I sincerely hope you were on!

Yes,cheers ships,i chose the vics as my decent single bet, instead of cambridge city.I have a habit of doing that, tipping one thing on here, making a good case for it,and backing something else instead.Still the vics obliged and i think that there is plenty of life left in them for the title race.I just get the impression that they have had their dreadful blip, after the amazing start, and stafford have to run into the wall at some stage.
