Before the start of this season, Cork City and Derry City fans would have looked at this fixture as a key one to decide the direction of the league title. Whilst Derry are in third place they are 12 points off leaders Bohemians, who have a game in hand. Cork are a massive 23 points off the top, also a game more played. Never the less, there is still plenty to play for as these teams clash in Turners Cross on Friday night. (kick-off 19:45). Having had a convincing win over Cliftonville in Belfast on Monday night, City boss Alan Mathews told CorkCityFC.ie that he is keen for his side to continue that form into tomorrow night’s game. Speaking after training at Bishopstown this morning, Mathews said: “We had a great result against Cliftonville and also a very good performance. It will be a difficult game against Derry, but we need to maintain the intensity of performance which we displayed on Monday night as we bid to get the required result. We still have an awful lot to play for this season, and I would ask our supporters to get behind the team once again on Friday night.” Extratime Prediction: Cork (odds 5-4) are bookies favourites for this one, with Derry (odds 15-8) just favoured over a draw (odds 21-10). Extratime think that Derry City will come out on top in this one. They have been on an impressive run for the last month and we expect that to continue with a 1-0 win over the Leesiders. Wexford Youths and Longford Town continue their battle at the bottom of the eircom League of Ireland First Division table this Friday evening when the pair meet at Ferrycarrig Park (kick-off 8pm). Though relegation for any club now seems unlikely, both sides will still be looking to create a gap between themselves and the bottom, with Wexford just two off the foot of the standings and Longford only a further two above that. Despite their impressive run to the final of the League Cup this season, Wexford have struggled badly in the league and have managed just two wins from thirteen home outings - a statistic which manager Mick Wallace is desperately hoping to change. “We need to start winning more home games,” he said. “We drew with Athlone last Friday, but we need to be winning games like that and beating teams around us. We're better against the top teams really and we've won ten games this season, but six have been away from home.” Team News: Wexford manager Mick Wallace will be without four players for this game, as the injured trio of Stuart Lawlor, Kyle Dempsey and Conor Wallace are joined on the sidelines by club captain Anthony Russell, who misses out due to a one-match suspension. Longford, meanwhile, have no worries on that front. By Keith Wallace from, http://www.extratime.ie/fixtures/detail/10431/0/

| Cork City Starting Line-Up: Devine, Horgan, Murray, Kelly, Danny Murphy, Lordan, Darren Murphy, Healy, Ryan, Kearney, Behan. Substitutions: Woods, McNulty, Cambridge, Kiely, O'Connor. Derry City Starting Line-Up: Doherty, Hargan, McChrystal, Delaney, Higgins, McHugh, McGlynn, Deery, McGinn, Farren, Morrow. Substitutions: McCallion, Quigley, Stewart, Callaghan, McLean. Aside from all the financial turmoil surrounding the club, I feel that Cork might struggle to score goals for the rest of the season as Mooney has gone to Reading and O'Flynn to Barnet. Joe Gamble will be missed in midfield tonight and It looks like Behan is on his own up front. He should find it tough going as Derry's defence has been tight although they've a couple of first choice defenders out including the captain Hutton. Farren is starting after being an injury doubt and that's a big plus for Derry. Derry DNB @ 2.00 ![]() |

| Well Donegal Celtic just got beat last Tuesday 5-0 by Ards with 2 players sent off who will miss tonights game (inc. their skipper) and just barely scraped past local amateur side Albert Foundery 3-2 (AET) in the cup. Therefore DC are coming into this game in awful form So too is Cliftonvilles but we must remember there is a division of class between these two teams and has been rumoured all day that DC have 4/5 players missing and everyone here has been jumping on them - can still get 5/6 in Ladbrokes! Also took Newry City after their impressive win on Saturday against Cliftonville whilst having the luxury of players coming back from injury whilst Coleraine face an injury crisis Quote:
