Isn't there a stat that shows Celtic only winning 4 friendlies under Strachen ?

Totally agree that Celtic will beat Southampton tonight and 1.84 looks good price. I think that this game is in a way similar to Manchester United's game against Aberdeen. The away team has the class and the home team is being played against because of the managers' ties. Aberdeen are probably better than Southampton as Aberdeen still play at the top level of Scottish football. Manchester United are a better side than Celtic. So it follows that Celtic will win the game tonight 2-0 in my opinion.

I'm a bit wary about taking celtic tonight, especially considering the game is a testimonial. There was a story a mate was telling me about Shearer's testimonial which we played in. Apparently it was competitive for 85 mins then the game got tied up at 2-2 only for Newcastle to get a nothing penalty and for the "injured" shearer come off the bench to score the winner. Although saying that we usually do well in these kind of games especially against english sides so you never know. 1.84 seems half decent imo but I wouldn't be going nuts on it.

MON THE HOOPS!

Celtic pre-season results under Strachan
2005/06

Fulham 0-0 Celtic
Leicester 0-0 Celtic
Celtic 2-2 Sporting Lisbon
Celtic 0-0 Leeds

2006/07

Legia Warsaw 1-0 Celtic
Wisla Krakow 2-0 Celtic
DC United 4-0 Celtic
Chivas 0-0 Celtic
New England Revolution 1-1 Celtic
Celtic 1-0 Everton
Celtic 0-3 Man Utd
Yokohama Marinos 3-0 Celtic
Chelsea 1-1 Celtic

2007/08

FC Basel 0-1 Celtic
Young Boys of Berne 4-1 Celtic
Peterborough 1-2 Celtic
QPR 1-5 Celtic
MLS All Stars 2-0 Celtic
Chicago Fire 1-1 Celtic
Newcastle 4-1 Celtic
Celtic 1-0 Parma

So yeah Eivissa is right only 4 friendly wins under Strachan and some pretty woeful performances to go along with that. We should have too much for Southampton but we also play Fulham at Craven Cottage tomorrow and with it being Lundekvam's testimonial I'm not even sure what sort of team we will have out and with a lot of chopping and changing makes it a no bet for me.

For Alan Shearer's testimonial the whole thing was staged with Les Ferdinand getting fouled in the box late on with Shearer who was injured coming on to take the penalty which I think turned out to be the winner, whole thing turned into a bit of a farce so would be a no bet for me. Interestingly we have a decent record at Craven Cottage, in 3 visits there pre-season we have won twice and drawn 0-0.

H/T

Southampton 0 - 1 Celtic (Killen)

Celtic should be about 3 or 4 up. Hopefully we'll see Mizuno second half.
