Early takes for me: more on these later... Eastwood Town away at Matlock Town (11/8 Skybet) Margate away at Hendon (9/4 Skybet) Gloucester City away at Yate Town (11/8 Coral, Skybet) Tonbridge Angels at home to Maidstone United (5/4 Coral) Plenty on the watchlist for me: Carshalton Athletic at home to East Thurrock United (Evs at Stan James); Ashton United at home to Ossett Town; Clevedon United away at Bromsgrove Rovers; and Harlow Town away at Hastings United.

Ryman prices added at the top. I have to take 4/5 AFC Wimbledon at Heybridge Swifts. I've been a bit of a follower of the Swifts of late, but I am led to believe that the money problems are fairly serious, to the extent that players' details have been circulated around other clubs (though that might have come from agents, of course). AFC Wimbledon are largely over their injury, suspension and illness problems, and are starting to look formidable. Heybridge did well to fight back at Folkestone last week, but they'll need plenty more of that - and none of the first half performance that conceded two soft goals - to hold a buoyant AFC Wimbledon. 4/5 with Sportingbet will do. Sportingbet have also pegged Carshalton at 11/10, which is very tempting.

Quickly on the other selection - and once again apologies as time is really tight this week. Eastwood Town have featured quite a bit on Punter's Lounge of late - they're a go-ahead outfit with a chunky budget, and they are also in great form. Matlock we've been opposing, and last week's draw at Leek - a real struggle - doesn't encourage me to change that opinion; that was their only point in five games. They've too many players short of form, and a few who wouldn't look out of place a level lower. I'll be surprised if they finish higher than 14th. Eastwood have one defeat in 11 (at Marine), and have been competitive against the better sides. They need a win to stay ahead of the chasing pack, who have games in hand. Margate are a great price to win at Hendon, who are on a run of six straight defeats and are without a home win since the end of November. As I've said before, it's no secret why they are falling off the pace: they have no plan B, and with Wayne O'Sullivan gone don't have much of a plan A. Margate - I'll warn you - I've lost a packet on this season, but I can't resist this price. Gloucester - now at 7/5 with Paddy Power - will give it a real go at Yate. I don't rate Yate very much, though they did pull of a fine win away at Gloucester a few weeks ago (their only win in eight). Their porous defence - 20 conceded in 7 - won't hold a Gloucester side that deserved to win at Hemel and pulled of a home win against Team Bath through sheer guts, proving they can defend if they want to. I just can't see Yate scoring as many as Gloucester. Tonbridge is risky... it's a derby and a relegation six-pointer, so I'll understand if most of you turn your nose up at that one. But they are putting in some decent performances - losing in the last minute at in-form Ashford was poor reward for a great showing that deserved more. Apart from the Boxing Day thrashing at the hands of Horsham, they are unbeaten at home in nine. Maidstone are fighting doggedly, but last week's win over Hendon followed losses to Ramsgate and Staines and a real fight against Leyton.

There might be some value in 8/13 Chelmsford tomorrow. Horsham - whose recent injury blight has been well covered by this thread - will also be missing Jacob Mingle tomorrow. He's a real engineroom in midfield, a breaker-upper of play and with the vision to create too, and he'll be sorely missed in a game like this. Pause for thought is the dogged performance they put in at AFC Hornchurch midweek, despite equally limited resources. Chelmsford also have not been firing of late, the result of team changes as much as complacency, I think, but they should win this one. I'll scratch my head on that one a bit more. Not sure I'll do anything with the others shortlisted above. Ossett have been bringing yet more players this week, and though they are likely to be getting to know each other for a while it is fair to say they have been using their Guiseley money wisely. There's just not quite enough in the prices about Harlow and Celevedon to take them in tricky away matches. Carshalton are still the most likeliest pick and 11/10 is pretty good, although they were done by improving Walton Casuals in the cup this week, and ETU's form might have turned the corner at a crucia time of the season. There are, though, some interesting bigger prices - AFC Hornchurch may exploit a failing Staines at 5/2, and Prescot and Kendal can do okay at Stamford and Ferriby respectively. The Southern Prem is full of big prices. Given that Graham Drury - Corby boss - one bagged a superb win at Twerton for Stamford over Bath City a couple of seasons back, I can see some value in 6/1 Corby tomorrow at Team Bath... that, though, is quite barking. The Matlock Town/Eastwood Town game is being shown on Unibond TV, live on the net, with a 12.45 ko. The coverage is being advertised as 'free', though I can't access all the details of what that means as I am on my Mac at work, and it doesn't like the Apple OS.

At the risk of sounding like a one-trick-pony (said I don't follow non-league football closely) I must back HEMEL HEMPSTEAD to lose at home again this week - this time against Bedford Town. As Ships stated in an earlier thread, Gloucester really should have won there last week and missed a couple of sitters prior to Hemel's late equaliser (there is a picture on the Gloucester website of the ball on the goal line without a defender in site but somehow it was cleared). that would have been their 5th successive defeat. Hemel have parted company this week with their leading goalscorer (23 goals this season - the next best has 10) and this must have an effect on morale: "Top scorer Drew Roberts has left the club to join Cambridge City. Drew who scored 23 goals for the Tudors this season played his last game for the reds Tuesday in the Capital league's 1-0 win at Chesham United. Hemel Hempstead Town would like to thank Drew for all his efforts this season and we wish him the best of luck at his new club." 3.5 at Skybet.

I agree with Ships pick of Tonbridge today. I was looking for anything above evens, so was very happy to grt 2.25 with coral. Tonbridge & Maidstone are the two teams I know best, and The Angels undoubtably have the better long term prospects. Since Tommy Warrilow took over he seemd to be intent in getting rid of all Tony Dolby's players. He brought a number of new faces in, who were all cup tied, so the Club were effectively playing with 2 different teams in League & Cup. Now that they are out of all the Cups, the Tonbridge carreers of Rook, Westcott, Starkey et al have began in earnest & that is showing in results of late. They need a new goalkeeper mind, as every time I've seen them this season, Matt Reed has dropped a clanger! For their part, The Stones are a punters nightmare in that they're infuriatingly inconsistant, capable of contrasting perfomances in each half even! They are capable of winning this, but The Angels have found a bit of consistantcy & I fancy them to take the points tody.
