I've been a bit slack this week due to work issues but here goes with some early selections: Halesowen Town away at Hemel Hempsted Town (13/10 Bet365) I've been bullish about Halesowen's chances for a season now, and I've been involved in the antepost market this summer, so I'm breaking my own rule by taking them this early in the match betting. But that's partly due to Hemel's none-too-sprightly start. Narrow wins over Bedford and Mangotsfield are nothing to get too excited about, although it's fair to say they did okay at Farnborough. But Halesowen are in a different class, with a heavy training regime that will give them the legs late on in games. They've scored eight to Hemel's three, and with Dean Brennan back after suspension they should have more than enough for a Hemel side that looks a touch weaker than the squad that ended last season somewhat limply. Bashley at home to Banbury United (10/11 Skybet) A decent price about a side that I still don't think will hit the heights of last season and is suffering from injuries, but still look reasonably competitive. Striker Richard Gillespie is off the mark, and their rebuilt side is playing with some spirit. The same perhaps can't be said of Banbury United, even though they've picked up a couple of results, but beyond the much-coveted striker Nicky Gordon and the whole-hearted Tom Breward, there isn't a lot to get excited about in the squad. I also like the 8/11 about Guiseley, but want something to double it with.

Very quickly, but going to take Maidstone United again this weekend, at Evs at home to Hendon. Maidstone did the business for me in clinical fashion at Hastings, and as I said then they look a different team this season. Hendon have struggled this season after losing some of their better performers in the summer. The price is with Corals.

Another for tomorrow will have to be Cambridge City at home to Mangotsfield United. Cambridge City are some way from their fluent best yet, but they are up against a side that is struggling and travelling fairly light to Cambridge tomorrow. The widespread 4/7 is okay, but Bet365's 11/8 HT/FT is pretty tasty too.

Carshalton Athletic away at Billericay Town (15/8 Skybet) A risk, given that Hamid Barr might still be missing for the visitors, and his partnership with Richard Jolly has been on fire this season. Billericay are suffering even greater pressures from absentees, especially in defence, and that could be crucial this weekend. Both sides need to bounce back from dismal bank holiday displays, and it's taking something of a punt on team news to suggest that Carshalton will be in the better state come this time tomorrow, but at this handsome price I'll take that risk.

| A mate went to Canvey on Monday where he said Billericay had a stinker and were stuffed 4-0 so you could be on to something here with Carshalton but what I would say is Billericay are usually very strong at home and dont lose at New Lodge ofter. Nothing has changed this season, where they have won their opening two home games so I wouldnt go in too heavy mate but you are a Non League expert ![]()
