Initial thought lie with Everton who did well to battle to a draw at Old Trafford yester day. West Ham came a cropper at Blackburn and won't envy a bruising battle with David Moyes' 'Dogs of War!'

You'll like to thnk so steve. Wigan frustrated Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge and for that reason alone I'll not be having an interest in the match. If I had to it may well be under 2.5 goals at 1.85 with sportingodds

I think chelsea had quite a few chances and 1-0 may have flattered wigan, the big question for wigan tomorrow if you ask me is-can they score? let's not forget that utd are still on a decent run and the loss in portugal and home draw to everton aren't the end of the road neccessarily for this form!

.......Also they've lost 3/4 games on the trot have Wigan and it makes you wonder has the bubble burst.

I know they've played top opposition and apart from the Liverpool game have only been beat by an odd goal but they've have slipped down the leaghu a little and it makes you wonder what its done for morale and confidence.

Maybe NIGWAFC could shed some light on this. He always gives good info on his club.

It'd be my pleasure Steve!

To start off, on Saturday, we adapted a much more defensive formation, and Cheslea struggled to break us down. They started with 2 wingers, Duff and Robben, and both were eventually brought off when Mourinho decided that they werent getting any change - should United adopt a similar policy tonight then expect them to struggle to get behind us too. As for the number of chances they created, it was very minimal - especially considering we were at Chealsea, and even in my blind optimistacy reckon we were well worth the draw. We never ventured forth much ourselves mind - in fact only recall us having 1 shot on target the whole match! But the overall performance was much better than that at Anfield where, for most parts, we were well outplayed.

As for our recent run, yep weve lost 4 on the bounce now, against the crop of the division. Bar the Liverpool game though, we havent been disgraced, and have only lost by the odd goal in 3 of the 4. I see no reason why the game tonight wont be any different. Although many may reckon that our bubble has burst and that the players will be low on confidence, this aint true. The players are actually revelling playing against the better opposition, and are working as hard as ever to get a result. This will be no more so than on Wed night, as this will be the game that most of the players will have looked out for when the fixtures came out, with the added incentive of it being somewhat of a derby game for us. Its also the last game of our mad 5 fixture list, and having got nothing so far, reckon we'll be well up to try and get something out of it.

I'll post the team news as I get it - most probably tomorrow, but in the mean time ponder this little story;

When Dave Whelan took over just over 10 years ago, he was first offered the opportunity of buying Man U. He actually went as far as having all the paperwork in his lap, and after an evening of hesitation, decided against it - as he reckoned that all the Man U 'loving' supporters of the country would then never buy any of his items from his beloved JJB shops, as theyd take the attitude 'were not giving any of our money to Man U!' Soon after he bought ourselves, and at the time a very close friend who sits on the board at Man U laughed at him and said 'what the 'ell are you doing buying Wigan when you could have had United?!' Dave W promptly turned round to him at the time and said 'One day I'll bring my team to Old Trafford and we'll beat you!'. When we got promoted last May, the same guy rang Dave W up and after congratulating him, commented on how hed wished hed never laughed at him, and was now somewhat concerned about Wigan Ath visiting Old Trafford! Now knowing that Dave W is a proud and ambitious man, Id be none what surprised if the players tomorrow night are on a massive win bonus to get the result - as hes done this exact sort of thing before.

My initial thoughts for tomorrow though are as Davidmphill suggested, with it being a low scoring game - wouldnt like to say which way though!

Everton fan here, we will win against West Ham on wednesday night, i went to the game against united on sunday and we thoroughly deserved the point and we shud have won the game, on 3 occasions we had 2 on 1's and if it wasnt for Bent being incapable of passing a ball, we would have won. Mcfadden is on good form and beattie is gettin sharper, everton are getting better after an awful start. Anyways, everton are in good form, winning 4 of the last 6, drawing 1 and only one defeat. Cahill is still suspended, but a doubt DM will change the team that played on sunday so neville and davies will continue in the centre. There wont be many goals in the game IMO so <2.5 is an option.

Come on you blueboys!!

Good luck betting

adding to that, Arteta returns from suspension and will be considered, he played well scoring a great goal against Blackburn before being suspended for the trip to united. He may well come in, which only adds to the strength of the Everton team.

man u's current state of affairs is incredibly unstable.

im staying far away from this match as i predict another shock result!

i think man u haven't sunk lower enough and they haven't hit rock bottom like everyone predicts...infact they are doing pretty well only around 10 points behind chelsea!!!

but they are incredibly unpredictable!!!! and not the same strength they use to be!! everyone seems to be getting upset at there results and i think its because they have such a massive reputation!!! SO my advice is never have them as a guarante...or a very likely bet!!!

im not touching this bet accept for a silly accumalator that has this match being over 1.5! and a 0-0!!

Man Utd, 7 home league games this seaon, only 9 goals scored and 5 let in. (they have averaged nearly 3 goals a game away from home, wierd huh ?)

Wigan 7 away games this season, scored 7 goals. let in 6.

I've only not seen one Man Utd game this season, problem in their team is they can't score enough goals. I'm not sure that we can blame Rooney or RVN, there is no danger on the wings, Giggs is a shadow of himself, Ronaldo falters to decieve. Park shows promise, but doesn't get the games. The lack of Hienze hurts, a lot.But they are tight at the back, VDS is in good form, rio and wes are starting to gel.

I think this will be a low scoring Man Utd win, 1-0 or 2-0 being the most likely scores. I'll be on the under 2.5 goals tonight. Perhaps small stakes on the home win as well

I'm on Wigan +1.5 - prices are shortening on this one. Only lost one game [home & away] by more than a goal which was away to Liverpool + the influential De Zeeuw should be back for Wigan.

Man only won 1 home league game by more than one - Portsmouth. Even away from home that would read Everton,Sunderland,Newcastle & Charlton - all teams who are either worse than Wigan or with very poor home form [charlton] or were in a run of poor poor form and playing badly when beat.

I will back man utd to win this game, i think they might win it comfortably too, RVN is back and they need him cos Louis Saha looked terrible. Man Utd win here, they are not in a crisis and will not want the crowd too booooo them after this match aswell

Just to add, no Gabbidon for West Ham either so it could be Christian Daily at the back, who lets jus say is a bit dodgy!

Totally, totally agree with the comment on Daily..... this could be a very long night for west ham, I don't think we do very well at Everton or score if my past memories of going to Everton serve me right.

Man Ud -1.25 (1.94) @ Ladbrokes

I've lost alot of money on Man Utd this season so far on the asians, as they have just simply not been putting in the convincing displays, however their performence against Everton was one which created the most chances i've seen for them this season, and they fully deserved to win that one IMO. They defend a pretty small handicap here when you consider the fact that the opposition have been poor of late, and the early season form is nothing but a distant memory for Wigan, I cant see Man Utd failing to win again, so i would hope that only 4 out of the 8/10 stakes are in danger here.

Team news from the Wigan camp is a bit mixed. Henchoz took a knock on Saturday but is expected to start. As for DeZeuww, Jewells keeping this one close to his chest, but rumours are suggesting that he wont be risked and Jackson will continue to fill in in his absence - Id be surprised if DeZeuw did start or even made the bench.

What is surprising (maybe but the again maybe not) is that its rumoured were gonna go for it tonight, instead of adopting the defensive attitude we took on Saturday v Chelsea. PJ is concerned that in the last few matches we havent scored - or looked like scoring - due to the formation hes played, so along with Uniteds apparent unease, is tempted to go for it a bit more. Therefore expect Roberts and Camara to start up front, along with a midfield of Bullard and Kavanagh. Only other doubt is McCulloch who took another knock at the weekend, and to be honest has been playing with a dodgy knee for the best part of the season - wouldnt be surprised to see him left out.

Personally Im leaving this one well alone tonight - expect absolutely anything can happen, anything from a 5-0 drubbing for us, to a thrilling 3-3 draw, and even maybe a dull 0-0 - however Im sorely thinking the latter is looking more and more unlikely, as Ive a gut feeling there'll be a few goals tonight, especially if we do end up having a go. Hence Id avoid the under 2 goals as has been suggested - but hey I may still be wrong!

Good luck to those of you who do have a flutter on this one!

Right Im off down the road, to grab a few jars before entering Fergies theatre of dreams - heres hoping that its more of a pantomine as far as Utd are concerned! Catch yer all tomorrow!

hmm not sure on that one mate, Utd had a bit of possesion in the first half and creating a few 'half chances' but they looked terrible in the second half, and they didnt create much at all. Everton had clear cut chances and we shud have won, obviously IMO. If thats the most chances for United this season then i'd be seriously worried if i was a Man Utd fan. I'd still back untd tonight tho, mainly cos RVN is back.

Like NIGWAFC

I fancy a few goals in the MU/Wigan game, the Wigan games I have seen always look quite open affairs, so I think they are due a game with more than 3 goals in it. MU are getting very unpredictable and I think its in their interests to take a few risks at home. I don't think their fans will want them to sit back and try and win 1-0, after the last 2 games. They have also taken quite a bit of stick in the last week, so Wigan might get a bit of a backlash. There were some goals around last night which suggests the weather might help on the goals front. Both teams appear to have problems with defensive players so I think 5 goals in the game is a better possibility than most people would think, probably 17-18% chance, so for some interest I have taken the 8.0 available on Betfair for over 4 goals as a value bet. I am usually a bit cautious about buying goals, especially after the low scoring games at the beginning of the season, but the goals tally has been rising since September in the EPL.

Well going off Nigwafc's info info I'm even more baffled by this game. As its on telly and I'm off to the pub to watch it then its only fair to put on a small punt.

My head says UTD but my heart wants Wigan to win. Maybe backing goals or corners might be a better bet. Judging by NIGWAFC's assessment Wigan will look to attack and if thats the case it could well be a goal feast especially if there's an early score. Might also go over 11 on the corner count.
