i know this is an obvious one but prob go for a man u, arsenal and chlesea treble.

also think there is good value in watford beating wigan.

west ham to beat man city at home with carlos tevez finally getting a goal.

Hello

Arsenal - Sheffield Utd: Arsenal win. The Gunners have started in Manchester last weekend. They must win in Emirates Stadium.

Reading - Man Utd: Man U simply the best team in the Premiere League nowdays. MU win the match.

Sport Football (Eng - Prem)
Event Portsmouth - Bolton
Selection Portsmouth
Strength 10/10
Date 25/09/2006
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 2.10 (Back)
Reasoning I'm starting to look like a Pompey-fan, backing them every week, but I really don't see why the bookies keep on giving us these prices. They have a good midfield, great defense and with Lualua back a good offense. Bolton are not playing brilliantly, they were lucky with their win against Watford and since then played 0-0 against Middlesbrough, both at home. And they are not any better away.
On their injurylist are:

Henrik Pedersen F 2 0-0(Is played as an allarounder for some reason, great player in my eyes, but not really anything that'll weaken the squad)
Joey O'Brien M 0 0-0
Kevin Davies F 3 1-0
Ricardo Gardner D 0 0-0

Biggest injury-worry must be Kevin Davies, but they've just brought in Anelka, he's a great player when in form.

I give Pompey 50 % chance of a victory in this match, which gives us a betvalue of 105 %.

Happy punting!

Have to agree with Portsmouth, great value here. Allied to the fact that Bolton have off-the-field troubles brewing as well, Allardyces preparation cannot be the best for this match! Wonder if he'll give interviews to BBC after the game.

IMO Bolton haven't really improved on last year, the same accusations can't be levelled at Pompey.

Man U started the season well, but have slipped somewhat. Celtic created quite a bit against them, and Arsenal could have scored more. With Giggs and Park out, they look bereft of ideas on one wing. Reading are probably the best of the promoted sides, but still Man U should get through. The price is unappetising, though.

Had forgotten about the Allardyce-stuff, but that just adds to the value!

City are a real shambles following their cup defeat at Chesterfield. The question is how they'll respond on Saturday. It could go either way. However, although West Ham are still to impress in their away games, I think that the value lies with them.

haha i too am confused as to the pricing on portsmouth but im not complaining! once again i will back them here as well... bolton have not impressed me yet and pompey 1st team have great chemistry.

man utd i think although somewhat struggling recently will prevail over reading... however the price is not so hot so i am unsure yet if i will put any on this one. same thing goes for arsenal, price is even worse. on AH sheff utd is +1.5 +2 so that might be worth a very small bet at 1.96 since arsenals prices are crap. can a semi-awakening arsenal team score 3 at home do you think? im not sure they can.

i will gladly back villa at home they havent been amazing but they are getting things together i feel and playing a choppy charlton team.

2 matches though that im undecided on are wigan/watford. anyone think watford can pull this off on the road? im tempted to take +.5 AH Watford on this. im also tempted to take everton +.5 AH at newcastle. i know magpies play well at home, but the way everton are playing lately makes me feel they can pull at least a draw off (AH bet would win).

for sure bets: portsmouth or portsmouth -.5 AH (AH has better value as of right now), villa
leaning: everton +.5 AH, watford +.5 AH, west ham +.5
small shot: sheff utd +1.5 +2

hmm lots of these matches are tempting!! theres a lot of away teams that i think are on form are or are getting there/facing weaker opponents... so tempting. ill post up more later once ive done a bit more reading.

Boro/Blackburn

Worst cup result in 17 years for Boro last night has laid a dark shadow across the Riverside. Southgate changed 8 of the 11 from the Bolton game and paid the price. Only 3 senior players started last night and both Mendieta and Viduka did not do themselves any favours. I expect whole sale changes for the Blackburn game with Schwarzer, Pogatetz, Davies, Woodgate, Downing, Rockembach, Yakubu, Euell, Morrison and possibly Boateng if fit returning. Boateng and Downing missed the Bolton away game through minor injuries and suspension for the Boat.

Blackburn picked up 3 useful points last week in a close tussle with Man City according to PR's stats. They rested in midweek, and have a UEFA Cup on Thursday. Their 2 away games have not seen them play particularly well, losing 3-0 at Pompey and drawing 0-0 at Sheff United who missed 2 pens to Blackburn missed one.

It should be a tense close encounter and my odds reflect the odds you would expect for a perfectly balanced game.

My stats

Boro 47%
Draw 26.5%
Blackburn 26.5%

Aston Villa to bt Charlton @ 1.80 *B365* 10/10

Don't quite understand the price, even BF going a tad worse than this. 4/5 would be excellent value even just looking at the current form - rejuvenated AV under Martin O'Neill are in Top 5 atm, while struggling Charlton 3rd from the rock bottom of the league. AV 2-3-0, Charlton 1-0-4 AND AV 2-0-0 @ home, whole Charlton 0-0-2 away. Add to this a very good looking H2H record - AV 5-1-0 @ home, last defeat dated 8/5/98. I would take back the Villans @ 4/6 without hesitation, 4/5 represents a standout price and I wonder whether B365 staff know something I don't, but still feel very confident.

Liverpool v Tottenham 1-1 @ 2.25

Liverpool played much better in first half and I think that after Newcastle thay wont have any trouble with Tottenham.
Maybe Xavi Alonso score another magnificent goal.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Match: Arsenal – Sheffield United
Pick: Arsenal –1.75
Odds: 1.862 @ Pinnacle
Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: Arsenal scored a tremendous win against Manchester United last week and would most certainly hope to kick-start their season and to go on a winning run. The visit of Sheffield United would probably be a welcomed. With Henry and Van Persie returning to the squad from injuries, Arsenal is almost at full strength. The vision of Fabregas has been crucial in recent games and I reckon he would once again be influential in this match especially when up against a light-weight midfield of Sheffield United. All is not well at Sheffield United and the lack of firepower upfront is starting to alarm fans. Right now, they cannot buy a goal if they wanted to and have scored just 1 in their previous 5 league games. I fancy them to once again come up blank and concede a few against a rejuvenated Arsenal squad. A crucial match for both teams here but the quality possessed by Arsenal should be telling in the end. Arsenal to win 3-0.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Match: Liverpool - Tottenham
Pick: Liverpool –0.75
Odds: 1.825 @ Bet365
Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: My preseason favorites of Liverpool are finally starting to come good as much as I disapprove of their rotation policy. The loss last week against Chelsea would have been huge if they had not come back into midweek to register a win against Newcastle. Despite that, Liverpool has no choice but to start playing catch-up and garner as many points as possible and hope that their rivals stumble along the way. This match pits them against a hapless Tottenham who have found no answer to their striking problems. Martin Jol seems to have dismantled a great squad from last season and as unbelievable as it may sound, they are struggling to score. 4 great strikers in the likes of Mido, Defoe, Keane, Berbatov should have made it easy enough but lack of a supply line in midfield, it is proving a huge task. Liverpool on the other hand has proved that their midfield is capable of creating whichever side they put out and with Gerrard and particularly Alonso on song, I fancy Tottenham’s midfield to be overrun. Defensive frailties have been addressed it seems and coupled with Liverpool’s great abundance in striking talents, Liverpool should have no problems against a stuttering Tottenham here. Liverpool to win 3-0.

West Ham have put in there worst performances in the year 2006 in the last 3 games. We have been unable to string 3 passes together and the sad tactics have been give the ball to Tevez and lets see what he can do - it as not worked in 3 games and I see west ham going back to old team and tactics on Saturday with both Harewood and Mullins coming in for the Argies - and Benayoun coming in for Bowyer in a 4-4-2 formation.

Personally I see the pressure off West Ham being away from Upton Park and I see a 1-2 win to the away BUT with Man City going 1-0 up.... could be wrong but you never know.
