We will see Loki, but I cant see anything other than a Chelsea win here.

A clear example of how statistics can be used to prove anything...

If it were newcastle away at chelsea and newcastle hadnt won at stanford bridge in 5 years then that would be used as a reason to back chelsea.

dont care who wins, as long as there's over 2.5 goals in the Newcastle/Chelsea game, Newcastle unbeaten in 7 games now, Viduka/Owen/Martins can score plenty between them and even boring Chelsea should attack, as long as Newcastle get the 1st goal, then overs shoudl be a solid bet, otherwise it will be 0-1.

over 2.5 goals @ 2.12

off to the bookies , taking chelsea at 8/15 , £80 stake , £122 return and then £10 stake on draw/chelsea at 3/1 returns £40

ReasoningA few people are sweet on Newcastle getting a result here but Chelsea have looked powerful in recent weeks and I can envisage them sneaking this. Whilst its true to say that Newcastle have improved, a glance at their last 5 home games tells us that their goalscoring has been done against defensively weak sides. 2-0, 3-0 and 2-0 against Sunderland, Reading and Fulham are decent results but its obvious that Terry and Carvalho will present adifferent challenge than the likes of Hughes, Nosworthy and Duberry. I expect a Chelsea win, but not by a large margin.

My bet for today in the EPL:

Newscastle-Chelsea
Chelsea needs a win here and are the favorites (no doubt) but this should be a tough game for them as they haven't won at St. James Park in the last 5 seasons (0-2-3 record) and Newcastle has not lost in their last 7 games (winning their last 3 home games). Even though it wasn't against top teams, we're talking about the EPL and not some lowly league where nobody knows the name of most of the clubs, so we've gotta give them some credit (well, they won 1-4 away against the Spurs and drew 0-0 away against Portsmouth and I think that's pretty good).
I see heavy public action on Chelsea which is giving the draw bet some "value" so I'll take it.
My pick: draw;

Good luck!

I really find it mystifying when people give their reasoning as "Team X simply HAS to win". Leicester HAD to win yesterday, Doncaster HAD to win yesterday, Chelsea HAD to win against Wigan, Liverpool HAD to win against Chelsea in the CL - didn't make it happen. Both Man Utd and Chelsea HAVE to win in Moscow, so should we all back the draw?

Chelsea winning is obviously the most likely outcome, but I'm struggling to bring myself to back it at 1.6ish. They are away at a team in form, even if that form is against weaker teams. There will be a big crowd relishing being part of the title race, and players relishing the opportunity to write their names into this years title history. There is no value at all in the Chelsea win, so imho the prudent thing is to look at other betting options within the game.

Did not watch the game so I don't know what happened, just noticed that Chelsea scored the 1st goal after 60m...
