Reading - Aston Villa

Reading should be a clear underdog here with their recent three (in a row) 0-2 loses on home ground. Other than that this should be the perfect matchup for teh visitors' frontline as they have been producing really well, 21 goals scored in last ten games. That kind of attack against piss poor Reading defense that has conceded 20 goals in last ten games, the math should be obvious. Also Reading's poor form in offensive end is noticable with only nine goals produced in last ten games. Aston Villa should pretty much win by more than one goal as their offense should be too much for the home side and can't see Reading scoring today. Still I didn't take away win, just a feeling... maybe Villa scores the first goal and Reading finally wakes up to the challenge (pure specualtion ofcourse, not a fan of it.. nevermind that ). So I took Aston Villa to score first @1.85 which is too much in this matchup if you ask me. Hopefully they'll produce the needed pressure right from teh beginning and Reading's defense lines will break, just like they've just to do.

Barclays Premier League
Reading v Aston Villa 12:30
The big Premiership game on Sunday sees last season’s wonder Reading take on this year’s form team Aston Villa at the Madjeski Stadium. Reading have been fighting against the ‘second season syndrome’ all campaign and unfortunately it looks like they might end up on the losing side.
There’s something unfamiliar about Reading sitting in the bottom three, such has been the speed they’ve found their way there. But then that’s what happens when you lose seven straight league games. Boss Steve Coppell will have spent much time soul searching over this shocking run, but he’ll know that now is not the time to go over what’s happened.
It’s time to start collecting points. Unfortunately for the Royals, Aston Villa are also on a run, but theirs is of a different kind. Martin O’Neill’s team have lost just once in ten league matches and are earning rave reviews for playing exciting, expansive football. Villa are in with a real chance of finishing in the top four and will see this game against struggling Reading as a great opportunity to seal another victory.
Bearing this in mind, bookmakers have placed Villa as favourites, pricing them at 7/5 Centrebet to get the away win, while BetterBet have priced Reading at 7/4 to reinstall some pride at the Madjeski Stadium.

H2H's
2008-01-12 Aston Villa 3-1 Reading
2007-02-10 Reading 2-0 Aston Villa
2006-08-23 Aston Villa 2-1 Reading

I cant see Villa losing this match.

Blackburn v Bolton
Stephen Warnock has urged Blackburn to kick off another unbeaten run against Bolton on Sunday in order to keep their European hopes alive.
Rovers' seven-match streak came to an end against Arsenal two weeks ago but Warnock says his team-mates have returned refreshed from a sunshine break in Florida and can get back on track.
Rovers' season looked in danger of tailing off into oblivion during a poor end to 2007 but a much-improved festive programme breathed new life into boss Mark Hughes' troops.
Now sitting in ninth place in the Premier League table, Warnock insists there is no reason why Rovers cannot hit form at the right time and reclaim that UEFA Cup berth.
Blackburn will, once again, be without Andre Ooijer and Ryan Nelsen for their clash with Bolton.Ooijer has not yet recovered from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the defeat by Arsenal a fortnight ago, while Nelsen remains on the sidelines with his own hamstring problem.Rovers are boosted by the return of Christopher Samba, who has served a two-match ban after picking up 10 yellow cards.David Dunn and Morten Gamst Pedersen also come back into the reckoning after suspension.
Bolton gaffer Gary Megson is expected to freshen up his side for the short trip to face Blackburn in the Premier League on Sunday.
Wanderers caused a shock by claiming a goalless draw with Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital to seal a 1-0 aggregate win - and with two games in four days Megson may feel the need to rest some tired legs.
Gretar Steinsson and Tamir Cohen were cup-tied against Atletico but are now available, while Ricardo Gardner and Heidar Helguson are fighting to be fit after missing out on Thursday.

H2H's

2005-09-11 Bolton 0-0 Blackburn
2005-01-24 Blackburn 0-1 Bolton
2004-12-28 Bolton 0-1 Blackburn
2004-01-10 Blackburn 3-4 Bolton
2003-08-23 Bolton 2-2 Blackburn

2002-12-07 Bolton 1-1 Blackburn
2002-03-02 Bolton 1-1 Blackburn
2001-09-19 Blackburn 1-1 Bolton

A fully refreshed Blackburn could well nick this 1-0, but its not one for the coupon accy.

I fancy Reading and Blackburn today as value bets.

Reading reserve their best performances for home. Villa looked poor at Fulham in a similar game.

I see Reading having a better than 30% chance of victory, so have taken 3.45 and 3.35 available on Betfair. In contrast Ladbrokes quote 2.75.

5pts@3.35
7pts@3.45

Blackburn are playing Bolton at the perfect time. As a Boro fans I remember how difficult it was to play important UEFA matches a few days before league matches and have to use the same players. Its draining. Blackburn have rested of late and will want to push for a top 7 place.
I have Blackburn in a treble with 2 winners from yesterday and will not lay them.

I have also layed Rangers in Scotland 30pts@1.12, my liability is only 3.70pts and again they have played a big Euro match mid week.

Our injured players are starting to return and although the last couple of results have been poor (to say the least) we should get the job done here at 2.80.

Not only 3 points but I tipped us on PL too. Poor game but we deserved it and were well cheered on by our 5,000 strong travelling army.

ReasoningMan City have come off a very good win against United and will tonight look to get back to winning ways at home. They've won 7 of the last 8 times they've hosted Everton and IMO there is good value in the home team tonight.

Can't see past a draw for tonight's game. Although they won at Old Trafford last time out, I'm still not convinced about City. Prior to the derby win, they were in poor form and I'm sure the sombre mood had a detrimental effect on the United players' performances that day. Benjani is putting chances away but he couldn't hit a barn door last season and Harry Redknapp was quick to let him go in the January transfer window.

Everton are currently having a great season and come into this game on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of SK Brann in the UEFA Cup last week. The basis of this good form has been a solid defence and Moyes has overseen a run that has seen his team concede only once in it's last 6 league games. They also have a pair of excellent strikers on their day in Yakubu and Johnson who will come into this game confident after scoring last time out.

Although I see Everton finishing above City come the end of the season, I think this will be a tight one. Although I have my reservations about City, they do have players returning tonight and with home advantage, they have put me off backing Everton outright. Both teams would accept a point IMO and I see a low-scoring draw being the most probable outcome.

1pt Man City v Everton - Draw @ 3.3 (Betfair)

Best of luck all...

This post covers it all and more, I agree with the prediction of a draw and feel that it's likely the draw will be 1-1. I think both teams will play out a tightly contested game which will be close for the first half hour, until one team goes ahead, most likely Everton but Manchester City equalising lateish on.

Man City v Everton

Live on Setanta Sports 1, k/o 8:00pm

The big match on Monday night sees a battle between the Champions League hopefuls when Man City take on Everton at the City of Manchester Stadium. If Sven-Goran Eriksson's side win at home they’ll draw level with the Toffees on 47 points and, potentially, with Aston Villa and Liverpool, if both win at the weekend. Which means the race for fourth place is almost as exciting as the battle for the title. Everton go into this match on the cusp of a six match unbeaten run in the Premiership. Sven will hope his side’s two-week lay off won’t have put them in a holiday mood, because an Everton team hardened by two UEFA Cup matches will be quick to punish them. .

H2H's
2008-01-12 Everton 1-0 Man.City
2007-01-01 Man.City 2-1 Everton
2006-09-30 Everton 1-1 Man.City

2005-10-02 Man.City 2-0 Everton
2004-12-26 Everton 2-1 Man.City
2004-09-11 Man.City 0-1 Everton
2004-05-15 Man.City 5-1 Everton
2003-12-07 Everton 0-0 Man.City
2003-01-01 Everton 2-2 Man.City

Man City (from): Hart, Onuoha, Richards, Dunne, Ball, Vassell, Ireland, Hamann, Jihai, Elano, Corluka, Fernandes, Petrov, Garrido, Benjani, Caicedo, Geovanni, Johnson, Mpenza, Sturridge, Etuhu, Isaksson.

Everton (from): Howard, Hibbert, Neville, Jagielka, Yobo, Lescott, Valente, Baines, Arteta, Carsley, Osman, Cahill, Fernandes, Pienaar, Johnson, Yakubu, Anichebe, Vaughan, Wessels.

Despite City slipping down the table after the terrific start to the Premiership season they are still undefeated bar 1 game at home and face an Everton side out of the Champion Leagues place by goal difference alone but they have lost 4 games on the road and drawn 3. I can see honours shared tonight by a goal each.

1-1 Draw. 11/2 with Coral

Man City under 2.5

Both teams have very good defences and will probably cancel out the respective strikers who haven't really showed much this year.

Man City have gone under in 5 of their last 7 games including 2 of their last 3 at home while Everton have gone under in 5 of their last 6 games including 2 of their last 3 away.

Everton have not conceded a goal in their last 3 games and have only scored 1 in those games. While they ahve the better recent form they do tend to struggle at City. Everton beat City 1-0 at home only 5 games ago, so should be another tight game

Agreed. no point in guessing whos going to win because both are very good teams, or the correct score. Unders is the safest bet of them all.

MANCHESTER C-EVERTON

Most have already been said about this one, so I will keep my reasoning short. I've taken two bets earlier today, the under 2,5 beeing the most logical. City have gone over in their last 2 games, but are a very hard nut to crack at their home. They pulled of a great result at Old Trafford, winning 1-2 but have otherwise been down in form recently. Everton is a team I feel could very well grab the 4th spot. They are a strong team, and I think we will see a very close game today. These are two teams fighting it out for the 4th spot and much is at stake here.

Score prediction: 1-1

Pick 1: Under 2,5 goals - 1,65 @ Unibet (3/10) --
Not availible anymore, I can still find 1,60 at Betsafe though.
Pick 2: CS 1-1 - 6,40 @ Unibet (0.5/10)

Agree about the City unders, have that in a double with the Panathinaikos vs Rangers game as unders from last week.

53% of City's home games, and 61% overall, have been under, while Everton are 61% away and 57% overall. Decent enough stats for it, and then there is the fact that this is a game both teams will be as much interested in not losing as winning. City have gone under in 5 of their last 7, Everton in 5 of their last 6.

One interesting bet may well be Joleon Lescott at 25/1 as 1st goalscorer. He has achieved this 4 times in 26 games, and with what is expected to be a tight game here this could be a pretty god value long shot, as a goal from a set-piece could well be what separates the sides.

So that's three of us who predict 1-1 for tonight's game. Who's now going to go out there lay that score and make the money?

I think Lescott is a good shout for first scorer and I was considering backing a 1-1/Lescott first goal scorecast too myself. That scorecast is available at a very tempting 95/1 with Will Hill. So £5 on, and it wins, could well pay for a holiday!

With everyone on the 1-1 draw I will only concentrate on this league if it ends like that, would be the easiest tip all over...I am on draw at half time at 2,00, number of goals 2-3 at 1,90 and over 125 mins on goals total, each one with 5 points, no reasoning needed I think, it's all above - a 1-1 draw
Good luck
