Any truth to Tevez getting ready to join Manchester City?

yeah, looks that way.

Ego thing, he wants game time and to be first choice.

It's a squad game these days.

Good move from a money situation for Carlito, but he's won his last title and played in his last champions league final. Only 25 years old. Shame

A bit of a bold statement to make that Tevez wont win the league or play in Champions League final. When Chelsea were taken over i think they finished fourth, and then second behind the Arsenal 'invincibles' before winning the Premier League twice. Man City have a lot more money to splash than Chelsea so i wouldn't be too quick to rule anything out. I'm not saying they will win either in the next five years but definitely don't rule it out for them if Tevez joins.

Chelsea were already an established top 6 side though, and being based in London it is much easier to breed success. Abramovich's millions brought them on to a slightly higher level, and the success they had was also largely down to Jose Mourinho.

In my opinion also, Manchester City could spend £200million this season and still not break the top four.

We'll see. They might push the top four close, but they'd have to attain close to 90 points to win the EPL. That is something, which isn't going to happen because every side from 20th through to 5th aren't yet going to show them the respect that the top four sides often get. That is also something which won't change in the next five years because City will never be considered one of the elite. Every side will fancy their chances still.

Manchester aint too bad for attracting players though. There isn't just all of the Man United's superstar squad that have attracted big names... money talks. City have Robinho and Barry going for the money as well as the potential in the next few years. If some of the big players that have been linked do soon then other players will follow. So my point was if say Tevez, Toure, Eto'o sign they will progress as a team. I answered AJ's comment that you can't rule them (and Tevez if he goes) winning the title in four/five years + time. I never said they'd win it next season, i know they wont.

Looks like Glen Johnson's off to Liverpool. Great signing for them. The best right fullback you could buy in the EPL.

I just prey our takeover happens soon because we're still being linked with mediocre Championship players.....I'd much rather start the new season with Samuel Eto'o up front!

There is some good betting markets around on the summer transfers. Ribery was 6's a while back to sign for utd.

Beckford has got to be one of the most over-rated players in the lower leagues. Wouldn't score any more than 10-12 goals in the Championship, so god knows why Prem clubs are always linked with him.

As for Delph I think he could be a decent player, but its hard to tell.

On the West Ham front, we want Shevchenko on loan for the season.

birmingham have had a £5m price agreed for Roger Johnson - would be really sad to lose him, he's easily our best CB

Huddlestone is a quality player, in my mind one of the best passers of a ball in the world. His technical ability is second to none. On the other side, he's quite slow, soft and can be seen as lazy. Just depends what West Ham need in the centre of midfield, if they want a creative midfielder 6 million is a steal. If they want a work horse, who's guna break up play etc, i wouldnt pay £100 for Huddlestone.

Pompey have accepted a bid of £12 million from Sunderland for Peter Crouch!

Although, that would leave us with 14 professionals at the club....I'm hoping this can be the impetus we need, once the takeover is completed to oust the underperforming overpaid cnuts that Redknapp shipped in and rebuild the team. Hopefully we can get back to challenging for Europe.

Disaster! BBC Sport report that Sunderland have dropped their interest in Peter Crouch as he didn't wish to relocate to the North East.

He now looks likely to join either Fulham or Spurs. Fulham are the only other club to have had a bid accepted, but I would think that if 'Arry comes in with an offer, Crouch's first choice would be to link up with him again and form the strike partnership that would have been leathal had Defoe stayed at Pompey.

Am told by several Shrewsbury supporting friends that Grant Holt to Norwich for £500k is a done deal and will be announced in the next day or so.

Will be interesting to see who they spend the money on...

"Portsmouth have accepted an offer from Tottenham for England striker Peter Crouch, says Pompey boss Paul Hart. A reported £10m deal was agreed on Saturday after Spurs made a renewed effort to sign the 28-year-old.
Crouch is expected to sign a five-year deal as he is reunited with former Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp.
"Given the severe financial restraints in place here we had no choice but to accept an offer from Spurs," Hart told the Mirror.
"Obviously, I'm disappointed to see Peter leave. (But) I think people need to realise that Pompey have been punching way above their weight and could no longer sustain the level of spending that has gone on here over the past three years.
"And even though a new owner is poised to come in, our dealings in the market will be modest in comparison to the past."
Crouch is expected to sign early next week and could even travel with the club to Beijing, where Spurs will compete in the Asia Cup alongside West Ham, Hull and Beijing Guoan.
Tottenham, with whom Crouch started his career, will be the third club at which the striker has played under Redknapp, after spells with the 62-year-old at Southampton and Portsmouth in the past.
606: DEBATE

The thing is that I rate Crouch higher than most people do. I think his touch is reasonable and he is quite good at bringing other players into the game

Grandspursforever and ever

The deal comes despite hints from Redknapp last week that it would be too expensive.
He said at the time: "I just feel that for that type of money it is an awful lot of money. It is an expensive deal because there is no return on it.
"I don't know whether it is possible for us to do that type of deal. It is an expensive deal. The whole package looks expensive."
However, Portsmouth reportedly agreed to drop their £12m asking price in order to do the deal after Crouch made it clear he wanted to return to Tottenham.
His arrival could hasten the departure of Darren Bent, with Sunderland reportedly keen to sign the 25-year-old.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, could yet offload more players this summer despite Sulaiman Al Fahim's takeover of the club nearing completion.
The property tycoon has been named Pompey chairman, but Hart does not expect a Manchester City-style spree.
"It's important everybody understands that we have to cut our cloth," Hart, who has been appointed on a permanent basis, told BBC Radio 5 Live. "The days of £20m buys are over in the short-term, but maybe not longer-term."

Mido to Hull for £3.5m if player agrees.

I wouldn't be

It will also give Boro some money to play with.

Sebastian Bassong is set to sign for Tottenham for a fee of around £8 million to cover their defensive injury crisis. Newcastle had wanted over £10 million for him earlier in the summer, but as Mike Ashley has failed to sell the club, the transfer fee has had to be lowered.

Please let the rumours be true that Wenger is prepared to bring Patrick Vieira back to the club.

I am a life long Gooner and am not one of these "anti Spurs" brigade as my old Dad used to support them (i was a great disappointment to him! lol ) but i could not think of Vieira at Spurs

I know he may be past his best but his presence is just what the club need now, especially with so many youngsters in the team, his value would be tremendous both on and off the pitch.

Wenger could pick the games for him to play in to nurse him through a long season and he is still a class player in my opinion.

While Arsene`s at it any chance of him loaning Thierry back for a year!
