| I doubt we would even beat them Mr Barton; we would need team of players for that...... Still not looking too good at Chester. The Administrator's report indicates that the level of debt is pretty staggering with most of it owed either directly to the current chairman or to a company owned by him. |

| The Conference places of Chester and Northwich are still under threat: we'll know more after Monday. Northwich Vics have been denied a place in the BlueSQ North, so will probably end up in the Unibond. Then there's the questions remaining about Newcastle Blue Star and Merthyr Tydfil. No wonder BlueSQ are saying they won't have any BlueSQ N & S prices until the end of the month. |

| But it was.......he broke the rules so they stopped his club signing players. Seems self imposed to me!!

| We've signed Alan White on a 2 year deal from Darlington today. We've also stuck in a bid for Michael Gash at Ebbsfleet but we're waiting for the 30,000 odd tits in charge to press their button or whatever they do . |

| What...White? In other news Northwich Vics have wone their appeal against the Conference refusing them permission to enter BSN. The Conference really couldn't run a piss up in a brewery......

| I'm not sure about Gash, don't think he scores enough goals. A conference version of Heskey if you ask me. We've signed Jai Reason which is great news. |

| Eastbourne have released Simon Wormull today who more than likely end up @ Farnbourgh with former boss Steve King.......

| It's looking very much like Newcastle Blue Star will be wound up this week and certainly won't be competing in the Unibond. Even if they choose administration, they'll have to drop two steps. They've no players or staff, nowhere to play, and both major financial backers have pulled out. Unless someone waves a magic wand between now and the end of the week, or the Unibond League has a contingency plan, I think we'll have a 21-team Unibond Prem this season. |

| Confirmed at the Unibond AGM that Witton are staying where they are - the Unibond Premier will be a 21 team league next year. Be interesting to see how they correct that with ups and downs at the end of the season. |

| Farsley Celtic are in administration - it could have been worse, though it could also mean demotion. Perhaps that's a neat way of filling the hole left by the demise of Newcastle Blue Star. Halesowen Town are facing an FA sanction if they don't settle their football debts in a week's time: they'll be barred from all football. There is, however, a takeover in the wings. The Trophy and FA Cup draws are out: Raynes Park Vale v Farnham Town for me, unless there's a more attractive league game that weekend. |

| No Southern League antepost thread yet, so I'll post this here. Just back from the mid-summer kickabout between Farnborough and a youthful Brentford XI. For those who don't know, Steve King is in at Cherrywood Rd in a full-time capacity, and he's brought in some talent over the summer. The formation - a token 4-2-3-1 - soon became four up front with Anthony Thomas on the left, Bradley Bubb on the right and Dean McDonald and Kezie Ibe in the middle. Even on a lazy summer evening, that's a potent strike force, and it was no surprise to see Ibe score twice in the first half-hour. Two trialist in centre midfield - Sylva Dosso and Jack King - did okay. King was at Didcot last season and has been coverted by at least one team from the BlueSQ South, but there were conflicting reports on whether he was about to sign. Sacha Opinel limped off before half time, but I'm guessing there won't be many right wingers in the SL Prem who'll relish facing him. The Brentford kids managed a goal just after half time, following a mix up between the centre backs, and substitutions inevitably disrupted the match after that, although it was a case of men against boys. I guess I'm not Steve King's biggest fan - it took him a while to get some balance into an excellent Lewes squad - but he has plenty going for him this season. The mood in the Farnborough camp is pretty bullish. |

| Talking of the Southern Prem, it's a big weekend for Halesowen Town. They'll find out whether they will face a ban on being able to compete in the league because they haven't paid a small sum to Cambridge City. Last week it seemed like they could pay, as the club was thought to have access to funds based on a manageable overdrawn current account. But it has since come to light that the club's total debt is over 200k. That leaves a best case scenario of admin, -10, and a fans' takeover in the style of Merthyr, though they have some hoops to jump through to get there. It's safe to say I won't be backing Halesowen in the anteposts this season. |
