Stevied, just read your reply to Daniel Harding tale. What can i say!, have been close to some big payouts, but not on that scale.

For the record, the goal was finally accredited to Greg Pearson, it was a bit of a goalmouth scramble inside the Kettering 6 yard box in which the visiting defence just didn't seem to want to clear .

I see that it is ian hazel assisted by paul harford, chalmers,as the new duo to take you onwards and upwards.Hazel did not do a bad job at sandy lane, when you consider that there was no money available in those days at tooting,he liked to play football at the very least.

As for paul harford, the late ray harford's son,he is well schooled in coaching, has the right badges,i believe and has spent a lot of his own time and money, learning at clubs like mann utd and one or 2 abroad,a very ambitious guy.Again he seemed to do ok at leatherhead.

P ersonally speaking i would have gone for frannie vines,i thought that he did a superb job at crawley,he seemed to have the knack of getting the best out of what he had in front of him.

Well after the positive first half, last week against the terras, allied to the new managers taking over, and the players looking to impress, perhaps the u's may merit a tad of interst at histon tomorrow, who themselves can blow very hot and cold.Good luck chalmers for the trip tomorrow

Just read it, Stevied... Jeez, that's a bad one. I haven't heard of a near miss on such a scale from such a humble stake. Mind you, I still sometimes lose sleep over Daniel Amokachi, whose last minute goal for Nigeria in USA94 cost me a five-figure return... Good luck for the weekend - you've earned some!

i can't understand why bet 365 are out on a limb at 10/11 for lewes at home to stortford.
our ten match unbeaten run came to an end midweek but defeat has been coming for a while. most of the teams played against on that run were teams from the bottom half of the table. we are short of class against teams in the top half such as cambridge and lewes. to add more grist to the mill, we are without influential captain dave rainford due to suspension and are likely to be without our other midfield tackler ryan maxwell. manager martin hayes is desperately trying to draft in some cover as there is nothing else available from his threadbare squad. still, whatever the score, the pints of harveys and the banter with the lewes fans will make up for the disappointment of a defeat - along with my bet 365 voucher.

Yes Ian Hazel was a surprise but seems a young and energetic fella who wants to put his effort into making a success of this management lark at GGL. i'm reliably informed we're changing back to the simpler 4-4-2 which i think will benefit the team, but with regard a victory tomorrow i'm still not convinced just yet, i believe there are changes needed in the playing staff but look forward to him getting us playing football, tactics have been a rarity it seems recently!!

Paul Harford is a good amn to have as an assistant and as you say he's put a lot of effort nto learning the trade so hopefully it will bare fruit!

Both have been working with Fulhams academy it seems so with youth being a big thing at our club we might get some good youngsters in to help the cause as well.

Baring in mind we've not won away since August i think we'd be best watched at Histon, i predict a draw personally.

Witton have signed Shaun Whalley from Runcorn - a decent performer who should add something to their midfield. Doesn't effect my feelings about the outcome of the Ossett game today, but worth noting what Witton are doing on Tuesday night: away at Runcorn.

Sport Football (Eng - Non League)
Event Gravesend v Tamworth
Selection Tamworth
Strength 5/10
Date 18/03/2006
Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 5.00 (Back)
Reasoning Another case of two teams in very poor form playing each other - Both teams have no wins in 6 and only 2 wins in their last ten. I go for Tamworth for value.

Mor Unibond transfer news: Jody Banin has joined Radcliffe on loan from Stalybridge. He's hardly been knocking them in of late, and I've a feeling he was subbed at HT during the midweek cup defeat at Witton, but he's still a canny signing at this level. Not a punt for me, but if he plays I can see some appeal in Sporting Odds 16/5 for their trip to Lincoln Utd.

Accrington again for me. There's really no sign that they are getting tired or unmotivated, and they face one of the strongesr sides today, at home, so that little bit of motivation should do the job for us. They also lost reverse fixture this season, and revenge factor is also on our side here.

Stevenage are doing well lately, but they are far from being a force away from home. They won only 4 games away from home so far, and I really dont expect them to take their 5th at Accrington.

No need to write novels about this one, Accrington can win this one easily, and at nice odds (1.69 at Betfair at the moment), they simply have to be backed. Medium bet.

York are on really great run at the moment and thing I like about them is their consistence - they are able to make awful runs without win, but when they start rolling they do it for a while. I just hope their gerat run won't stop at Canvey who showed some signs of life but against pretty poor opposition.

York are topping form table in Conference with 6 straight wins, and although they haven't so strong opposition in those games, their confidence should be high at the moment. They are also solid away form home lately, and at one of the weakest home sides in league, they should be able to take all 3 points.

They are seriously invloved in play off fight now, and against relatively safe Canvey, I will count on motivation here. Class difference looks solid enough, and this is away win for me.

Just in and a quick scan of the scores suggests I'm just the wrong side of breaking even today. Two of the main plays won, but Chelmsford got done 4-2.

Some good news for the ante-post recommends I posted on here is that Blyth won in the Unibond, while Marine (obviously) didn't, and neither did Frickley. They won't be 13/2 when Stan James' ante-posts go back up, and Northwich won't be 5/2 either.

Nice one ships, on the vics,it does look like they are really starting to get it together now after some recent in and out performances.

I see ships that bet 365 seem to have got the early midweek prices out first, and witton at runcorn is 5/4,looking at the table,6 points behind a flying farsley celtic, who will surely fancy their chances of winning at wakefield, seems to merit some interest. As ever i will await your views with interest.

Default lewes 2-1 stortford

the 10/11 was 4/6 by this morning. lewes never in any danger but didn't impress. 2-0 at half time flattered the home side. stortford got one back in 79th but never looked like equalising.

Just another quick little riposte,i will be looking into afc wimbledon's game at harrow boro,on tuesday, their game in hand ,which will put them back into the play-of places if victorious, and the recent signings of paul barton and luke garrard, plus one more hopefully in time for tuesday's game at earlsmead will make the dons an interesting proposition,at bet 365's first show of 5/4

No value in that mate!

Only just caught up with this post and I should have said we ALWAYS beat Tamworth at home!

Crap match but 2-0 and Tamworth showed why they are where they are.

Ivor - great stuff! Witton look a very good price - Whalley played well today and I'm assuming he'll be playing midweek. 5/4 is worth 3pts - actually, it's worth more. Farsley look pretty good also - a surprising price that. 3/1 Ilkeston takes the eye too for their home match with Marine - a classic case of overpricing of the high-flyer, of which we'll see an awful lot more of in the coming weeks as the season draws to an end.
