Phew. That was close. Squeezed a decent profit but it just shows that nothing can be taken for granted in football. Perhaps Stortford aren't as bad as recent results suggest, or maybe Havant are just a very ordinary team. More the latter than the former I should think.

Actually just on a quick browse I like Kingstonian who had a good win saturday winning 1-0 and they face a harrow side who are lumbered at the wrong half of the table but still produce the good result here and their but i like Kingstonian at Evens. Wealdstone 10/11 form has been patchy of late losing the last 2 but i take them tomorrow to dispatch of Margate who are not as strong as wealdstone. Also Ashford 7/5 undefeated in 12 vs horsham wo have so many injuries they are forced to play the kids, so let looks good price here ![]()

Decent start to the midweek session with Havant landing, although much credit goes to Bishop's Stortford for their performance. To reprise, I'm on some short numbers tonight. Firstly, Buxton at 10/11, which is still there at Skybet and Stan James. I'm also taking 4/6 Truro City again, at home to Hemel with Coral. Hemel have been putting in some better shifts at home, but look at that away record: 0-1-9, with four goals for all season. I'm less convinced than I was a week ago that Truro are on the brink of a good run, but performances have been okay and the price is fine by me. Of the bigger numbers, 2/1 Hendon has gone, but I still fancy them at Maidstone. The 6/4 about Ashford Town (Mddx) at Horsham is still there. Even though Byron Harrison looks to be missing for this one, Jamie Lawrence has got the side playing well, and Brian Haule is in good scoring form. Horsham have been playing okay, but they are plugging the gaps somewhat at the moment and they face a side on a terrific run. I've had some of the 11/8 about Workington at home to Staly, and 7/4 Maidenhead United at St Albans City, although that price has come in slightly. A team news one will be Halesowen Town at Evesham United. Halesowen haven't been startling this year, and Stefan Moore seems to have forgotten how to score, but Evesham are on a terrible run, particularly at home. Skybet's 6/5 seems a little generous. So, for tonight, I'm on Buxton, Truro, Workington, Hendon, Maidenhead and Ashford, and there'll no doubt be one or two interesting spread trades on the BlueSQ Prem matches.

On the subject of the spreads tonight, I'll buy Sporting's 2.95 total goals on the Hayes/Grays match. Spreadex go 3.05 and Extrabet 3.0, so three goals returns a tiny profit. I can see Hayes continuing the good work they produced at Histon, but their defence is pretty creaky, so I wouldn't be surprised at a 3-1, 4-1, 4-2 sort of scoreline. It's hard to know which Grays will turn up, but probably the one that shipped a lot of goals to Oxford and Rushden. There could also be some mileage in selling the time of the third Hayes goal, though that is a little risky at 82.

| Due to a horrific run of results I am no longer betting on the southern league in midweek. Tuesday nights just seem to throw up some inexplicable results, teams at this level just cannot be trusted to win or lose when they are supposed to under the lights. If I was betting, I would like Bashley and Truro (but only at 1.67 or above for Truro). Both are not to be trusted at short prices but they do play inferior opposition who have reasonable travelling distances to overcome. I would also be interested in the draw in the Banbury v Chippenham game.

I'm very cynical where they are concerned, which is why I never bet on them, and why I can't see their run continuing into anything that could be considered "form".

One more spread buy for me: Liam Hatch's player goal minutes at 17 with Sporting Index. I can't call the result of this game, but Luton will certainly go for it rather than hope to cling on for a point, which leads me to think there may be a goal or two (at both ends). As Kevshat has pointed out, Hatch is fit, rested and in form. He should be on the pitch for a decent spell.

Pretty good night. Maidenhead failed - not for the first time I should have listened to Leverstock Green - and I have to apologise for Ashford Town. But there was some good stuff, too - Hendon won at a healthy price, Worko came home, and Truro and Buxton both landed. Add in Havant last night and this shaping up to be a decent month. The spreads were okay, too, with Hayes/Grays making up 4, although I should have bought supremacy. For the record, a sell of the time of the third Hayes goal made up with 20-odd points profit, though some of that went back with the Hatch trade. Great call by Hilly on Blyth tonight and another by Lahrio on the Stevenage -1, but I suspect the happiest person tonight is Kevshat - I just hope he didn't decide to get a flier on 89 minutes.
