Altrincham v Barrow
I think this could be a close game but after watching the Oxford and Barrow game on television on Friday evening i think a small punt on Andrew Bond(Barrow) to be first goalscorer is good bet he came very close to opening the scoring twice against Oxford and always looked a danger and might get more chances against Altrincham.

Prediction:Andrew Bond 1st goalscorer (win)14/1@blue square

A quietish night for me on the spreads, although it's worth noting that there is a rare arb available on the Stevenage/Eastbourne supremacy market - you can buy at 1.1 with Sporting Index and sell at 1.2 with Spreadex. On balance, I think Sporting have it wrong as I would expect Stevenage to bounce back with a few goals. They played some decent stuff at the weekend without scoring, although defensively there are worrying signs, so total goals looks a decent play too, though it is set quite high everywhere.

I mentioned this in my 'Systems & Strategy' thread...I took this last night but was unable to post here, and now the line is no longer available:

Soccer - Lewes/Crawley Town - total Over 2½ (2.01)
for the regulation time held on Aug 12 at 1:45pm [pending]

Right now the line is 1.75...I will wait to see if any game reaches better than 2.00 in the overs market, and take it.

Also, hi Ships...any of these former Conference 2 teams any good? Is there any real difference in the quality between 1 and 2?

ATT - It's an interesting fixture. Crawley signed well over the summer, and have even had their backers for the play-offs, but they were pretty limp against York on Saturday - physical and long-ball in their approach, and out-thought by their dogged opponents. Lewes have got rid of the majority of their BlueSQ South winning squad but have not signed particularly well, and have been widely tipped to slide back there with the minimum of effort. But they managed a good point at Kidderminster on Saturday, where they worked hard.

Man for man, the Lewes squad is no match for Crawley's, but even though I think we might see a response from Crawley tonight I'm not betting on this match. They have played together for longer than Lewes and the York game was probably a blip. But there are factors that put me off: they are light on numbers, with Isaiah Rankin and Steve Fletcher both injured up front, and they don't really have much available in forward areas. Chris Giles is also missing - the key cog in their rearguard. Plus there is also something of a derby element.

Just a note about Cambridge vs Kidderminster.

We can't beat them for love nor money. The last 12 games have seen 8 wins for the Harriers and 4 draws. They seem to have some voodoo hold over us, they still beat us with ten men and us 1 nil up.

It's becoming beyond a joke for most U's fans.

Torquay look nailed on to beat a Woking side that is full of turmoil on and off the pitch.

We (Conference North) seem to welcome the promoted teams back into our league with alarming regularity... Unless they get saved by other clubs financial mismanagement

Hi all,

Jaded (Wrexham fan) asked me to post this as he's on holiday - hope its in the right place;

York v Wrexham

Two good shouts for first golascorer. Wes Baynes and Tom Kearney.

Both take free kicks and like to have a dog from long range. Baynes played for our reserves against Everton U21's today and got a hat-trick inc. a penalty. Not sure he'll start but worth a shot with money back if he doesn't play.

Both are priced at 16/1 or thereabouts.

Great call by the overs king, Allthethings on the Lewes/Crawley match!

Cheers to Andy for his post on my behalf above - managed to get on briefly to add this.

Bethilo have goal mins for York vs Wrexham, Kearney 4-7 and Baynes 1-3.

We scored 4 in the last half hour against Stevenage and apparently looked a lot fitter than they did - Kearney's spread looks okay but Baynes' looks incredible. I can't find team news so don't know if he'll start, but with money back if he doesn't, this is a highly recommended buy. As well as the hat trick for the reserves yesterday, he scored twice in the last senior game he played - our last league match - and is probably in with a good shout of taking free kicks and penalties.

York v Wrexham
York don't seem to be getting much attention at the moment, but they've been going about their business quite efficiently - a good pre-season, win away at Crawley. Wrexham may have been flattered a bit by their thrashing of Stevenage, and could be brought down to earth tonight. I'm not very confident about it, but I think the home side are worth a small punt tonight.
