Well the biggest game of the weekend in this division has to be the local Lancashire derby between Rochdale and Bury. The intersting fact between these two teams is that over the last 30 fixtures between them it has only produced 3 home wins in that time, and with my bets for this game i will be hoping for more of the same trend. One because i will be supporting Bury and two to hopefully be making a profit come Saturday evening.

Since Bury were relegated into League Two for the 2002/03 season Bury have won four and drew two at Spotland, plus they have also won two cup games there without once being defeated. Last season Bury won there twice, 2-1 in the league and 3-1 in the cup in the space of a week when it was early in the season before Rochdale got into their rhythm that lead to Rochdale getting to the playoffs final. The other game last season in the run in towards the end of the season, when Rochdale were still in contention of automatic promotion, saw Rochdale gain a fortutious draw with a last minute equlaiser from a penalty.

I will be hoping for Bury's attack of Bishop, Hurst and Morrell will cause havoc for the Rochdale defence, especially my mate ex-Bury and Bury born full back Kennedy so here's to hoping he has a stinker.
My bets so far for the game are:

Draw/ Bury - 8/1 at Coral
Bury/ Bury - 13/2 at Coral
Bishop anytime scorer - 12/5 at Bet365
Bury draw no bet - 6/4 at Bet365

Can't believe i am going to have to miss the game as i'll be on my hols with my mates, hence the early post for weekend games, but i will be watching soccer Saturday with interest and a few beers.

think you may be onto something here, Alan Knill has Bury playing well and Bishop is due a goal. Might look at this myself this weekend.

Reasoning Similar to Boyd's thinking on Punters Lounge - Not only have Bury started well with 3 wins from 3 against respectable opposition (Chesterfield, Morecombe and Brentford) but they are a bogey team for Rochdale.

Rochdale have picked up 4 points so far but its a draw against Grimsby (yet to score this season in the league) and a win versus Barnet (yet to record a league point).

Derby games seem to throw up more than their fair share of away wins/draws and here this can be backed up with the h2h stats. Of 25 previous meetings between the two teams at Rochdale, Dale have won just 4 with 9 draws and bury victorious in 12 games. Furthermore, in the last 10 meetings at rochdale, bury have won seven and drawn 3.

The stats certainly point towards some value in the odds against AH here.

Morecambe v Dagenham 6/4 totesport

A bit of a strange bet you might think here, seeing as morecambe only have one point and dagenham are unbeaten on 7 points, but i think there is some value in this bet. Last season this game would have had odds of probably around 8/11 on the home win, and i reckon give it until christmas and that is exactly what will happen again. Look at morecambe's games theyve played for instance, an away draw at wycombe is a decent result, then they got beat at home to 100% rotherham, and were unlucky to lose to 100% bury after taking an early lead. Dagenham on the other hand have played 2 woeful teams in chester and lincoln, both who remain pointless, and drew at home to port vale who arent exactly brazil. John Still has said that Dagenham will just take each game as it comes, so this gives the impression that he is not expecting them to challenge come the end. Morecambe wont be either, but i dont think that overnight morecambe turn into a bad team, nor does an away game there turn into an easy game, therefore i will be having a go on the home win at 6/4. These 2 teams are both even IMO, which means 6/4 on the home win represents decnt value

Was looking at Bradford and Shrewsbury myself today, they both certainly put a good effort by wining 3-in a row, even on the start of the season. But as far as the oposing sides are concidered they should be able to hold on as the game passes, im not expecting anything special to happen, both of the games will probably be tight with low result, and apart from that I'm personally a bit skeptical when a team is on a wining-streak, you know what they say, it has to end sometime .

Apart from those 2 Darlington could be up for their first win against a poor Macclesfield side. They held good against Notts County and Exeter, and unluckly losing against Gillingham at home ground, where as Macclesfield started awfully without scoring any and taking 8 in their own net, altough they had top 2 sides against them in those matches. I don't see that they could put anything in such disasterous form, and i'm sure Darlington will be more then ready to put an effort to win.

Aldershot V Bradford
Aldershot have a decent home record from last season but this is a completely different Bradford City that McCall has built rather than the one he inherited and the Thorne-Boulding partnership is looking dangerous already. To put more pressure on both strikers Barry Conlon hit 5 for the reserves in midweek. I can see this being a close game and the odd goal settling it, Bradford have kept clean sheets in their last 2 games. Thorne is now 5 goals in 3 games and you can't ignore a player in such form. I'm leaving the outright in case it's a draw and going ew on Thorne for 1st goal instead at tasty odds.
Suggested Bet:
5pts EW Thorne 1st Goal 8-1 Bet365 (ew terms unlimited)

Bradford @2.50 coral

Bradford started season in impressive way, great both at the back and up front. They booked two clean sheets in last two games, and they deserve to be favorites against Aldershot in this match.

Sides promoted from Conference usually do well at this level, so did Aldershot so far with 4 points in 3 games, but according to reports they didnt play that well in previous 3 games.

Rotherham @3.30 skybet

Rotherham are on great run at the beginning of this season, and with straight 3 wins in league, they also managed to shock Championship sides Sheff Wed and Wolves in league cup.

Brentford started season well too, but I just feel Rotherham could use their momentum to book 4th win of the season.

Bury @3.60 centrebet

Bury are another side with 100% record so far, so I can't quite understand these odds. They are going to Rochdale with full squad, full confidence and full of good memories:

9th Oct 07 C Rochdale v Bury 1 - 3
6th Oct 07 L Rochdale v Bury 1 - 3
4th Nov 06 L Rochdale v Bury 1 - 3
28th Feb 06 L Rochdale v Bury 1 - 1
28th Aug 04 L Rochdale v Bury 0 - 3
13th Mar 04 L Rochdale v Bury 0 - 0

Odds for Bradford already started dropping, I took them at 1.86 DNB. Nice value for me for this match.

Away side made quite an impression to me as I didn't expect them to be so strong. Aldershot are expected to start with Davies (midfielder) who has recovered from an injury and one new arrival from Watford - Osbourne (defender).Bradford doesn't have any problems with the starting line-up. McLaren (midfielder) who had a injury last match is expected to start, Bradford's main scorer Thorne (5 out of 6 goals for the team, also last year's goalscorer if I am not mistaken) is available too.

Bradford (0) 1.81 5/10 Pinnacle

My other bets for today are:
Morecambe DNB & Darlington (-0.25) medium
Shrewsbury (-0.25) & Rotherham DNB with small stakes

Gl all

thx again, wasn't really expecting anything special maybe 0-1 or 1-2, but they simply put a great effort and absolutely owned Macclesfield by 0-6 Could't really belive it myself, but i guess Darlington was all fired up to get their first win, and by the looks of things at Macclesfield side, they will be for one hell of a bumpy ride this season i'm sure. Cant say same things about 2 other of my opinions, as both Bradford and Shrewsbury ended their hot-streak, altough i didnt really expect Bradford to lose, not with the team they put up to the challenge.
