Leyton Orient - Gillingham

Orient have the worst defence in this division by far, a whopping 22 goals conceded. A complete lack of confidence means that the opposition always look likely to score. On the attack, we're reasonable but lacking a real goalscorer.

Gillingham are not much better, although a recent run of three straight wins has taken them out of the relegation places otherwise they would be in real trouble.

I think Gillingham are slight favourites here but it's local-ish derby and Orient have done well out of these, so I won't bet on the result.

The best bet for me here is over 2.5 which statistically offers great value:

8 out of 11 games for Orient have been over
7 out of 11 games for Gillingham have been over

It is a bit early in the season, but this is a six-pointer. With four relegation Ling will not want to get cut adrift and probably will show an attacking formation. Reading between the lines, this is probably the players last chance to impress, before the loan market is used.

4pts Carlisle -0.75AH vs Blackpool 2.18 Bet1128

Carlisle have started life in League 1 very well, particularly at Brunton Park. They saw off Birghton there on Saturday and I fancy them to see off a Blackpool side that have won only 1 away game this season here. Carlisle have the best home record in the league and have already won 3 home games by 2 goals. I'm confident this will be a 4th.

3pts Leyton Orient 0AH vs Gillingham 1.81 Pointbet

Leyton Orient face a Gillingham side here who got an utter tonking on Saturday. Oldham were every bit as dominant as the 4-1 scoreline suggested. Leyton Orient started off well at home but have sttutered recently and will want to get back on track here. Gillingham aren't the best of travellers having won only 1 of their last 8 away games and I think Orient can get a home win here.

3pts Brentford 0AH vs Millwall 2.21 Pointbet

Brentford go to struggling Millwall who have just parted with Nigel Spackman. Things are not going too well at all at The New Den. They've not even scored a goal in their last 3 home matches. Brentford have just added Clyde Wijnhard to their squad and he is available to play here. The Bees have only lost once on the road this season and this is an opportunity for another 3pts here.

4pts Oldham -0.5AH vs Rotherham 2.10 Bet1128

Oldham are playing good ffotball all of a sudden. Against Gillingham on Saturday they amassed 25 shots on goal. Rotherham have made a good start to the season in the light of their 10pt deduction but a confident Oldham could be too much for them.

Carlisle vs Blackpool
This match has draw written all over it. Carlisle have drawn 4 of their past 6 while Blackpool have drawn 5 of their past 6. Carlisle will have midfielder Paul Murray missing tonight but apart from that they have no other injury concerns while Blackpool will name an unchanged side to the team which drew Doncaster 0-0 on the weekend. Carlisle have a fantastic home record though which cant be ignored, they have taken 13 of a possible 15 points at home while Blackpool have taken only 5 out of 15. Carlisle are also capable of scoring goals too while their defence is strong. But the fact Blackpool have been beaten only once in 7 games (that was to Port Vale who were hot at the time) cant be ignored which is why i think this result will end in a draw so I will take the $3.40 on offer happily

Pick match to end in DRAW at $3.40

--------------------------------------------------------------

Match: Carlisle – Blackpool
Pick: Carlisle -0.75
Odds: 2.16 @ Pinnacle
Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: Both of these sides have proven themselves to be tough to beat, particularly Carlisle who are unbeaten in their last 7 and had won 4 of their 5 home games so far. As much as Blackpool seems to be garnering points, having drawn 6 of their last 7 games, it simply isn’t enough as they languish 3 points away from safety while Carlisle are themselves mounting an early promotion bid with the form they are showing and I fancy them to add yet another home win after showing they can rub shoulders with the likes of the best teams in the league already. It would not be easy but Carlisle should be able to continue their fine form and win 2-0.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Match: Doncaster – Bradford
Pick: Bradford +0.25
Odds: 1.855 @ Pinnacle
Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: Bradford comes into this match seeking a 3rd win on the trot to help their promotion chasing side and would most likely field the 11 whom acquired the 3 points in the weekend. Meanwhile Doncaster’s strike-drought looks to continue after not scoring in their last 3 league games even though they have a great number of strikers at their disposal. Their misfiring has caused their form to drop, winning just 1 in their last 8 league games much in contrast to that of Bradford who has garnered points in 8 of their 10 league games already this season. Doncaster could lose both defenders in Roberts for this match and this is hardly encouraging when you are up against a Bradford side who has found the net pretty regularly this season. For the record, Bradford had not lost this tie in the last 2 season and I definitely fancy Bradford’s chances of grabbing at least a point away from this match again.

I like the look of Carlisle too, although the last time I bet against Blackpool they won their only gams of the season so far, a crushing victory at Ashton Gate, would you believe. It can't be quite right that Carlisle are priced the same as Tranmere tonight, who face far tougher opponents in Huddersfield.

I was tempted to bet against Swansea tonight, with their manager reportedly one game away from the sack, but Crewe are unreliable away from home and key man Trundle may return for the Swans, so on balance I can't quite justify it.

I was thinking of backing Tranmere tonight but I'm a believer in mid-week v weekend performance records and the stats don't look favourably on Tranmere in this respect!

Tranmere do have an excellent record v Huddersfield though and they're in far better form than their visitors!

Tranmere home 4-1-0 F7,A1
Hudderfield away 1-1-3 F6,A9

maybe a few quid?

Forest at Port Vale seem worth a sly punt aswell -IMO!

Forest can defend like demons and with only 1 away goal conceeded in 5 matches [a record only Portsmouth can better!] and Vale in the middle of a real slump, with just one win in 6 league games now, I can't see Forest losing this!

Under 2.5gls looks like a nailed on punt here also!

Forest haven't scored themselves in 3 - which perhaps adds to the unders suggestion!

Northampton have one of those upsidedown records that crop up now and then with their away form much better than their form at home!

I don't think Cheltenham are such a poor home side but they are in the middle of a long winless streak [mostly away -but still!] and I think they'll struggle tonight against Northampton - the home side has the H2H's in this fixture though!

1-1 is the FT score I'm expecting!

Forest have great record over there, and after few points lost in last couple of games, I think they are gonna do the job tonight.

I would give them over 50% to win this match and they are simply value for tonight - max bet for me.

Forest are a good side, and I certainly think they COULD win tonight. But Vale had a good record against the top 6 last season (although they lost to Bristol City at the weekend), and despite Forest beating them 2-0 at Vale Park last season Vale dominated most of the game. Not a nailed on away win for me, tempted for the draw/even a home win.

Very lucky to have no losers in this league tonight but 2 wins and 2 pushes will do for me

3pts Chesterfield -0.25AH vs Scunthorpe 2.16 Pointbet

Chesterfield are doing well at Saltergate this season and face a home match against Scunthorpe here. The hosts are without Paul Shaw which is a blow but Scunthorpe aren't the best side on the road and will be resting one of Andy Keogh or Billy SHarp for the match. Chesterfield have won their last 3 home matches and with that momentum I'm hoping they will pick up a 4th win here.
