Only Skybet's Step 3 book is out and there's nothing on Oddscomparison, so I'm posting in this thread... Ilkeston T are value at 11/10 to beat Lincoln U at home. Ilkeston looked to be heading for a good point at Marine on Saturday until an injury time oggie did for them. Lincoln U have been improving - they've tightened up considerably in recent weeks, and were good enough to sit on an early pen against Witton on Saturday, though it's fair to say that they barely left their half after that. 2pts on the home side who perhaps aren't as dominant as they should be at home, but are value at this price. Heybridge Swifts at 6/4 to beat Leyton? That's a very good price, given that Leyton conceded six at Hemel and three yesterday at home to Horsham. And then there's the mysterious behind-the-scenes goings on, which may or may not be undermining team spirit. Having made a decent chunk off the back of Leyton yesterday, I am content to reinvest some here. Swifts were a loser for me, and deserved nothing from their game at Ashford, despite leading just after half time, but I'd expect an improved performance on Tuesday, and 6/4 looks a bit of value. (1-10 scale)

Leyton latest... the suggestion is that Saturday was the last day when contracted players would be paid. I haven't seen the Leyton team from Saturday, although leading scorer Leli Bajada was playing (he scored). Other names that crop up in the NLP report are Rio Alderton, Mark Sophocleous (skipper and chairman/manager's kid - he won't walk!), Loui Fazackerley, Scott Honeyball, keeper James Hasell and Vas Soteriou. That's a strongish side, and there hasn't been a mass walk-out yet, but perhaps we can imply that Steve West wasn't playing. Dean Palmer, who has been having a good season, was spotted in the stand at Chelmsford. Now, there is some discussion that Leyton will resign from the league tomorrow. I'd be pretty surprised if that happened - it isn't difficult to fulfil fixtures if you want to, even if you blood some kids. But it's certainly worth monitoring events tomorrow; in the meantime 6/4 with Skybet about Tuesday's visitors Heybridge is looking just as big as it did this morning.

Can't resist a small wager on Tonbridge at Chelmsford. City recorded only their 1st home win of the season on saturday, all be it an impressive 4-0 demolision of Ramsgate, with youngster Ricky Holmes & debutant Fiston Manuella starring. But,Tonbridge have been a revelation this season & in Jon Main they have a striker as good as any in the division IMO. They've taken the step-up in their stride, & have plenty of attacking options (Ray Powell can't get a game at the moment) and are always likely to score. Although City have spent big they've been a disappointment to say the least , so i'll have a small wager on 3rd placed Tonbridge @ 3.5

Not a great deal to excite in the cup for me, although if Banbury - unbeatean away - play Jermaine McSporran at Tonbridge they have to be shorter than 9/4, even without the injured Andy Baird. They wouldn't, of course, be unhappy with a draw. Think I'll have a point on the win.

| Horsham are available at 11/10 with skybet for their trip to Walton & Hersham tomorrow night. Horsham are still unbeaten,I've tipped them with success a couple of times this season when they seemed overpriced & the bookies still seem to be underestimating them. How impressive the win at Leyton was on Saturday is still to be determined, but they have 6 wins under their belts already & W & H have been awful of late, being easily beaten to nil by bottom half teams in their last 2 games. Indeed w&H have only scored 3 goals this season & amassed 2 points. Yeah, I think odds against about Horsham is value. I'm also taking Bromley @ 13/8 to win at Margate. Margate have been finding goals hard to come by of late, indeed by all accounts, the chances fell to Wimbledon in the 0-0 at Hartsdown Park on Saturday. Prior to that a 0-0 preceeded a scraped 1-0 replay win against Fleet Town in the FA cup, & a 2-0 defeat to Ramsgate in the League Cup. Although Margate have lost only once in the league(6-1 to Boreham Wood!), the only top half team they have beaten is Chelmsford . They could hardly of had an easier start to the season, having played 5 of the bottom 7. Unbeaten Bromley are flying at the top of the table, having already amassed a goal difference of +15, with Mcdonnell & Boot scoring for fun, they have been further strengthened by the arrival of Lloyd Blackman. They are capable of the odd off night as proved by a 0-0 at Folkstone invicta, but given the current form of the 2 clubs, 13/8? I'll have a slice of that! | Agree about W&H. They have a lot of players nowhere near full fitness right now and weren't at the races Saturday against Staines. They were flattered too by the 3-0 cup win over Dulwich Hamlet. It's difficult to know how they'll approach tomorrow with the winnable cup tie against Ashford coming up and Lloyd Wye keen to make an impression. A draw will look like some kind of victory in the circumstances, and I suspect it'll be one up front and five across the middle. I think the biggest danger is if Horsham are complacent, although reports suggest they soon snuffed any hint of a Leyton comeback on Saturday. They are a good shout tomorrow, although it's not one for me. Not added to the punt on Heybridge as yet. Info on Leyton is at a premium - I still haven't seen the line-ups for Saturday. It does look like something is developing, but not perhaps the mass exodus cheerfully predicted by some rivals of Leyton. Until the situation becomes clearer I'm content to bask in the glory of Saturday's winnings and just reinvest a small amount on a repeat performance. It's a strange situation - and as with Saturday I'll either be kicking myself for losing two points or kicking myself for not committing more of the pot to this one! |

Looks like the Leyton game has dropped off most of the lists tonight, although Paddy Power was still offering 8/11 Heybridge a while back. Got word last night that Steve West - Leyton's much travelled but still useful striker - was looking at a deal with Thurrock. Then I saw the story in today's Thurrock Gazette, saying he'd 'signed' for East Thurrock a couple of days ago (ETU had shed a player to make room for him), then talked to Thurrock, and now has signed for Eastleigh. I think Dean Palmer is unlikely to be playing either. Anyone else? Who knows... A shame that I can't get to the match tonight, although I understand it is going ahead as normal. The bookies must be reacting to the weight of money on Heybridge, inspired by internet chatterers and rumour-mongers like, erm, me...

It was a miracle that we were still getting 6/4 about Heybridge as recently as last night, you 1st broke the rumours about Leyton last friday! they've even played (& lost) a match since & the bookies have only just caught on! A great reminder as to why we bet on non-league football! & a fantastic advert for PL ! Thanks for sharing!! Leyton will probably bloody win now!

Looks like Heybridge won and Ilkeston lost... still, a point profit for me. Be a very interesting Leyton team sheet, although I'm guessing it's Manny Williams who scored, so they still have some quality in the ranks. Just back from Walton & H. They were much the more committed side tonight; Horsham weren't up for it and lost their composure very quickly as decisions went against them - they had two booked for backchat in the first half. W&H went 4-4-2, which suits them better and was like-for-like with Horsham, although it was another reshaped rearguard with key players missing. Neither side sent players forward in numbers in the first half, and you'd never have guessed the game had six goals in it. Weird seeing Horsham taking a corner with half the side nowhere near the opponent's penalty area. It's siginificant that W&H went ahead when midfielder Wes Goggin chased into to the penalty area to meet a Traynor cross. The ultimate wind-up for an already frustrated Horsham was to concede a Traynor pen and then another from an Eben Allen freekick within a couple of minutes of half time. They didn't have enough leaders on the pitch to get back into it, and going three at the back encouraged W&H to counter-attack. Traynor's second was a neat finish from a breakaway. John Wescott struck a consolation and there was still time for another pen for Michael Murphy. Carl Rook was very disappointing for Horsham and I expected better set-piece delivery from Lee Carney.

Couldn't believe that W&H result Ships, think I'll pack it all in now,I could have lived with them maybe scraping a one goal victory, but there is no way to rationalise that sort of scoreline! Invicta are on fire now too. Maybe it's still too nearly in the season to sort out the pretenders from the contenders!

Very strange result, but you pay the price at any level if you can't battle. It's a good lesson for Horsham, who perhaps need to be tougher. A different ref might have punished the home side's bullish approach but whatever you say about W&H this season, they have guts aplenty. No point in packing it in, just yet. Crap runs are part-n-parcel of punting. Anyway, early season is always the hardest time. I always do at least double the profit after Christmas - before that, things are taking shape. Clubs are still fighting hard and each match is like a cup tie - Leyton are three points of the play offs! There'll be lots of opportunities when teams go out the cups and squads are reduced. Elsewhere, in the Unibond, I see Burscough have signed Ciaran Kilheeney from Ashton U. He's a good signing and they are surely due some good results soon.
