Northampton are really strange side - no home win and no road defeat in 12 rounds

They were usually convincing against bottom table opposition, Bornemouth usually struggle against strugglers on the other hand.

THere is huge value in away win, or x2 in this match, but looks too strange

Swansea probably for me - again. Tranmere in obvious downtrend, and they never were force away from home if I'm not wrong.

2.25-2.30 looks like nice price to me.

Yeovil look a solid effort for a home win. Going great guns lately, up at the business end of the table.
Cheltenham have struggled of late with life at the higher level and especially away from the Cotswolds.

Too early in the week to do any meaningfull previews, but at this stage i like the look of Swansea & Bradford, while Northampton also look like good odds as they are playing very well away as Djordie suggested earlier. Will look more into the games on Friday

With the news that Carlisle's Karl Hawley main strike threat is out injured with a broken rib our strike force of Derek Holmes (0 goals in the League this season) and Glen Murray who has been recalled from a loan to Stockport (i.e behind Derek in the pecking order ) won't be scaring many. Since Bridges left to go to Hull Hawley has led the line with limited support from the likes of Chris Lumsdon in midfield, but this really is a major loss for us. I did very well from Blackpool last week and I will reploughing all on Under 2.5 goals on Saturday with our decent defensive record.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Match: Yeovil – Cheltenham
Pick: Yeovil –0.75
Odds: 1.962 @ Pinnacle
Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: Yeovil came away with a somewhat fortuitous win when Cohen snatched an 88th minute winner. He is very much a Yeovil favourite already and another goal here does his reputation no harm. They stretch their amazing run to being undefeated in their last 5 and winning the last 4. They have once again proved their traditional resilience at home this season having suffered just 1 defeat by the then high-flying Nottingham Forest. After which however, they have proven that they are a tough side to break down. With a 4-1-1 record at home this season and having only conceded just 2 goals; they would now entertain a dismal Cheltenham side who has seen nothing go their way so far. Slumping to a 5th consecutive league defeat hardly does the morale any good and also their defense seems pretty unsure of themselves now. Performances have been mediocre at best and when pitched against a very much rampant Yeovil side who has the leaders in its sights, I would just have to fancy the form and efficient performance to see them through this match. It would not be the first time they put in a good efficient performance to snatch all three points. Yeovil to win 2-0.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Match: Doncaster – Oldham
Pick: Oldham +0.25
Odds: 1.917 @ Pinnacle
Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: Doncaster have now gone winless in their past 6 league games and look pathetic going forward. Lack of creativity and scoring prowess have been the cause of all their troubles and from the showing of the previous match, it is hardly the best of times to be a Doncaster fan. Especially as they entertain a rejuvenated Oldham side which has themselves put together a nice run of being undefeated in their last 6 matches. Significant results came against the likes of Bristol City and Nottingham Forest. In their last match, Oldham gave a very good account of themselves and showed no signs of letting up. They would no doubt be entering this match looking to win and continue climbing up the table with their fine form against a wretched Doncaster side. Oldham should win this comfortably if they are to repeat their level of recent performances here and I fancy them to do so. Oldham to win 3-0.

Just thought I would share a few thoughts on my team Nottingham Forest again this week. A victory last week over Swansea 3-1 got us back on track but this weekend we play in form scunthorpe who have been flying lately under Brian Laws. Last time out we were beaten 1-0 last season by Scunthorpe and feel this weekends game could be very difficult. There was alot of build up on this board last weekend to the forest game and alot of forest backers me included. I must admit Forest were very lucky to win last saturday Swansea should have been 2 or 3 goals up and out of sight by half time. This Saturday is international weekend and Forest will be missing 2 players from last Saturday's win with Sammy Clingan playing for Northen Ireland and Junior Agogo last weekends goals scorer playing for Togo I think. Really think we will struggle only bright spark in our teams is the introduction of Kris Commons after injury. If you ask any Forest fan on current form if we should be top. If they said yes would be lying to you. Still to see the best of us and that's won't happen untill Nathan Tyson is back in a months time. I just think league 1 is full of poor teams and we have ridden our luck this season. Going back to Saturday's game I think Scunthorpe are massive value at 4/1 or 5/1 against an under strength Forest team. I hope we win but would stay clear of backing forest this weekend. prices far too short. I think Scunthorpe have a good chance of winning the game if we start like we did against Swansea. I personally think the game will be a 1-1 daw but prices on Scunthorpe are very good and adding the extra spice with Brian Laws the Scunthorpe manager being an ex forest player he will want to get one over his old club like last season.

Northampton have to be a bet, although they will probably ruin their impressive road record sooner or later. But anyhow, they are the best travellers in league so far, and 3.40 for them tomorrow is really great price in my opinion.

They have bad record at Bornemouth though, but those h2h stats are out fo date, so I wouldnt pay much attention to that.

Swansea without Lawrence who is on international duty, but they have Lee Trundle available again, although they are set to start with Knight/Fallon in attack again.

Tranmere on the other hand might have several players back after injuries - striker Zola at first place, and midfielders Harrison, Jennings and McLaren; Gareth Taylor is still out.

Still I like Swansea here. They have great fire power in Knigh, Fallon and Trundle (13 goals so far between them), and after unlucky defeat at Forest last weeken I think they should have enough to beat Tranmere - Rovers never were force away from home, and I dont think they'll get anything in this match.

Bournemouth vs Northampton
Hard to pick, Bournemouth without a win in last 5 games whereas Northampton have won 2 of their past 3 albeit against weaker oposition. The strange thing about Northampton is that they have poor home form but are great away with arecord of 4-2-0, they are actually the highest ranked away team in League 1 but i think their great run could end tonight. They are missing a number of players due to suspension and what not. Goalkeeper Mark Bunn & defender Sean Dyche will be out injured while Striker James Quinn is on international duty. Northampton also have about 5 others out on long term injuries which will not help their cause. On the other hand Bournemouth are only missing Eddie Howe & Curtis Allen, but Shaun Maher & Steve Cooke are worthy replacements. Ill be tipping Bournemouth to win this one and $2.30 is excellent value considering the amount of players Northampton have out.

Pick Bournemouth to WIN at $2.30

for me Yeovil - Cheltenham 1 @ 1.7 ( Yeovil -1.5 @ 2.8 ) in my local bookie great value .

Yeovil Town are waiting on the fitness of forward Lee Morris (hamstring).

If fit his availability will prove crucial as Yeovil will be without winger Arron Davies, who is on international duty with Wales.
Injury-ravaged Cheltenham are without leading goalscorer Grant McCann, who is away with Northern Ireland. Goalkeeper Shane Higgs (shoulder), Damian Spencer (knee), Ashley Vincent (knee), striker Steven Gillespie (leg) and Shane Duff (Achilles) are all out.

Surely Carlisle at home to Milwall at 4/5 is a good price. Allthough Milwall won on the weekend I think that Carlisle should be able to edge it here...

Sport Football (Eng - League 1)
Event Yeovil v Cheltenham
Selection Yeovil
Strength 10/10
Date 06/10/2006
Bookmaker/Price Gamebookers @ 1.70 (Back)
Reasoning Value bet this is. (Yoda)

Great bet today, Yeovil confortable at 2nd while Cheltenham just above the relegation line at 20th.

Yeovil are good at home only lost 1 game against leaders Nottingham, they have 4 wins and 1 draw besides that.
Cheltenham on the other hand are crap on the road with 5 losses and 1 win (back on 5 aug over Swansea)
Overall Yeovil are on a 4 game winning streak and on a 2 game home winning streak and are undefeated in their last 5 games while Cheltenham are on a 5 game losing streak.
Also there a a few players missing at Cheltenham : Steven Gillespie, Ashley Vincent , John Finnigan, Grant McCann, Shane Duff, the loss of Grant McCann is a big one.

Yeovil should take this game easy. GL

EDIT : this info is from www.sportinglife.co.uk

Quote:
Northampton could be without goalkeeper Mark Bunn and defender Sean Dyche when they take their unbeaten away record to Bournemouth
Bunn has not trained all week with a side strain, so veteran Lee Harper is on standby, while Dyche has a hamstring injury and is also a major doubt.
Striker James Quinn is on international duty with Northern Ireland to add to manager John Gorman's selection problems.
Winger Jerome Watt is expected to shake off a knock sustained in training and Joe Burnell (hamstring), Andy Holt (knee) and Brett Johnson (back) have resumed training, although Friday's trip comes too soon.
Sam Aiston (ankle) and Fred Murray (Achilles) remain long-term absentees.

I wouldnt say this is 'a lot of players'. Striker Quinn is still without goal this season, so not big deal; first choice keeper missing is always a blow, while Aiston and Murray are long term absentees.

Still away win for me.
