After watching Orient v Bristol Rovers the Walsall price at the weekend seems huge. Rovers defense was shambolic and their attack was not at the game. At 2.75 this looks to me a massive price

Millwall have coped well with their crippling injuries. The blow of losing Harris and Alexander has been softened due to the emergence of Steve Morison. He started slowly after his move from Stevenage but looks the part now and has scored 9 from his last 13. It's not just his goals though, his contribution has been faultless and looks the best forward prospect I've seen at the Den since a pre-cancer Harris and the ill-fated Richard Sadlier - we're talking eight years or so. He has linked up well with loan-signing Shaun Batt, who is lightning quick if a little raw.

The side in general have been performing well and I was surprised to see another Millwall supporter on here saying different on here the other day.

Just one defeat in their last 11 games...

Brighton 0-1 Millwall
Millwall 2-0 Southend - a stroll
Oldham 0-1 Millwall
Millwall 1-1 Southampton - by far the better side and it was totally unjust when Rickie Lambert's deflected 92nd minute free-kick found the net.
Derby 1-1 Millwall
Millwall 1-1 Derby
Millwall 2-0 Bristol Rovers
Norwich 2-0 Millwall
Charlton 4-4 Millwall - 10 men versus 14 thanks to the officials, 2-0 up and coasting until two pens and a red card changed things. The 10-men dominated the 2nd half and more than deserved the draw. Just one shot on goal from Charlton in open play.
Millwall 2-1 Walsall
Millwall 4-0 Staines

The one defeat was away to Norwich where we were folded after going one down. That aside it's been a decent run of form and it's been more a case of playing better than some of those results suggested, plenty of those draws could've/should've been wins.

Just prior to that there was a shocking results at home to Wycombe, and that is typical of Millwall, the two types of games we struggle in is away to the decent sides and home to the poor sides - those games aside we perform.

I fancy Norwich for the league and they are of course on a bit of a run themselves. Eight straight wins I think and unbeaten in the league for something like 16 games?

Should be a decent crowd and atmosphere on Saturday and it's just the sort of game that brings the best out of this Millwall side.

Will come back later in the week in case of any late team news, although I imagine I'll be laying Norwich at around 2.5

Charlton have over performed massively so far this season and I fully expect them to drop away. Will come back with that game too, will be with Swindon though, probably lay Charlton at around 2.8.

Swindon v Charlton

Only 5 times out of 26 matches have Swindon failed to be on the scoresheet. They have been involved in 9 matches against the current top ten sides and just 3 times have they failed to score, against Norwich, MK and Bristol Rovers and only twice have they kept a clean sheet against Leeds and MK.

Swindon last 12 - Failed to score in 1 and kept 3 clean sheets.

Only 4 times out of 29 matches have Charlton failed to be on the scoresheet. They have been involved in 10 matches against the current top ten sides and only twice have they failed to score, against Leeds and Colchester and only twice have they kept a clean sheet against Leeds and Brentford.

Charlton last 12
- Failed to score in 1 and kept 2 clean sheets.

The reverse fixture played on Boxing Day ended 2-2. All this means nothing of course

Both Teams To Score @ 8/11 Hills

I'm just adding to billy the punter's thoughts on the Millwall v Norwich game which was an excellent analysis on why laying Norwich might be a good idea. I for one was surprised to see Millwall at a best priced 2/1 given their very good home form which as Billy pointed out is excellent against decent opposition. Just for the record they have played 5 of the top 9 sides at home this season and beaten every one of them, which includes Leeds and Colchester.

We all know Norwich have been going great guns, they're not top of the league for nothing. However they have only played away 3 times to sides currently in the top ten, winning 1 and losing the other 2 admittedly it was much nearer the start of the season. Their last 2 matches have ended in 2-1 wins against fairly mediocre opposition. Are they bang in form? From those results there's a chance they're not or they are feeling the absence of their influential skipper and top goal scorer Grant Holt. Isn't this the last game of his 3 match ban?

I agree with billy's lay of Norwich and I wouldn't put anybody off backing Millwall at 2/1.

Swindon looks a good call as well.

Would Hartlepool be a good call at those odds at home to Leeds, after the Lord Mayor's show of Spurs it might be difficult to get their game up for a lesser side. The other point is that its as close to a local derby as Hartlepool can get ( Leeds do have Huddersfield), playing their cup final, big crowd (for them) & players raising their game against a big club......Just a thought........for now....

Hartlepool aren't in great form though. I couldn't back them to beat Leeds. If they were playing Yeovil or Exeter, or Gillingham, then I'd probably be all over the hosts.

I thought the Lord Mayor's show thing would only really apply if Leeds had won. For example, losing at home to Liverpool in the cup saw them go on a really good run.

For what it's worth, the price is probably bang on given their away record; only 11 goals in 13 games conceded but 7 of these were in their 3 defeats.

I had Pool last week but they are a poor side at present and having played more games than everyone else, could get sucked into it.

I disagree with this 'cup final' nonsense. For Hartlepool, games against the teams at the bottom, the six-pointers, are the real cup finals. Of course, it's an easy excuse for Leeds to brush aside a bad performance, that 'the opponents raised their game' but in truth you cannot play well all the time.

Swindon v Charlton

I like the look of Swindon here.Charlton haven't win in there last 3 games and they really seem to have went off the boil recently.Swindon on the other hand are one of the form sides in the league and are unbeaten in there last 8 league games including a very impressive 3 nil win over Leeds. If it wasn't for 2 late goals last week it would have been 5 wins on the bounce.

I think there is value in the 13/10 especially at home

I'm going to take Brentford to beat Gills. We all know Gillingham are poor away from home but recently even their home form is letting them down. It was only just over a month ago that Brentford won the reverse fixture 1-0 and I fancy them to win by a similar scoreline on Saturday.

Brentford have had some decent results against difficult opposition recently, after drawing against Charlton, Southampton and only just losing away to Norwich and a close 1-0 defeat to Doncaster in the cup. Some decent loan signings aswell as a good team work ethic has seen them climb the table up into 10th.

Gillingham have only scored 4 goals in their last 7 games, and thats not the sort of record you want going into a game against a team with a defence as tight as Brentfords has been. They've only managed 3 points away from home all season which is a shocking record.

I think evens looks quite generous on Brentford and will probably be one of my bets of the weekend.

Well you never know, Leeds could be a bit flat after their midweek excursions. Leeds had 3 poor results prior to the win against Colchester which included a 2-0 away loss to Exeter and you would have to think Hartlepool are in the same bracket as Exeter.

Hartlepool are 80 miles from Leeds and seriously have no chance.
Hudds again at 8/13 look good.

totally agree, my best pick of the weekend when having a 1st deck at the fixtures, Gillingham conceded the most away goals in the division at Brentford who have only lost 2 in 14 at home, the 7 draws Brentford have had at home would normally have me thinking but Gillingham at 0 3 11 away leaves me without doubt in my selection.

Also like Orient here, without team news and oblivious to what happened in the transfer window I liked the look of Orient in the recent monday night match at Charlton, I thought their football was outstanding at times, Brighton by all accounts look a better team away than home but judging the football I seen from Orient recently Im happy to go for the home win at 6/4.

Huddersfield at home 1,60 not a great odd but good for combos or accus in my opinion. They are great at home and they run for the play-off spots.Carlisle on the other side aren't in great shape and i think they can fall again here....

Liking Huddersfield. Just working on the best way to play them. Possibly h'cp?
Even without hudds crackin' home record where goals are generally bountiful, i feel carlisle will have other things on their mind.
Carlisle have a MASSIVE televised game on tuesday against Leeds. A sellout virtually assured, and the town is buzzing at a possible Wembley appearance. The stats show down the years ( FAC, league cup ) that on these occasions, the team in these situations fall short. Mental, pychological, who knows.

I had Colchester to beat Carlisle midweek at superb odds. However, I think it was also demonstrated that Carlisle usually do well against top six sides. I wouldn't touch Huddersfield to beat a handicap because of that reason.

Handicap might be pushing it. They lost 1-3 prior to the Elland Rd game though.

All about huddersfield on the day for me. When on fire, that opposition goal line takes some serious hammer.

I didn't know about that (or better said i didn't checked out about cup games),but your info make me even more confident about a Hudd home win, because probably they,Carlisle, will rest some players and having this game in mind,a difficult one but they won the first one 1-2 away so the dream can be true.I don't know about the h'cp,probably some line-up info before the game is necessary, but i'll go for the home win in a combo....

I like the looks of Leeds away at the up and down team of the league Hartlepool.

Leeds, now that their knocked out the cup, know that they can soley concentrate on the league and they know 3 points is achieveable tomorrow.

Leeds welcome back Paddy Kisnorbo and Neil Kilkenny from Injury, two big players. Also Gary McSheffrey and Max Gradel will be back after missing out midweek as they were cup tied.

Hartlepool are still missing James Brown, their most influential player in my opinion, however other that that they have no fresh injury worries.

I feel that if Leeds havent had been knocked out the cup, i wouldn't of been so confident on a Leeds win.

Tip

Leeds away win @ 8/11 (Skybet).

All the best for the weekend
