*sigh* calm down.

I say "freak" because every one of the other seven fixtures during that period were close contests. As the stats I provided show.

Looking in at Reading from the outside it appears they are gaining a bit more stability especially now McDermott has been given the manager's job on a permanent basis. I didn't bet on them at the weekend but I was guilty of underestimating them as I didn't expect them to win at Doncaster who have a fairly good home record. That's the first time they've been able to string back to back wins this season as well. Beating Liverpool was no mean feat either regardless of Liverpool's form at the time. I know back to back wins aren't enough to justify total confidence but I feel they should be able to continue the run over Plymouth who have a very poor away record.

A game that interests me is Boro' v Barnsley. Given Boro's pretty poor home form and Barnsley's not too shabby away form there might be some value in Barnsley Double Chance at Evens with Stan James.

"This is still a local derby an didnt Wednesday beat Blackpool at Bloomfield park that might insight revenge. Blackpool were also unlucky against West Brom.

I dont think Wednesday are a sure bet, the only positive i will say is they have been more convincing when playing at home"

Dear me you need to get out of London a bit more son

I agree that there is VALUE in Wednesday but find it hard to oppose a team with 2 away defeats in last 8 away games

I'd be careful betting on boro games at the moment. By all accounts the defence looked impressive under the leadership of McManus at Ipswich and I think that Strachan will make them a hard team to beat. Also Scott McDonald might be making his debut

how come no one has mentioned WBA? They're flying high at the moment and welcome Scunnies who are poor travelers. WBA will be in a dog fight the rest of the campaign for that 2nd automatic promotion spot and one thing they have done well for the most part this season is take care of business vs teams toward the bottom of the table and I expect more of the same. -1, 1.7

Because they're an obvious pick.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has axed a trio of players from his squad to face after they were spotted enjoying a night out at the weekend.
Barry Bannan, Neal Eardley and Ishmel Demontagnac all featured against Leicester, and will not feature tonight. Add that to the fact Blackpool will miss their top scorer tonight.

Revenge? If anything, it'll give Wednesday that added bit of confidence. Or, at least it should.

As has been mentioned. Charlie Adams is out, and he kinda makes Blackpool tick, so that is a real weakness for them.
Charlie Adam is a big loss for Blackpool, im not sayin Blackpool will win i just gonna avoid this match all together

Bristol City are on pretty miserable run lately, and although Watford are not much better, I fancy a home win in this match @2.20 at ladbrokes

I don't have any specific reason, apart from decent price on home side in an even match, and pretty poor road record of Bristol City.

Bristol City will also miss their leading scorer Maynard and winger Campbell-Ryce.

Cardiff v Peterboro
I think cardiff is a banker today after the thrashing they had at newcastle on friday night combined with the humiliation of leading 4-0 only to draw 4-4 in the reverse of this fixture, they will be determined to set the record straight and get back to winning ways, will be looking at them to beat the -1 handicap

Cardiff -1 2.00
(price from bet365 normally would get from betfair but site is down)

Default Sheffield Wed-Blackpool

Pick: 1
Odd: 2.30 @B365
Stake: 7/10

Well, this is a local derby between two teams that are in different positions.Owls are entering this game after being beaten unlucky by Nottingham Forrest in match where they deserved a draw. But, this game show that Sheffield W. has made some significant improvements in their play, and this defeat is not something to be bothered by, because Nottingham is obviously far better team at this moment.Considering that, except this defeat, they have lost only one more (against Scunnies away) in last 6 games, it leads to conclusion that they are respectable opponent, especially on their own ground. In these 6 matches they even managed to win away against today opponent Blackpool and against Barnsley which both are fighting for play-off spot.Sheffield also managed to win against their two rivals in fight for staying in league Peterborough and Plymouth both at home.Especially win against Blackpool three weeks ago will give them more confidence and should boost team to make another victory in front of their own fan. This is first match of a three in a row that Owls will play at home and they hope that when this streak come to an end, their position on table and their survival in Championship will not be questionable anymore and, considering that two next matches at home they are playing against their direct rivals Doncaster and Ipswich, I think too that they have big chances to make it.
As for team selection, Owls boss Alan Irvine will be able to select from the same side that narrowly lost out against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.Absentees are the same as they were before game against Forrest (Francis Jeffers, who is recovering from a hamstring injury along with Tommy Miller, Lewis Buxton and Jermaine Johnson).Irvine said that he can't promise anything, cause it's derby, but that Owls will do everything to win again against Blackpool, and to open streak of a three match at home on best possible way.

From other side, we have Blackpool who are managed to make only one win in last 6 matches and that was three rounds ago against Watford at home, so they have 1-2-3 in last 6 matches. They lost last two match at home from Leicester and WBA respectively, and could make only a draw at home against QPR and away against Coventry.Well, can't forget that, even if we agree that WBA is stronger team than Blackpool and that loosing against them is not surprise, we can't say the same for Leicester which are Seasiders direct rival in fight for play-off spot. And last but not least, don't forget that even against Watford they were loosing 1-2 until 89' minute when they scored two lucky goals (Keith and Brett) for win.Considering all of this, I can only make conclusion that Blackpool are out in form at the moment, and that this derby isn't came in right time for them. After this derby clash, Seasiders have two matches to play at home against Middlesbrough and Reading, and I think that they will focus on those matches. They have 2 points gap to play-off spot and, even if they loose today, they will have chance to make 6 points from next two matches, which will bring them step forward to their target.
Now about team, Ian Holloway, Blackpool manager is calling for tighten up defensively, cause his team have much absentees. The Seasiders will be without the likes of Charlie Adam and Brett Ormerod (both suspended) for the trip to Hillsborough, as well as the disciplined trio of Neal Eardley, Barry Bannan and Ishmel Demontagnac. Billy Clarke (knee), Hameur Bouazza (groin) and Danny Coid (hamstring) remain on the sidelines.

Well, knowing all of this I only can see a tight match with little goals and expect a narrow win for Owls.

GL all.

Sheffield Wednesday - Blackpool

No need for anaylsis due to the excellent one already given by srki.

Wednesday @ 13/10

West Brom - Scunthorpe

West Brom have been playing well at home in the last few games and I'd expect that to continue tonight against a Scunthorpe team who'll be missing Marcus Williams and Garry Thompson. West Brom have their own injury problems but the arrival of Nouble from West Ham and the return of Olsson, Jara and Koren can only be good news for the hosts tonight.

West Brom -1 @ 11/10
Over 2.5 goals @ 8/13
If Nouble starts I'll be backing him to score anytime also.

Cardiff and Watford also look quite good value for reasons already mentioned.

Sheff Wed v Blackpool

Just want to reiterate again, this match is not a derby as stated previously. Blackpool is in the County of Lancashire and Sheffield is in the County of Yorkshire. Of course there will be some rivalry between the 2 clubs as there usually is when Lancashire and Yorkshire meet but it is not like the intensity of a Man U v Leeds match. By saying it's a derby you're distorting the whole picture for those not in the know.
