SportFootball (Eng - Champ)
SelectionAway Win
Date2006-02-15
EventSouthampton X Preston
Bookmaker/PriceGamebookers @ 2.35 (Back)
ReasoningIf there is such a thing as a banker´s bet this is it (although after last night´s results I strongly doubt there is such a thing).

Preston enjoy a very solid defence that conceded only once in their last 6 games, and twice in the last 9. They have only lost twice on the road for the whole season.
Preston also are unbeaten in 21 games, while Southampton are winningless in 6.

Preston have an urge to win this one to keep the hopes alive and strong for promotion, while Southampton can only hope for a point to stay out of relegation zone.

As such, I predict a comfortable away win, but if not, then -at least- a goalless draw. IMHO Southampton can´t score without conceding. Preston have the quality to create chances again and again, and I think it´s fair to assume they´ll win by 2.

Bet on the away win, and cover it up with enough on the draw

I'm going to lay Southampton @ 3.15 Betfair.
I too think Preston will carry on their impressive run but by laying i'm having the draw on my side.
Southampton just cant score enough goals to put sides under pressure and Preston are flying at the moment.

I'm with Billy here. I also like Coventry tonight.

10pts Lay Southampton 3.10 Betfair

As a Luton fan I found out exactly what kind of form Preston are in right now! They are buzzing right now, tight at the back and fluent up front with the trickyness of Nugent and Ormerod. Southampton look like they might start to improve sooner rather than later but even with a bit of improvement they are light years away from Preston currently and I can't see them winning this.

10pts Coventry to beat Sheff Wed 4/5 Betfred

Coventry entertain Sheff Wed who are lacking a bit of cutting edge up front at the minute and without Deon Burton tonight that could be even worse than usual. Coventry's home record is good as is their recent form and having been tonked at Watford at the weekend they'll want to bounce back here and I think they will.

btw, I have 15,000$ on Coventry/Sheff Wed HT/FT just to keep me interested

I'll assume that was meant for me !! well see in the big real world ?? I live by pounds and pence and so reckon posters will know in REAL terms how much i may stake or may not stake, anyone watching each others posts will know the limits they will go and basically see when they really fancy a particular team - its pretty basic.
thats why pounds are more usefull.

Well, I'm happy enough with a point for Saint's (much improved first half performance, though we were hanging on at the end) and my Blackburn/Cov double cam in

Nastro. The post is for anyone who reads it, recently more and more people have been doing it so i was posting my opinion as it really winds me up. Its been talked about on here before and im pretty sure that most otheres on here would agree with me. You may be talking in REAL TERMS on how much you stake but there are many punters in here all with different strength tips and different amounts to bet. If everyone posts there tips with money values it is gonna be difficult to keep up with everyone. I have taken many tips off this site but would not have a clue what your limits are. Also you get people who lie just to try and impress others, thing is it dont impress anyone. So surely u can see how this is a more complicated method. Therefore if you have points system 1 to 10 then you know where u stand - its pretty basic

Ive also took tips of this board and havent a fkn clue what they think due to betting in points - which mean absolutely nothing to me, granted if you frequently use this particular method it would be more beneficial, this is no " pro-posting-in-pounds " thingy, on the odd occasion ive posted what I actually have bet in terms of out the bank and into the bookmakers, believe me sir/miss impressing someone talking in terms of pounds staked is shallow, some posters on here obviously feel it easier to let fellow-posters know what they have riding on a bet in terms of what they have staked and what they hopefully get as a return - these pounds get beer mate - not points. its pretty ordinary

Well as you said yourself, if you frequently use this particular method (points) it would be more beneficial. IMO its a waste of time posting money as it means nothin to nobody. You putting on £130 on a treble for some people would be most of there weeks wages. Some can afford to lose this, some cant. The bottom line is, you could be a 15 yr old kid (im sure ur not but u never know) or a multi millionaire putting bets up for all anyone knows, thats why putting up your stake in pounds is pointless! its pretty simple Thats why points are more usuful

for the record - I never put 130 on any treb, I stupidly put a lot of money on man city last sunday, when out with mates celebrating the old-firm game in the pub ( my mate does throw money about like confetti, and talked me into it ) thankfully they won as it isnt a bet I would normally put on - my mate was picking up the winnings on monday and i fancied a double on wed night to put 50 quid on it, took some good advice on here on ipswich on the tue and thus it became 130 - you can plough through all my 200-odd postings on here and if you count a double-figure amount of times ive quoted in money-terms youll be doing well, someone will post if they really think a particular team is a good chance in their opinion - what they decide to stake on that is incidental - hence I dont really think its this side of it that you find so offending.

you could also be a 15yr old - im sure your not but you never know.

Excatly so why put it? At least with points this gives a rough guide to the strength of the tip. Putting money means nothin to anyone but the person who posted.

By the way im actually 5
