Luton v Reading
Reading at 1.43 @ Centrebet (Draw No Bet) looks safe. Could be plenty of goals tonight and cant really see Reading going away with nothing, will take the draw out of the equation for the reduced odds.

10pts

ReasoningWhat can I say that have not said before about this Reading side? The unbeaten record keeps getting longer and longer, and I have doubts they'd lose a game till the end of this season. I guess they can't help it anymore!

Luton are 8-5-4 at home, but in their last couple they lost to Hull and drew to Cardiff, and sandwiched it by an way loss at Preston, so it doesn't look good at all playing against the team of the season with an amazing 33 unbeaten games record.

Sure there has to come a day when Reading are not on their best day, but I don't think Luton's the one to end this record.

Another 3 points for Reading IMHO

Dadi, as I said in an earlier post on this match on paper it should be an away win but I've been watching Luton for 15 or 16 years now and if I've worked out 1 thing it's that traditionally we love being written off against a bigger side or being challenged by a bigger side and we almost always raise our game to meet the occasion.

I wouldn't want to put anyone off the away win because as I've said all season Reading are a great side and head and shoulders above anyone I've seen this season and I've seen them all now but the question you have to ask yourself is do you want to take odds on for an away win against a side who led the Champions of Europe 3-1 only 6 weeks ago? I'm not one of these who thinks we could win because Reading are due a loss but I'm a firm believer in the rule that you don't back an away side at odds on anyway but there's another reason to give it a miss for me. Unfortunately Luton are no price either, probably based on that Liverpool game.

However I am certain there will be goals. To be honest we can't really defend and they are dynamite going forward but as we showed against Liverpool we can score against anyone so I much prefer the safer call of over 2.5 goals even at odds on.

To give you an idea of 1st scorer bets, if you were to watch a video of the goals we've conceded this season there will be 3 common themes. The 1st would be Foley's (our right back) lapses in concentration costing us goals although we are short in centre of midfield so he may well be playing there. That's supposed to be his best position anyway! That means Edwards will be right back but he's no better defensively so Convey would be a threat at 14/1. Theme 2 would be a striker beating Coyne our centre back to the ball to score but he's doubtful for tonight thankfully so that one might be negated and theme 3 is we don't block midfield runners for some reason we just let them shoot! As Koumas found out to his delight the other night. That would make Sidwell (10/1) and Harper (22/1) equally attractive options. For us our goals tend to come from Howard 9/1, Vine who got 2 in midweek 9/1 Nicholls who is the penalty taker 14/1 and Brkovic who is 12/1.

Another bet that may prove worthwhile is Paddy Power's 8/1 that Luton will lead at half time and not win. It happened against Liverpool and Cardiff on Tuesday night. We don't sit back and defend leads so there's always a chance of Reading getting back into it if we do lead and with our lightweight squad we do tire towards the end.

My bets for tonight are:
10pts Over 2.5 goals 1.98 Betfair
4pts Sidwell to score anytime 3.95 Betfair
4pts Nicholls to score anytime 6.00 Ladbrokes
2pts Luton to lead at half time and not win 9.00 Paddy Power

Hope that helps and good luck to all who bet tonight.

There will be only one winner tonight, and that will be reading. Luton pushed liverpool close in the fa cup. But strange things always happen in the cup. Luton have been punching above there weight all season, I reckon 3_0 reading.

ReasoningWatford can get back on the winning trail here. With Watford winning nearly 50% of their away matches and Brighton losing 7 of their home games this season already, a bet at over evens looks like potential value. In the week Watford lost to Leeds but on Saturday will hope to welcomie back 3 regulars to the teams. With Watford third form top and Brighton third from bottom I expect a hard fought contest with The Hornets delivering the killing strings to The Seagulls.

Luton v Reading
Reading just keep getting results and it should be no different tonight, they are unbeaten in 33 and should get the win here. There should be goals in this one - Luton are loose at the back and Reading always seem to score a few and with Lita back there options up front are good.
Luton have injury doubts surrounding Chris Coyne (knee), Paul Underwood (hip) and Warren Feeney (groin).Recent signing David Bell is definitely ruled out after damaging his knee ligaments while midfielder Steve Robinson (knee) is still absent.
Reading can welcome back Brynjar Gunnarsson from suspension while striker Leroy Lita is also available. Lita missed Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Sheffield United with a facial injury.

4 draws small stakes:

Leicester v Leeds X
Plymouth V Coventry X
Sheff Wed V Sheff U X
Wolves V Ipswich X

Should get 2 from these 4 at least. 31% of championship matches have been drawn this season and I think there is a strong possbility that the above games will end all square.

Im going with the general opinion with Over 2.5 goals in the Luton - Reading game.

Stats arent quite as strong as I first thought but are still good.

Luton are 5 from 8 over in their last 8 games, 4 from 5 in their last 5 home games.
Reading are 5 from 8 over in their last 8 games, 2 from 5 in their last 5 away.(the other 3 all had 2 goals in)

58.8% of Lutons games have had 3+ goals whereas Reading its 44.1%.

61 goals have been scored at Luton so far this season, more than any other club in the Championship and an average of 3.58 per game.

OVER 2.5 Goals
1.98 @ Betfair

Cardiff for me this weekend. They're going really well at the moment and at home to Hull, who are no great shakes, I'd expect them to win fairly easy. Odds aren't bad too.

Watford are top quality and, in spite of the suspended players, should be far too good for dismal Brighton. Nothing else really appeals to me, although Black Cat's draws look like they might actually have some merit. I always put a couple of quid on Wolves drawing...regardless of who they're playing.

Finished 3-2 to Luton. That's most bets up the spout, apart from the more than 2 goals one, which I didn't think was good value. C'est la vie.

Football's a funny old game but I just knew we'd stick in a performance tonight. It's what we do, play well against the better sides and struggle against the weaker ones. I didn't think an away win would be as easy as it sounded. It wasn't vintage from us but a win is a win and I'll take it!

3 for me in the Championship on Saturday

10pts Norwich to beat Derby 1.92 Betfair

Norwich come fresh off a 3-0 win over Brighton in midweek while Derby drew at Leicester. Derby are out of form at the minute and are showing no signs of it changing whereas Earnshaw is starting to settle in at Carrow Rd and I expect to see Norwich's form pick up. At almost evens Norwich have to be the call to beat an average Derby.

10pts Sheff Utd to beat Sheff Wed 2.25 Stan James

The 2nd Sheffield derby of the season. United won the 1st 1-0 and I think they'll win the 2nd one too. Sheffield Wednesday are having troubles scoring right now and in order to get anything out of this you feel they will need to score because with all of United's firepower they are likely to score at least one if not more. United probably wouldn't need another reason to go all out for a win given that it's a derby but if they do then Luton's win on Friday night means this is an opportunity to close the gap on runaway leaders Reading. The away win looks a fairly safe option here.

10pts Lay Leicester 3.00 Betfair

High flying Leeds go to Leicester having beaten Watford in midweek. They are chasing Sheffield Utd hard for 2nd spot in the league and will want to pounce on any slip ups that the Blades may make. However they have stuttered away recently with draws at Derby and Ipswich which makes a lay of Leicester who are missing their 1st choice goalie for this game a far safer option.

ReasoningA loss at Leeds interrupted Watford's winning streak, and saw them back to 4th position, but it shouldn't hold them from winning here and getting back on track.

Brighton collected only 1 point in their last 5 games, and judging by the way they looked at those games I think they'd need a miracle to escape relegation.

I think the odds here are based on last season's draw in here and Brighton winning at home, as well as this season's 1st leg at Watford where the two have drawn too.

But I don't think it's realistic to expect a draw here on this form of both teams, and an away win should be a peice of cake.

Good Luck!

Millwall have won just 2 of their 17 home games this season. Infact they've lost 9 of 17 at home and only managed 8 goals in those 17 games. Add to this, that they have two strikers in Hayles and Asaba out, where are their goals going to come from? They are without a win in their last 6 in the championship, all be it 3 of those games ending in draws. Palace beginnng to look safe in the playoffs, but need to keep the results ticking over. They haven't won in their last 3 away games, but before that they won 3 on the trot. Millwall away seems the perfect game to get that away form back on track.
