Any info much appreciated, cheers.
You may be thinking of me, or Djslutmonkey is also a Wednesday fan.

My take on it, having been home and away to all games this season, is that we will probably get a tanning tomorrow.

As the other poster said, in patches we have played good football, unfortunately overshadowed by long periods of mediocrity.

It may be worth looking into Swansea's set piece threat, as has been said before, our keeper is a clown when it comes to corners and crosses and we have conceeded so many goals through him not coming out to collect balls he should be hanging onto.

Defence will be as per tomorrow, solid but young and prone to switch off - our captain Richard Wood is rumoured to be ready to hand in a transfer request, so can't see him being on top form.

I'm going to predict we will try to play our direct, attacking football, but get torn to pieces on the break and probably end up losing something like 3-1. I wonder if you can get a market on Swansea coming from behind to win?

I'm hoping the long journey will not be in vain, but I would snap your hands off for a point as I expect us to crumble once the going gets tough..

SWANSEA WIN @ 1.90 with Paddy Power or Swansea -1 on the Handicap @ 3.75 with Paddy Power.

I like the look of that 9/1 bet SWFC, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Are you going tomorow?

I'll be setting off in about 4 hours mate, try to get down there for 12:30ish, get some kip at a mates who lives in Swansea and have an early start.

In all our games this season, we have scored first ... the results ended up 4-1, 1-1, 1-4 and 1-1..

We've only managed to hold onto a lead once ... scary..

Yeah, good stats for the bet but bad for you im afraid.

We're not doing much better at the minute either though so get yourself a few quid on Blackburn at 2/1 tomorow.

Enjoy the game anyway mate.

Southampton v Blackpool - 5/6 bet365

This is a decent bet for the home win in my opinion. At the start of the season I did expect both teams to struggle, but Southampton's youthful side have looked much more encouraging than Blackpool, who have looked poor since losing Hoohalan to Norwich in summer. The tangerines have lost both home games, and their only point was away at Norwich, which was due to them getting a penalty and Norwich's awful finishing rather than a good performance. Southampton had a good win in midweek over Birmingham, and getting that win under their belts should hold them in good stead for this one

Burnley v Plymouth 7/2 skybet, 2/1 DNB bet365

I feel this is great value for this game on the Plymouth win. Im not saying they will win but 7/2 is too good to miss in my opinion. They are both stranded on 1 point from 3 games but i feel this doesnt tell the whole story. When you look at the 3 games, Plymouth drew 2-2 with a decent wolves side, and were 10 minutes from winning, they went down 2-0 at reading to 2 set piece goals in a game which they were equal, and lost at home to swansea in again, a game in which both sides had chances. On the other hand burnley have lost 4-1 to sheff wed, 3-0 at home to ipswich, and their 1 point came against palace, who havent scored a goal and were down to 9 men for half an hour, and they still couldnt break them down. Paul Sturrock knows how to get results in this league with his unfashionable Plymouth side, and against a Burnley team playing so badly, i think are worth a nibble at 7/2, or 2/1 DNB

Swansea v Sheff Wed - evens ladbrokes

I agree with the above sentiments on this game. Swansea have settled in to championship football well after a disapoointing defeat at charlton, with 2 wins since then, including a 3-1 home win over forest. Sheff Wed also look a more decent side since last season wioth 4 points from a possible 9, however their 1 defeat came in a 4-1 tanking at wolves, so this gives an indication they may be poor travellers, and the liberty stadium is not an easy place to go. I've got a feeling that maybe a couple more months into the season swansea would be easily odds on in this game, so am willing to have some of the evens on offer at ladbrokes. Home win

Norwich v Birmingham

No bet in this game for me, although i would put people off thinking birmingham will win this game. I actually looked at norwich at 9/4 as a decent bet, but am going to leave it alone. Looking at the table does not give a full indication of these 2 sides capabilities to be honest. Norwich sit on 2 points but were the better side in their defeat at coventry, should have trounced blackpool but for poor finishing, and gained a creditable draw at cardiff after being 2-0 down. Someone is going to get a hiding from them soon i think, once hoohalan settles in and cureton and lupoli start gelling. Now im not suggesting they'll trounce birmingham, but i would warn people away from this game as Birmingham's maximum points would suggest they are blowing everyone away, and this is not the case. Hardest game of the season so far IMO, and one better observed than betting on. No bet

Reading v Palace 5/6 coral

This is more a bet against Palace rather than better for Reading, as they have 0 goals so far this season and dont even look like scoring really. The club seems to be in turmoil and feel it is worthwhile betting against them while the situation is like this. Reading should have too much for them here, they can obviously get goals and one has to think if they do get a goal, then Palace wont be able to pull one back. Any thoughts?

EventBarnsley v Derby
SelectionBarnsley (Lay)
Strength10/10
Date30/08/2008
Bookmaker/PriceBetfair @ 2.54 (Lay)
ReasoningBarnsley have lost all three games that they have played in the league so far. They also lost in the first round of the Carling Cup 2-0 away to League One side Crewe.

Derby have been poor also only picking up 1 point from 3 games, They were looking to bounce back after going down from the Premiership last year. However they showed signs of promise midweek with a 1-0 victory away to Presyon in the cup, Preston are unbeaten this season so far in the league so that was a good result.

Derby have a great chance to kick start there season here with a result at Barnsley, At worst I see a draw.

Have to disagree with you there mate. Barnsley fair enough have no points, but oakwell isnt an easy place to go to especially when you consider derby havent won a league game for nearly a year. Preston rested players in midweek when derby beat them, and when you dont have a massive squad like preston dont, this can affect you. Derby also only just scraped through on pens against league 2 lincoln, and they have no points. Barnsley have had 2 expected away defeats against decent sides, and although the coventry home defeat was poor, im sure simon davey wont let that happen again. If forced to pick id be backing barnsley here, but no bet is the option for me

Derby drew with Birstol City away though, The only points Bristol City have dropped. Good away point.

I can't get much right at this football lark at the moment anyway so don't let me put you off.

Barnsley - Derby
Saturday 30 aug 16.00
Bet: 1a, 2.50 Ladbrokes, Bet1128.com, Stan James
Bet 2: Hcp X, oddgoalwin for Barnsley.

Barsley has no points so far and Derby has 1. Derby are overrated by bookies after their premier league season. For a start Derby got in to PL by sliding on a nutshell with worst possible economics. During the preseason Derby where forced to sell 8 of the players from last season and have instead picked upp some unexperienced younger ones. Example a striker from Latvia with low price tag which in my opinion wont do much good just like that in english football. Derby don't afford to buy better.

During preseason Derby haven't got the team together at all and done bad results everywhere. One was 2-0 loss against dutch side Top OSS which is one of the bottom teams right now in dutch Jupiler. Derby surely has to many unexperienced players right now to be a top team so my guess is the PL season makes a hangover for Derby and the team is bound to struggle in the second league.

Barsley have met some difficult opposition in the three first games but done well on the pitch and been even against QPR Birmingham and Coventry. None of those three where games Barnsley where supposed to win on the paper. Coventry has beaten Barnsley 6 straight games and 3 straight away. Ian Hume, striker in Canadas nationalteam now plays for Barnsley after 3 years in Leicester. Exactly what a team like Barnsley needs. Not to expensive player and with a lot of english experience. Hume could prove quite an asset for Barnsley. I also expect Barnsley to give 110% tomorrow and with Hume on the pitch the home team should draw the longest straw.
Ian Hume is back from suspension and ready to play against Rams.

Derby managed to defeat Barnsley away 93 and 07. 2 away wins on 5 attempts during 15 years. Derby have been valued as big favorites at home against Doncaster and Southampton but this season Derby just is'nt the kind of team to trust. Derbys current squad is not better then the bottom of the Championship where Barnsley and Derby probably will struggle.

Southampton - Blackpool
12:45 BST aug 30
Bet: 1, 1.83 Eurobet

Michael Svensson and Chris Perry should return to the heart of the Southampton defence for the televised clash with Blackpool at St Mary's.Skipper Svensson and fellow centre-half Perry were rested for the midweek Carling Cup win over Birmingham, and although Jack Cork and Wayne Thomas impressed in their absence, boss Jan Poortvliet is likely to revert to his first-choice pairing.
Kelvin Davis will return in goal in place of Bartosz Bialkowski and youngster Jamie White could come back in on the right of midfield with Paul Wotton dropping to the bench. Stern John last year made the only goal when Saints defeated Blackpool at home but this year I reccon Saints have improved but Blackpool has not.

Teenage Czech striker Tomas Pekhart joined on loan from Tottenham earlier this week and could be on the bench Saints.

Midfielder Rudi Skacel is the only injury absentee with an ankle problem, although he is not being considered as he is expected to leave the club in the near future.

Blackpool boss Simon Grayson is poised to hand David Vaughan his full debut.
The £200,000 summer signing has been forced to wait patiently for a chance since his arrival from Real Sociedad.

Vaughan was signed as a left winger, but the early success of on-loan Liverpool rookie Adam Hammill has kept him on the bench.
Grayson's men have taken just one point from their opening three games to lie one place above the relegation zone.
And the Seasiders boss admits Vaughan could now be given a role on the left side of a central midfield three in a 4-5-1 formation. However, midfielder Keith Southern is still suspended and left-back Stephen Crainey and strikers Daniel Nardiello and Stephen McPhee could all remain sidelined.

A home team with good form and no important players missing and home team that rested players in midweek but still won against highly ranked opposition.
And we have an away team with 4 important players missing and two are strikers.
Absolutely a home win with a probable first half lead and two goal margin at the end.

Barnsley could be interesting bet against Derby really. Derby are one of teams in crisis at the moment, but I'm put off against this one by Barnsley's defeat against Birmingham. It's not a big deal to lose against Birmingham, but that match was one-way traffic according to reports, so no bet for me.

This morning I saw news about 'illegal' trial that Derby defender Tyron Mears had at Marseille, and will be probably disciplined for that, so this could be interesting news for fellow punters with money on this match.

Bristol City (@2.40 totesport) to beat QPR.

QPR were well beaten away from home by Blades the other week, and I must admit this is my stronger reason for this bet, as it is still early season.

City were deserved winners against Coventry in their last league match, and generally they were threat to all opponents in league so far, with plenty of shots on target (one of the best teams so far in that segment of game), and if they perform like they did at Coventry I can see them taking all points today.

Burnley (2.00 at ladborkes) to beat Plymouth.

Both sides opened season with two defeats and draw, and although if goal difference for Burnley looks awful (1-7), they were quite unlucky in all three games and their 0-1-2 record so far could easily be different.

They were better team against Palace last weekend and could even get all three points in that match, while 3-goal margin defeats to Ipswich and Wednesday were maybe too harsh if you take into account what happened on the field.

Anyway, they booked much needed win against League One pace-setters Oldham in midweek, and that win should be important moral boost which could turn their season around.

Last 5 corresponding meetings finished in home win for Burnley, I think this one won't be different.

Bet of the day for me.
