Hi all,
I disagree that birmingham will take the three points at Norwich and can also see bristol city getting a point against QPR. My selections this week are Sheffield United and Wolves.
Despite Wolves defeat to Rotherham in mid week. They have been playing some irresistable football so far, and believe that if they are not stricken by injuries, this could be there year!
I watched Sheffield United on first day of season at Birmingham, and apart from Kevin Phillips magical moment, Sheffield United played some brilliant football, like they have done past two weeks.

I can see Birmingham taking three points at Norwich, however the QPR game will be closely fought. Seems a bit daft putting them all in a treble. Bristol City drew 2-2 with QPR last season. Reading should take care of Palace especially after the drubbing at Elland Road midweek. Maybe a Brum Reading double is the safer option?

I strongly agree with backing Wolves & intend to put them in a double with League ones Brighton. Sheffield are very strong at home & can see them getting at least a point against Cardiff.

I have not looked lower than the Championship yet. But Brighton have been in some good form..(Even though were only a few games in) But things must look encouraging towards their fans.

Wolves for me too. They seemed to have rested quite a few for the Rotherham game compared to the side that won at Ipwsich

Any final thoughts on Birmingham to beat Norwich away?... Norwich haven't won yet but have had relative success against Brum in the past 6 seasons, 2 x 1 nil been the score line at home.

Birmingham on the other hand don't seem to be playing that well but are getting maximum points every time. They have the depth in squad to produce moments of individual magic, of which is personified in Kevin Phillips. I suppose the defeat in the cup away at Southampton might effect there confidence.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated...

As I said, I would avoid Birmingham. I can see Norwich gaining a point or even taking all three points!

Point taken. Thanks. Birmingham could well be deflated after crashing out of cup too...

from what I ve read the opinion on Norwich suggests they are playing better than the results suggest but have lacked a finisher. Lupoli looked good last weekend and may be now finding his feet. If Birmingham were at home i'd back them but they looked iffy at Southampton in both the games (league/league cup) so this week i'd leave them out of the doubles/trebles.

sheff utd look good for the weekend, but the odds arent good enough imo.

cardiff managed to finish 3-3 after leading 3-1 in last seasons corresponding fixture and its looking a little ominous for us atm.

we're unbeaten so far, and a draw is a possibility again, but we have injuries to capaldi, scimeca, Rae and there are doubts over blake, mcnaughton and kennedy. whilst I'm not to bothered about most of these, the worrying area of the pitch for me is the defensive triangle of centre defence and defensive midfield. Rae has improved greatly over the last 6 months, but for me, scimeca is the better option. unfortunately on his return from injury, he's gone and gotten himself a new injury agains the mk dons. with rae also out, the position may go to youngster darcy blake but i have my doubts whether this kid is/will be good enough at this level. Ledley would be a more reasonable replacement here, but i think he's more likely to slip into the left back slot with capaldi injured. Jones is looking at further loan cover, but this wont arrive until sept, he reports. Despite this, the centre back pairing of purse and johnson is worrying, although its not johnson i have concerns over! Norwich were unlucky not to beat us last week and it was evident that there is a weakness at the back at present. Geypes may come in but Jones has not made any clear indication what his thinking is here. McCormack is settling in well and with Eddie Johnson now recruited on loan, I can see us getting at least one goal.

sheff utd appear to have started fairly well and will be confident going into this game - they should be up there come may and at this point in time, especially given the injuries, I'd be happy with a point here.

no bet for me though as i'd be looking for around 2.10-2.25 on sheffield for it to be worth playing. Over 2.5 goals may be worth taking too if the price drifts into the same price range.

Is there not a fella that supports Shef Wed on here? Normally very reliable and honest when it comes to his team...

Anyway, if yer on mate, what d'you think about Saturday's game? Swansea look as though they're flying the now and the Liberty stadium could be a fortress this year, whats the team news etc?

Any info much appreciated, cheers.

Calsa, there is but cant remember who it is your talking about.

Anyway, think Swansea should do the business against Wednesday. They played well despite losing 2-0 to Charlton but then beat Forest 3-1 at home and Plymouth 0-1 away. In midweek, they knocked out Premier League Hull in the Carling Cup so are in top form. Sheff Wed beat Burnley 4-1 (who have turned out to be league's early whipping boys) then lost heavily at Wolves and drew with Preston so could be anything this season. Taking all into account, Swansea look decent value to me.

I am really surprised no oned monetioned Southampton at home offered at decent oods against Blackpool... I think they have much more quality and better organised squad the Blackpool at the moment and at home they are more likely to use it to get all 3 points...

Yeah Southhampton look good against a poor Blackpool side. The Saints will be full of confidence after disposing of much rated Birmingham midweek!

i may not be the bloke you are on about but i can give you a fair assessment on Wednesday this season as i've seen every game.

we have played very very well in patches in all of the games. Burnley really could have been double figures, Wolves we could have been 2 or 3 up before they scored, after they scored it was one way traffic and the Preston game should have been all done and dusted before half time.

if Wednesday turn up they are a very good price tomorrow but i tend to avoid betting on Wednesday as they are so unpredictable

Well I've gone for Bristol City this weekend. I get the impression that the bookies dont know how to accurately price up QPR at the minute. They seem to be offering tighter odds than usual so they dont get stung if the team realises their potential. This in turn makes the other side's prices look appealing and I'm having a bit of City this weekend. They only suffered defeat 3 times at home last year and concerns of second-season syndrome dont look to be a factor after their unbeaten start. Gary Johnson's team have a fully-fit squad (McAllister the only concern) to choose from and as long as they can keep QPR's Ledesma quiet, they should be able to create enough chances against a defence missing the presence of centre-half Fitz Hall. QPR may prove the bookies right (and me wrong ), but at this early stage of the season, I'm gonna lean towards the more established lines of form.

1pt B City (-0.25 AH) to beat QPR @ 1.95 (bet365)

GL all...

Reading v Palace

The latest developments suggest things may be worse than I thought at Palace. Manager Warnock now indicates that there are several first team players who are keen to leave and this is working against the club. To this effect he has put Scowcroft and Soares up for sale along with Fletcher and Ifill who were already on the list. This weeks move for Ipswich's Alan Lee has stalled so Palace will again be lightweight up front this week. A trip to Reading is tough indeed and in these circumstances you have to favour the home side, the price has fallen already from it's opening mark and it will probably continue to do so. Reading have held onto the bulk of last years squad and are a settled club compared to the turbulence at Palace. The signing of Armstrong at full back could release key man Stephen Hunt to reclaim a more attacking role. Although Palace's strength is an excellent defence it's hard to see them holding out here.
