After failing to find an appropriate bet in this division Saturday several come close this midweek, though as at the Weekend best to keep stakes small IMO at this early stage. There's a little mini Lincolnshire tournament going on in this division this season with four sides battling for supremacy Boston can gain a head start IMO by avoiding defeat @ 9/4 (Bet 365) at Grimsby. Boston were strong movers ante post due to a flood of scottish signings and the eventual arrival of Gazza, they got the perfect start on Saturday with a solid 1-0 win over an experienced and fancied Oxford side. Boston boss Steve Evans means business this year with fans and management alike expecting a top 6 challenge. United were one of the form sides in the later stages of last season, taking a comfortable mid table berth. Away form can let Boston down, but the pressure is all on the home side here IMO to produce the goods. Grimsby have suffered consecutive relegations turning now to surprise choice Russell Slade to led the revival. It may well take the new man time to regroup his squad and adjust to this level, Saturdays defeat to expected strugglers Darlington was a poor start in my book. Town's main summer signing Michael Reddy is only expected to play a bit part in a match most Grimsby fans will expect to win. Early doors and a good test of Boston's creditionals but 9/4 is a tad too generous IMO to see if they can live up to their early hype. A like Bristol Rovers this year Ian Atkins is a winner he's signed a solid set of players many of whom were begrudgly released by the selling clubs. Rovers have every chance of making it 2 out of 2 v Bury. Notts County have the firepower in Hurst and Gordon to win at Kidderminster but 7/4 is not quite enough for me. While Northampton could well outgun local rivals Rushden who are still putting their team together. Recommendation Grimsby v Boston 9/4 plus draw saver (Bet 365) 1 Pt Pts Ratio 0.25 - 5 FA

Have to slightly disagree with Footy Analyser on this one. I went to the Darlington - Grimsby match on Saturday and have to say they looked like a side who will have too much for this division. I thought they were the better team and our keeper got a deserved man of the match award which says a lot. Michael Reddy came on shortly after the interval and looked promosing. Im sure he'll play a part tonight. I thought 5/4 was generous for the home win but Boston have made some signings and could be a suprise outfit this season. The arrival of Gazza has obviously brought a buzz around the place. One team I will unfortunatly be backing are Yeovil. We have had to make the long trip south for tonights game and were poor travellers at the best of times. We havnt made any worthwile signings pre season and are now playing with a very weak forward line consisting of a centre back and possibly a midfielder. It will be a 5-3-2 formation from us and im sure we will be going down there to defend and steal a point but I dont think we can hold out against an attacking Yeovil side who will be eager to get there first points on the board. I believe the 8/11 home win is a very safest bet tonight.

I have to agree with Footy Analyser on his bit about Bristol Rovers. They have a good manager and have brought some usefull players that will surely do a job in this division. For me they should be too strong for Bury especially at home as well. Looking at the other games Lincoln are also another team that I think will do well and should see off Southend. Another fancy is one of the leagues favourites, Northampton who entertain R & D. Three homes there but then again its early doors and you just get the feeling one might slip up. ![]()

The derby we've wanted for ten years is finally here, a chance at last to let the villagers know who's boss in this here county of ours. There is a real buzz around the club at the moment and a general feeling of optimism for the season ahead. Last year's run in the second half of the season was promotion form and we've added a proven goalscorer (Scott McGleish) to the side. Our strikeforce has goals written all over them, and McGleish knocked in his first goal after just three minutes on Saturday. The loss of captain Paul Reid and midfield man Chris Hargreaves just before the season was unexpected but good players have been brought in to replace them. Watch out for McGleish tonight, if we can grab an early goal in front of the sell-out crowd we could go crazy, if not one goal should settle it, pray that it be for the men in claret and white! Northampton v Rushden McGleish first goalscorer 5.5 (B365)
