At the risk of sounding overly pessimistic once again, 1.90 looks VERY nice odds for Wycombe to beat Wrexham. Can't imagine the uncertainty about coming out of admin is helping the Wrexham players much, and all accounts say we were shocking in the 5-0 loss to Port Vale yesterday, especially the keeper Mike Ingham. Assuming we'll play new boys Steve Evans and Ryan Valentine, and the returning Chris Llewellyn and Neil Roberts (depending on fitness, Roberts and Valentine missed the Vale game), so we may take a while to settle down as well. Would also bet against our striker(s) getting many goals, as Roberts and Llewellyn have both been tried up front by themselves and neither has a record of scoring prolifically.

Past 6 times we've played at Wycombe, 1 win, 2 draws, 3 losses, all of which were by 3 goals. For me, looking like a solid bet on Wanderers.

Agreed, Jaded, on our record there.
At the prices (and allowing for pre-season being misleading), Darlo at 1.80, Lincoln at 2.00 and, to a lesser extent, Barnet at 2.25 look worth small money

I can't take my eyes off the Walsall price at Dale. I know Dale have really struggled with signings and injuries. Combined with the terrible run they had last season I can see them struggling with the drop this year. Will speak to my Dale mate and see what he thinks but he sounded desperate last time I asked him about their chances.

Don't know much about Walsall mind but the 2.70 (it's 2.8 on Betfair) looks too good to turn down. If anyone has any news surrounding Walsall I'd be intrested to hear it.

Walsall have a lot of new signings & its all how quickly they gel. Personally I think Money is a good appointment & I'm expecting big things from James Constable this season.
The reason why they're a swerve this week is because what would normally be considered their 1st choice central defence in Roper & Westwood, are both suspended. Theyve a new Aussie signing in Allen Picken from Moneys old club who is highly rated & may become 1st choice, but those odds are too short for me this week

Wycombe now 2.00 at Will Hill, looks a very good bet to me with continued problems at Wrexham, and the loan striker we were apparently trying to bring in not coming now.

Bet365 have Stanley at 3.30 and tempted there, Chester's new signings may take some time to settle down together, and Mark Wright's urging them not to be overconfident.

Lincoln up to 2.15 if you still fancy them, BB. (Will Hill again)

I'm on Walsall. Simply because I think Rochdale have major injury worries ahead of the game which should effect their tiny squad. My season ticket mate at Dale seriously thinks they are going to get beat on Saturday. So much so that he's going to the cricket instead.

They have a squad of 16, 5 of which are apparently injured.
Expect the bench to made up entirely of the youth team.

STOCKPORT V Hereford United @ 2.20

I have mentioned on the antepost thread the reasons I think Hereford will struggle this season and think this is a v.good price for Stockport. Since Jim Gannon took over last season they improved dramatically, and were the 9th best side over the 2nd half of the season. I remember Shrewsbury went there towards the end of last season with a chance of the playoffs but were played off the park, not so much with great football but with pace and controlled aggression. The crowd create a great atmosphere and I expect them to really go at Hereford from the kick off; I fully expect a home win and am also considering the Home-Home HT/FT @ 4.00.

Just the one game taht interests me this week;

Grimsby to beat Boston 1.95 Bet365
Over 2.5 goals 1.95 Expekt

Grimsby came so close last season while Boston struggled for much of it, i cant see why things will be any different this time round so must back the home side at this price which i reckon is fair value, also think we may get some goals although i know local derbies can be tight i dont think this will be, heres hoping!

2 for me chaps.

5pts Swindon +0.25 AH vs Hartlepool 1.91 Pointbet

I fancy Swindon to go really well this season. Hartlepool have lost their main striker which could have a major impact. Swindon have signed some very good, experienced players and I reckon they'll get something from Victoria Park. As long as Swindon don't lose, we don't lose and that's an equation I like!

3pts Wycombe to beat Wrexham 2.2 Betfair

Wycombe set off like a house on fire last season and will want a repeat this season. Wrexham's away form wasn't great last season and their record at the Causeway Stadium is not great. I'm unsure whether Paul Lambert is the right man for Wycombe in the long term but hopefully he guides them to an opening day win at least. I think he will.

Bristol Rovers look attractive at 3.50. I think Posh will find it difficult to contain Bristol Rovers this afternoon,as they have been letting in goals throughout their pre-season games, losing a majority of them, and at least three times to non-leaue opposition, and the last thing you want is an opener against Agogo & Walker.

Posh are without Carden & Gain who were their first choice central midfield pairing last year. They will ost likely be replaced by Butcher (a new signing from Oldham) & Holden, who played mainly at right back last year.

Holden had a habit of getting booked & sent off last year, so now it looks like he'll be in the thick of the action, expect that to increase.

interesting that no-one [accept jaded!] finds any real value in Accy or Hereford! I think both are capable of a minor miracle today!
