| Stoke, West Brom & Hull to go down. Can't understand why everyone is bigging up Hull now, the only signin ive been impressed with is Boateng. Although im going to wait to see what turns up and who signs who. |

| Abetawe - The Boat is 33 in a few weeks too, still he is much younger than Windass and Barmby. Hull seem to have a bit more cash than Stoke at present. LeeSpam - It pains me but Sunderland at 6/4 look value against Boro with Totesport, I would say they should be some where around 6/5. Especially as they are showing decent ambition in the transfer market. |

| I have had £50 double of West Brom and Hull to get relegated at 2/1 with Hills. I have also picked out a treble of Hull and Stoke to get relegated and Dundee Utd without the old firm (E/w). You are basically getting a bet that Dundee UTd will finish in the top 5 which is a great bet however does anyone know if a firm will give me straight odds for a Dundee Utd top 5 finish as i'm not sure how you'd back the other two to be relegated and then Dundee Utd e/w as an accumulator? What I've done is divide the 3/1 for utd without the old firm by 1/5 and taking those odds and the two relegation odds as a treble would be 2/1 which in my opinion is a great bet. I just can not see Utd finishing out the top 5 or the other two staying up. |

| I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet but Everton to finish in the top 6 looks a cracking price at 9/4 to me (Ladbrokes). David Moyes has built a brilliant side that can hold their own against the top sides and although are unlikely to break into the big four, should finish above the likes of Portsmouth, Tottenham, Villa and Man City. The fans there seem to be getting a little anxious about the lack of transfer activity but Moyes is one of the best in the business and they should trust his judgement. Even if Johnson goes, Moyes record in the transfer market suggests he will find a good replacement and anyway, Yakubu can be relied upon for goals. With the likes of Lescott, Arteta and Cahill still there they have a strong nucleus. In the Championship I think Derby are a decent bet for promotion at 4/1 (Ladbrokes) - I remember discussing them with WHUpunter earlier in pre-season (probably in this thread somewhere). Jewell is a very good manager and motivator and he has taken teams out of this division twice. They have signed well (I saw Liam Dickinson last season against Bradford and he was very good, and they've got Ellington and Albrechtson (sp) etc with Prem experience) and will have been gearing up for this stab at promotion ever since Jewell went to Pride Park. League One looks hard to call but without their points deduction Leeds should be there or therabouts with the quality in their squad. Things tailed off for them after Poyet left last season but McCallister will have had a chance to take a step back and assess things over the summer and with the quality in their side it would be a suprised if they finished outside the top three. I think they are almost certain to finish in the top six, so even then they could have a second crack at promotion through the play-offs. 10/11 is avail, var. In League Two Lincoln should improve now they will have a full season under Peter Jackson and Shrewsbury have made their intentions clear and splashed the cash in the summer. Darlington still have a good squad from last year and even though they haven't spent big, have brought in some ex-Stockport lads that should do a job for them. Wycombe too should be knocking on the door of automatic promotion and Leon Knight is likely be high up on the top scorer charts. But for me, Bradford are the team to be on. They are my own team, so yes, I may be getting a little carried away with our chances but I think we have great claims for promotion at 5/2 (Skybet). I really don't think there are three better teams than us in this division now we have strengthened over the summer. Michael Boulding and Peter Thorne looks a very good strike force for this level and the other signings McCall has brought in have been equally as impressive. People may be wary of backing Bradford this season after they mouthed off last season but things are different now as McCall has now had a chance to make the team his own and he learnt last season where we were going wrong. The fact our form picked up after Christmas suggests he does have managerial ability and that he can get us out of this division. A four-way accumulator on the four bets above gives odds of approximately 80/1. Last edited by fintron; 04-08-2008 at 14:01. |

| Just done a multibet on 6-folds for the season. Decided against the value of betting for Rangers or Celtic, too close to call and not enough value, likewise Man Utd or Chelsea, just in case Arsenal or Liverpool make the grade? Same could be said about the value of Dundee or St Johnstone, but stuck them in anyway. Championship - Derby County (10/1) have bought well and changed a lot of their squad. They will obviously need to gel, but in Paul Jewell they habe a manager who knows how to get out of that Division. I don't believe McLeish can stay the distance with Birmingham and, if Reading are not able to cope with the loss of Kitson et al, Coppell will walk away. Palace may be a good outside bet, but I don't think you can discount the fact that Q.P.R. (11/2) have an owner that is in the Abramovich status of wealth and the January transfer could help push them towards the title. League One - for me, Leeds United (3/1) and Leicester City (5/1) should be too strong for the rest of the Division. The whole saga of the 15 point deduction hanging over Leeds undeniably hindered their great progress last season late on and I think that they will start well and keep up the pace at the top with a clean slate this year. Gary McAllister should be the type of manager to play the right football to entertain, but hopefully it will be the right brand of football to get them promoted as well? Leicester City were unlucky to eventually go down and have a good manager and squad for this Division. I think this, plus a decent support will see them up the top at the season end. League Two - Shrewsbury Town (15/2) have bought well and with a new stadium and a bit of cash, they will go far. Likewise, Bradford City (15/2) have an excellent support and they are a big club that will be able to spend to add to a strong aquad. Scottish League 1 - Dundee (15/8) have the biggest wage bill in the League and the best attendances. 2,500 season tickets, an average crowd of over 4,000 and top quality players for this League. Antoine Courier from Hibs will score freely, as will Colin McMenamin plus the purchase of the veteran Colin Cameron will help settle the youngsters. They pushed Hamilton Accies hard last year, so they will be in the Top 2 this year, I think. Likewise, St Johnstone (2/1) have a good, localised support and a decent squad. They have bought Colin Samuel, who'll get them goals, along with MacDonald, and this is vital for League 1. Scottish League Two - Raith Rovers (7/2) are the only full-time club in the Division and their fitness will be fantastic compared to the teams where the guys are working for a living during the day. A less fancied side, Peterhead (11/2), beat East Fife (supposed title favourites at 3/1 to do back-to-back titles, just because Staevie Crawford has gone there?) away 2-1 last week and they will be hard to beat up North after a long journey. They finished well last season and just missed out on the play-offs. Finally, Scottish League Three - Dumbarton (10/3) have money and look to have bought a strong squad. I also fancy Berwick Rangers (5/1) to bounce back after a disappointing year following their Div. 3 title win. 2 from each Division. 64 x 6 folds @ £3 = £192 GL everyone! ![]()

| fintron, Everton top 6 is looking bleek. Last season was the first time that Everton have managed to finish back to back seasons in the top 6, so what makes you think they will go for it a 3rd time running? Andy Johnson was practically useless and Yak is definitely an upgrade but they are rather depleted in depth. Obviously in order for them to finish ahead of the rest of the group they really need a healthy Arteta and Cahill. Last season they managed to gain a lot of solid performances from the backups but will that be enough? Also I do not think their squad is built for both cup and league play. Sooner or later Moyes will have to start prioritizing things, whether it is gunning for CL or the UEFA Cup, the further they go into the cup, the more likely it can effect their potential chance at grabbing a CL spot or finishing up above the rest of the pack. |

| Done another similar one to the above, after Week 1 and seeing who has started well and kept most of them the same, except exchanged Derby County for Birmingham. Thinking of doing another one with Carlisle instead of Leeds and Cowdenbeath instead of Berwick. JDBF

| Final long shot for the season. Have really been sticking with my original picks, following them and making a few adjustments for the "form teams" - I know it's early to pick form teams now, but I have a feeling that these teams will all be in with a shout at the end of the season. Chelsea Birmingham Leeds United Wycombe Wanderers St Johnstone Raith Rovers Dumbarton £125 7-fold. 5 of the 7 I have tipped all season long to have the strength in depth and quality in their squads, but I've replaced Shrewsbury / Bradford with Wycombe Wanderers. WW seem to be putting a good run of results together, 3 weeks of consecutive 90th minute goals has shown they are a battling squad. They have been close with Paul Lambert, but now they have Peter Taylor - surely too good a manager for that Division? Also added in Chelsea, as Big Phil's side look capable of beating everyone. Man Utd don't seem to have the strength in squad when you look at their bench (Chelsea brought on Deco from the bench last week, and had Joe Cole, Anelka, Kalou on the fringes) Good luck everyone. Hopefully, this is a great Glory Hunter post, come May?! ![]() JDBF

Bradford and Leeds are looking very good for promotion too, so the only side thats really letting my acca down is Derby. They started poorly, turned things around, but have been stuttering recently. I have faith in Jewell though, a class manager. | |

| Well some are still in with a chance, others not. Got a decent win in midweek (wasn't around to post on PL beforehand so not going to after post) just means that I have some money to have a go at a massive accumulator (I know a lot of people hate them, but I stand by them). I've looked again at the form teams and the fixtures left, now we are coming up to half-way through the season. I still say that Chelsea will be too strong and have the squad depth over Liverpool and Arsenal. Man Utd may run them close, but the quality will see through in the end for me. Wolves are on fire at the moment. If they beat Birmingham today it's a massive gap at this stage. Iwelomu is scoring for fun and the look a squad capable of winning every game! The difference for me for them vs Birmingham is that Wolves are winning away from home regularly. Also McCarthy has pedigree here in this Division, with Sunderland, and McLeish has not. There are still off the field problems with Birmingham and that doesn't help. Reading were looking in hot form but dropping 5 pts last week has almost ruled them out for me. Leicester have moved to the top again. They are a big club, too big for League One and I think they will spend in January to push for the title. Leeds are too hit and miss for me, 3 games against Northampton in 2 weeks show how inconsistent they are. They have also just lost Beckford for a month. Scunthorpe have fallen away and I don't see Millwall, Oldham, Peterborough, etc staying the disatnce. My worry is MK Dons, I like the manager, but I still go for the money at Leicester, due to fan base. Wycombe are in great form. Unbeaten in the League still, and that's a great thing to say at the end of November. Their defence is rock solid. Before the 2 goals last week, it was 6 in 15 games (9 clean sheets and 6 games with a single goal). That, combined with 90th minute winners and Peter Taylor at the helm is Title winning form! Celtic got dumped out of Europe in midweek and that is good for me. They can concentrate on the SPL title now. 4 pts clear of Rangers and a much better squad, in my opinion, better strikers (why Rangers don't use Boyd more, I'll never know?) St Johnstone have gone on a run of 8 wins and a draw in the last 9. I watched them lose a late goal to bottom side Clyde, but they were excellent. I can see all the others taking points of each other, Partick and Livi are up and down, QoS fallen away, Dunfermline still look dangerous and Dundee with Jocky Scott may have too much to do too late. Raith Rovers are equal top and it could have been much better had they not given away a 2-0 lead vs Brechin last week. Ayr and Brechin are dangers, but I think the fact they are the only full-time status club in the Division will see them pull away over the winter months, plus the quality of striker Gary Wales, bought from Hearts will be too strong for that Division. Stenhousemuir have a good side, gelling well together and a decent manager. They have slipped slightly in recent games, but I'm not too concerned. Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton, Montrose and East Stirling do not look capable of putting together the type of run Stenny had a couple of months ago and the plastic home pitch always makes things difficult for the opposition. Inter Milan beat Juventus recently to go clear at the top and I think it's between the two Milan teams for the title. A bit worried about the quality of Ronaldinho and Inzaghi, but Mourinho for me is the one that separates the sides and will have the mental resolve to push Inter over the line, come May. Lyon have won the title for years, and I don't see them losing it this year. They have already moved 4 pts clear and their form in Europe is coming together. Can't see a consistent challenger for them. Barcelona have been destroying teams with ese. They have scored 4,5 or 6 on 4 occasions in the last 6 weeks and Real Madrid, Valencia and Villareal are dropping silly points all too often for me. Any team with Messi in it, deserve the title. Finally, Bayern Munich, the only team I have picked that are not top of the League. Hoffenheim are backed by serious money, but Klinsmann, Klose & Ribery will (hopefully) be too strong for Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkeusen. They have won 6 out of the last 7 games (drew the other one 2-2 away) so I think they are showing the right form at the right time. 2,822 / 1 ![]() jdbf
