| I would be very very careful with the Stoke bets. They will take quite a few points at home and they will be set up so that they are difficult to beat and they have the perfect manager in Tony Pulis to avoid going down. They are a big physical team, very organised and sides will hate playing against them. West Brom to go down for me, terrible defence this season and their attack will be average in the premiership. They only just managed to go up this season with one of the lowest points total for champions ever and crucially i feel sides will look forward to playing them as they arnt physical and will look to out play teams, they just arnt going to do that in the prem. Just can't see why people are so confident for them to stay up imo. Hull to go down simply because i think they have lost to much ground on the other sides and looking at recent seasons play off winning teams don't do well in the prem. Swansea to go up as champions ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ref Stoke - Newcastle coped with their physical size in the FAC and took 4 points off them. Stoke have failed to sign Riggott who played well on loan for them second half of last season. Look similar to Derby to me. ref Bolton - No UEFA cup this season should give them a few more points. The point I made about the bet is that its value at 11/4, its not a banker, but doesn't have to be at 11/4. I suspect Skybet withdrew it, because they thought the same as me. |

| I'll be keeping a close eye on League Two betting for next season as I'm a Bradford fan. Now two of the big spenders in our league have been promoted - Posh and MK Dons - only Darlington are rich boys in this division so most of the other teams will be working off a similar budget. Odds have just come out with Darlington and Gillingham heading the market at 10/1 (these are all best odds available by the way). Beaten play off finalists Rochdale are 14/1. I'm not making a final betting decision until I see more transfers but being biased I really fancy our chances of automatic promotion this season and will most likely be backing Bradford each-way if we make the right signings. We've had a poor season but there are reasons for this. Firstly, manager McCall was not appointed until late last summer - when the best players in the division had already been snapped up. McCall had to quickly settle in, he didn't have time to scout new players and relied on recommendations to assemble his squad. He also didn't know how good many of the existing players were at the club (they were crap as all the fans knew) and gave them one final chance to show their worth. They disappointed. Remember, this is McCall's first job in management, so it was always going to take him time to learn the job. However, Neil Warnock gave him a glowing reference when he first joined (he was assistant to him in the Prem of course) and with the backing of the fans he should have what it takes to lead us to promotion. After Christmas, our form improved and I think we would have finished in the play-offs based on our form in 2008 when he finally got things sorted. The main reason we suffered last season was because of a shortage of goals. Once Peter Thorne reached full fitness last year he ended up bagging 15 goals - but he missed far too many games early on in the year. Rumours are rife in Bradford about who we will be signing and ultimately the new signings will determine whether we are a value bet at 12/1 (Betfred). Darren Moore has supposedly held talks (mates with McCall and our assistant Jacobs - they are both devout Christians) but he is supposedly holding out for a better offer bearing in mind he has just dropped out of the Prem and we pay third division wages. Luke Beckett, Michael Boulding and Chris Brandon have all been made offers. Beckett is on holiday and is mulling over a move, Boulding is now in talks with Rotherham and probably holding out for a move to League One whilst Brandon is supposedly holding out for a deal at Chesterfield. One man who will not be joining us is Garry Thompson, one of the best wingers in the division. He has rejected a more lucrative offer at Bradford to join Scunthorpe to play in a higher division. I'll be coming back on here nearer to the start of the division once I've looked over all of the summer transfers. But if City sign Beckett and Brandon then I could see our odds being clipped in from 12's. Thorne and Beckett (if signed) could prove a real handful at this level next season. ![]() Last edited by fintron; 29-05-2008 at 10:28. |

| This is an example using the following odds Reading 9/1, each way betting at 1/4 of the odds Leicester 6/1, each way betting at 1/4 of the odds Bradford 10/1 each way betting at 1/4 of the odds If all three win their leagues £40 x 9/1 (Reading) = £360 + £40 stake = £400 (stake which then goes on Leicester). £400 x 6/1 = £2,400 + £400 stake = £2,800 to then go on Bradford. £2,800 x 10/1 = £28,000 + £2,800 stake = £30,800 --------------------- If all three finish in the places i.e top 4 of their divisions Quarter of Reading odds = 2.25/1 quarter of leics odds = 1.5/1 quarter of bfd odds = 2.5/1 £40 x 2.25 (Reading odds) = £90 + £40 stake = £130 £130 x 1.5 = £195 + 130 stake = £325 £325 x 2.5 = £812.5 + 325 = £1137.5 If all win their leagues you would win both the win and each way parts of the bet. Hope this helps. Last edited by fintron; 29-05-2008 at 22:36. |

[/quote]Got to say have to agree with this mate. Beckett is still a quality player who still finds the net consistantly at the lower levels and he`s one i`ll be backing for division top scorer if he moves. |

| Having seen Sheff Utd at the back end of last season I can see them having a strong season. Providing they manage to keep Beattie, Sharp and Hulse upfront and keep them fit and well they will have probably the most potent strike force. I dont think they will be a pretty side to watch but Blackwell has tightened them up at the back big style and I think they will prove to be a tough side to beat next season. I`ll have a look at who they bring in and let go over the summer but they`re a side I fancy to be well up there next season. |

| Another bet i`ll be looking at is for Robert Earnshaw to be top scorer. With the money Forest have spent he is a defo starter for them and with his record down at the championship level He`s someone i`ll defo be looking at. |

| Been chatting to my manager at work (Corals) and we are going to do decent bet for the anti-post. The idea being 2 teams from the: Prem Champ Div1 Div2 SPL plus La Liga, French league and Dutch league. 16 teams and perm maybe 6 or 7 or 8. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Prem- Chelsea/Utd Champ- Birmingham/Reading (norwich could be a danger with this billionaire taking over) Div 1- Leeds/Carlise Div 2- Gillingham/Rochdale SPL - Celtic/Rangers

| If Man Utd can keep hold of Ronaldo then I'll be backing them, especially since Jose is trying to pinch and unsettle Chelsea's stars. In the Championship I thought of backing Derby - the manager has proven track record of getting teams out of the division and they have been planning for the forthcoming season since Christmas probably! Made a few decent signings too. In League One I thought Southend looked big at 20/1 but Leeds are probably the sensible bet. Now they don't start with a 15 point deduction they should be in the top six all season and I expect them to go up automatically. In League Two I'll be backing my own team, Bradford, but only if we sign a proven goalscorer. Deals for Michael Boulding and Luke Beckett look dead in the water but Chris Brandon, Paul Arnison and Graeme Lee have all signed from higher division clubs and are top signings for a club at our level. I'm wary of backing teams dropping down from League One last year as none of Rotherham, Bradford, Brentford or Chesterfield finished in the top three this season just gone and Gillingham are hardly much better than any of those relegated sides were. Rochdale are a decent side, their little midfielder called David Perkins is one of the best players in the division, and they should probably make the play-offs again. They took a while to get going this season though. If I don't back Bradford I'll probably go for Darlington. The manager knows what he's doing, they've got one of the best squads in the division and they have the luxury of a wealthy chairman to go to in January if they need to strengthen. |

| I would look at the conference as well Carl, possibly only 4 teams capable of winning it. Will try to see whay I can find out but the likes of Stevenage / Torquay / Cambridge / Oxford shoudl be up there amongst it. Depends on the 2 that went down Mansfield & Wrexham but its very hard to bounce straight back up.

Celtic will retain there title yet again in the SCOTTISH PL, and either Man Utd or Chelsea in the EPL, if I was pushed have to back Man Utd again ![]() Liverpool have about as much chance of actually winning the EPL as the Pope has of being caught in a sex scandel with Ann Widdecombe.
