| The idea of this Thread is to identify who you think will win various leagues or competitions next season , why you think this , and the odds available at the moment cheers ![]() |

| I will get the ball rolling by going for Celtic at evens to win the Scottish League because the only player i think Celtic will lose for next season is Artur Boruc and if he goes it will be for around the £10 million mark which will give Celtic the funds to strengthen the squad Rangers on the other hand have a fairly ageing squad - weir , dailly , etc and i cant see these players playing on for another season . Also Rangers are set to lose players such as Cuellar and Cousin to Premiership teams so this will be a big blow and i can just see Celtic snatchin the league , with odds at evens i think this will be a very good bet ![]() |

| tbh sean, Rangers have made a fortune this season with reaching domestic cupfinals, group stages of the champions league, £9M from spurs for hutton and reaching the uefa cup final - which as we cashed in on 5 years ago, is worth millions in merchandise. Smith will have money to spend no doubt in the summer and god forbid boruc goes ( we lost 7 points in december the few games he was out ) Id say there is better value lumping on celtic now @ 13/8 for this season rather than waiting for 10 months on an even money investment.

| To be honest, I always wait until the morning of the first day of the season before I put antepost football bets on. You dont know how much cash each club is going to spend, how many players they will buy/sell etc so putting antepost bets up now is rather stupid. West Brom to stay up does look tasty though ![]()

| Yeah exactly think its too hard to pick now.. the playoffs havent even gt underway yet anyway so dunno what league everybodys going to be in. I say this because if leeds dont go up via the playoffs, then i would have to put them as favourites to go up as champions next season. Add this to the fact that we dont know which teams are going to spend the most yet and which players they are going to buy, and its basically a lottery at the minute |

| Arsenal 2nd In Premiership- to be fair they played excellent football this season until there sudden collapse, Wenger looking to strengthen in defence so can see them pushing Chelsea/ Man Utd Close. Stoke- Relegated, dont think i need reasoning for this can never see them staying up there on terms with Derby i feel! Chelsea- Champions- I know people will say same old Chelsea fans being bias but i feel that Rijkaard will take over and lead us to our 3rd title, if we get a decent right back, alves or ramos and dont lose Drogba we have every chance! Now to some Quick Bets. Man Utd- Champions League Winners. QPR- Automatic Promotion to Premiership ![]() |

Thing is that Arsenal were strong primarily when Hleb, fabs and Flamini all playing together they showed some weakness without... now of course they have G. Silva and are very much guaranteed to spend some $$$ replacing their midfield however really with no idea about how well this will all go one may feel they may finish anywhere from 2nd-6th perhaps 1st as their attack will surely develop assuming Van Persie, Adebayor and Walcott all keep up without injuries...... not only this Chelsea and Man Utd will perform well and surely Liverpool will improve (I feel like I say this every season recently) and with teams like Everton and Man city gaining ground (somewhat) there seem to be too many variables with Arsenal to say... assuming they get their act together and successfully gel their new midfield you may very well be right...

| had a hard think on that today - wether zidane etc.. know how to get out of the championship is irrelevant, the fact is there is billions in behind qpr just now and any sign of the dosh being splashed by ecclestone will show he's buying into the prem. I Remember the sudden flurry on chelsea a couple of years ago from 7/1 into near evns when the pounds where flashed, there maybe some value in this bet at this early stage.

| Is there spread betting anywhere available for the number of yellow cards next season? Just thinking with the new ruling that is being brought in to place where only the captain can talk to the ref, we will see a fair few players getting the wrong end of a yellow card for talking back to the ref. Anyone think this will be worth looking at? Or will the bookies already have covered themselves sufficiently to account for this? |

| Newcastle to finish highest out of the Northeast clubs @ 4/5 seems good value at SkyBet, they look like they're getting some stability and providing Owen and Martins stay they should get at least a top half finish. Also Ronaldo to be top scorer @ 7/2 and Torres to be top scorer @ 9/2 at Skybet, it's bound to be one of them. Last edited by aaron1629; 13-05-2008 at 17:16. |

| Good point from Nastro above, and another about QPR. Any early bets before transfers are reality and EC 2008 is over seem far too vague to me. In England to monitor the top 4 is always paying off, but it is hard to find a tempting one at high odds. IMO it would be better to watch clubs like NUFC, Spurs, Villa, Everton where transfers would make a lot of difference, plus the relegation candidates, target odds above 10/1? Plenty of various choices will be offered on these clubs.... Elsewhere Italy will be a place for some bets for me before the season. More teams are now playing open and offensive. I am planning some time in July to open a thread about this, as I am sure stats and the expected transfers will make my point stronger and hopefully profitable. Even Italian Serie B becomes more open, on many weeks more goals were scored there than in Holland 2 and Bundesliga 2. Just hope it becomes a steady trend...
