Some shortish writeups...

Elfsborg – Sundsvall
No bet
Last round saw the first real shocker of the season as Ljungskile beat Elfsborg 1-0 at home. Elfsborg have a lot of injuries. I don’t trust them at the moment, and I don’t think they’re worthy of odds of 1.55 even against lowly but hard-fighting Sundsvall. I’m probably staying away from this one.

Kalmar – Hammarby
Kalmar to win
Kalmar are leading the table and look as gritty and well-organised as ever even if most of their games so far have been against “easy” teams. Hammarby have been far from impressive and should consider themselves very lucky to have won three out of five. They will miss midfielder Erkan Zengin who, while not brilliant, does add some flare to an otherwise pretty dull line-up. I reckon Kalmar wins this one. They usually do, and they’re full of confidence at the moment. Besides, Hammarby is bad on the road.

Gefle – Örebro
Gefle to win
Örebro seems a somewhat improved side compared to last year, particularly defensively, but Gefle away is probably too big a task for them. Gefle have had a tough schedule so far and need their first home win badly. Simply put, they have to win most of their home games or face relegation and they know it. No injuries in either team.

Helsingborg – Norrköping
Helsingborg AH -1,5
Helsingborg have outplayed their opponents but only have two wins to show for it. They’ve been sloppy in defence and inefficient in attack. Against Hammarby they even missed a penalty kick. They will be in a vengeful mood today. Norrköping have looked pretty naïve in the first rounds. Last years winner of Superettan apparently thought they could dominate teams in the higher division the same way as they did in Superettan. Now, old hand Sören Cratz has been brought in as manager. He understands the importance of disciplined defence. He doesn’t have much to work with, however, as Norrköping neglected to bring in quality defenders before the season. If Helsingborg finally get their act together they could easily win by a few.

bad habit...
they are also missed penalty in 1st round vs halmstad (ended 1-1).
hennrik larsson failed to bring victory to his team in 87th...

Thanks, Nicko!
Not so lucky with my other picks. Helsingborg lost two key defensive players to injuries within the first 12 minutes. They're down 0-1 and don't look like coming back. I went 2-1 in Superettan, though.

Today’s games are trickier than they may look, although I must admit, despite being an AIK fan, that 2.12 (Betsafe) is very decent value on a home win for Göteborg. AIK are slow starters and have yet, IMO, to come up with a working game plan. They look kind of tentative at times on the pitch, and Göteborg are masters at exploiting other team’s weaknesses and mistakes. I also like Trelleborg. They’re a better team than last year thanks to the great work of manager Tom Prahl. Ljungskiles’ win against Elfsborg was a great moment for them, and I’m sure there will be others, but I still don’t think they will able to do well on a regular basis, particularly not away from home. Djurgården should win, although it’s never easy against a team with GAIS work ethic. Halmstad – Malmö looks wide open. Malmö is better and have a good record in Halmstad, but they just seem to lack the proper winning mentality.

For suspended players, there's this:
http://www.svenskfotboll.se/t2all.aspx?p=288852

As far as injuries, AIK are missing a bunch of players, as they have all season. Djurgården missed a few against Örebro, but most are coming back now. GAIS still miss Richard Ekunde, a great defender. Per Johansson (Halmstad) is missing. Suspensions on Aubynn (Malmö) and Bjurström (Trelleborg).
