| No time for big write-ups, only approx. 30 minutes until kick-off. 2nd division: Follo - Sprint/Jeløy The home team has since the beginning of the season been counted as a promotion contender. So far their results has been average only, but in the latest two they have shown that form is in progress, by winning clearly against tough opposition. Today, three key players return to the squad after injuries which makes them even more dangerous. Sprint has surprised this year with playing strong footy. Still, their last three has been without a win. They are especially strong at home, mainly because of a home ground that is at best average. When playing away their stat is 1-1-4 and getting worse. They have three key players missing today, the coach says he has good replacements, but I am not believing him seeing them as many teams relying on their important ones. Follo for me today... | Tippeligaen: Strømsgodset - Brann On wednesday, Godset made it through to the quarters in the cup. They did it with good play, and led 3-0 after 1st half, ten relaxed a bit and it ended 3-2 in the end. Tonight, it is back to the league. At home, 5-1-2 is very good in this tight league. At their home ground they have manifestend themself as a feared force which demands respect. Sadly for them, they lost two key players with injury on wednesday, midfielder Komlan Amewou and centre-back Inge Andre Olsen. Also wing-back Joel Riddez is suspended. Still, I see them getting a good line-up when knowing which players who will replace them, Alexander Aas and Andre Bergdølmo in defence and probably Fredik Norkvelle in the midfield. One reason why I believe in them today is that their attacking force showed great form, striker David Nielsen (netted 2 goals), winger Mattias Andersson and Stian Ohr was a constant threat to Vikings defence. A notion I believe they will continue to build on. Brann on the other is in a major turbulent period, beating Ventspils with marginal numbers in the CL qual, sacking of their assistant coach, plus many rumours about head coach Mons Ivar Mjelde should retire. On top of that, their players have been extremely poor lately. Yet, they beat poor Ham/Kam 4-1 at home in their last league game, where they led 2-1 until the 87th minute. Also there is squad worries, four players are out today, Kristjan Sigurdsson, Jan Gunnar Solli, Gylfi Einarsson and 2nd goalie Kennteh Udjus are all out. Especially Sigurdsson and Solli are important players. To top the turmoil issue, coach Mjelde stated on their homepage (reading between the lines) that the team will have Marseille on the coming midweek as the most important game of the year so far, but he will still use his best players today. Interpret it for yourself... A week ago they decided to sell their best striker Thorstein Helstad to Le Mans, and no replacement has been bought, the fans are angry, it has created inner turmoil, and heavy managment speculations in Brann will give Godset a golden opportunity beating Brann today. And I still haven`t mentioned Branns problems on playing matches on artificial grass, and they came home after a long travel after the Ventspils match on Thursday. Home win, with medium++ stakes... | The artificial grass was ready just before this season, so the 4-2 result was on natural grass. Yes, that is correct. There is a major discussion in Norway concerning the use of artificial grass, many players, including Bakke, complains of injury issues every time they play on it. A good example is when Viking had to rest three key players on wednesday after one work-out on Strømsgodsets stadium the day before... |
