I`d suggest Tatterstalls, Paul. Where jeans/trainers etc will be ok for those that want to wear them.

I`d expect Sandown Members/Club enclosure to be pretty strict towards their dress codes on what`s a fairly big meeting for them.

I've been in both. I prefer Members, it's dearer but you are near the winning post & have plenty of room in the stand & bars etc. There is an excellent bar at the top of the stand with great viewing of the course, tote betting & a large bar.
If you go in Tatt's you have to leave the bar to watch the racing, only a thought. The Tatts bars can get a bit busy on a Saturday.

Members is a bit dearer, i'll leave it up to the boss. What we dont need is the usual 73 yo official turning you away for wearing white trainers!

I'll be amazed if people are all wearing shirt, trousers and shoes so maybe members might not be the best choice?

Dont think you can take beers outside (not sure as some courses did relaxx this rule?) so if you stay in the bar you have to watch on the TV screens etc but large tote facilities & corals shop in the grandstand so no probs there.

I tend to use the rails bookies so dont mind running a few bets (for commission of course )

After my experience @ a normal bar @ Huddersield last year (I was refused entrance for having just normal black sports shoes), I'll have both sports shoes/trainers and leather shoes with me for sure.

Although it may well be busier, I think Tatts enclosure might be better as last thing we want is someone forgetting about dress code and not getting in.

Think we should go tatts.

I dont mind shirt shoes etc but its unfair to expect all 30+ people to turn up dressed like they are going for a formal dinner

Yep, put me down (now I'm a man of leisure) - will travel down by car Saturday a.m. (its just along the M3 for me) and would like a room for the Saturday night if thats possible (collect my car Sunday back at the racecourse as I assume I won't be fit to drive after the races - though hoping I'll be fit enough to play some non too serious poker ).

We're staying in London Phillosify, so that would mean you getting a train back to Sandown to get your car.

Let me know what you want to do.

The trains no problem (even if Eshers closed on Sundays? I think I can get there - have sent racecourse a note to make sure I can leave my car there overnight ) - I did think of going up to London on the Friday but aren't convinced that my constitution is up to two nights boozing - besides that its a "working evening" in my first financial quarter .

p.s if anyones going from this part of the world - Southampton, Winchester then feel free to cadge a lift.

As I've just told Paul, I've only just noticed that this is on a Saturday
this time, and I hope to make it, but will confirm in the next couple of
days.

It will be the first time I've been racing since I was a kid.

I don`t think so MrV. I emailed him not long after the Heads Up and he said he`s already got plans for that day.
