Question to ask here.

Are all Celtic fans Irish? They always have the tricolour wherever they are but there never seems to be any Scotland flags with them. Are they ashamed to be Scottish when I have no doubt in my mind that the majority of them are or are they like the Asian youth of today and consider themselves the nationality of their great great great great grandparents.
Surely some Celtic fans are born in Scotland.

Who cares about flags and nationalities ? the only thing that matters is that Celtic are the Scottish champions for the third time in a row.

Quality shone though in the end.

Have to disagree with that Rangers were fatigued in the end after playing in a quality competition where as Celtic only had the league to play for.As for 3 in a row come back when there is 1 in front of the 3

Excuses Ted, excuses. Celtic had a similar run when they reached the uefa cup final. They still came back and managed to beat Rangers at Ibrox, and Killie 0-4 away in the last day. Edged out in goal difference. Rangers lack quality. I think most people know this.

Well... if I had been offered a cup double, UEFA cup final and second in the SPl at the beginning o the season then I would have snapped your hand off.

I am proud of my team this season.

One or two new faces and I am sure that next season will be a different story....

Rangers scraped past part timers today and in the end I think, my saying 'Celtic are by FAR the better team' will be justified.

The fact Celtic had Donati for the 1st half of the season, well it was like starting with 10 men. Robson has since came in, alongside Hartley and proved what Scottish football is all about. Alot of these foreigners cannot handle it, as its all about "Get stuck in".

The fact Rangers fans somehow still think Barry Ferguson is a world class midfielder bemuses me. He is far from it. He may shine in the low class games, (a bit like Kris Boyd) but away from that he is a shambles. I still say I would rather him to be out the Scotland squad altogether as he is quite frankly one of the most overrated players ive ever heard of.

And although Big Gaz says im biased, im far from it. In the Celtic end, I think Vennegoor is very overrated (despite his last gasp goals to keep things alive)... alongside Hinkel who seems to be a bit of a dud signing imo.... I am not taking no sides but when you hear Rangers fans rating Kris Boyd next to Scott McDonald you know they have lost the plot.... McDonald is in a completely different class to Boyd and the fact Rangers are after Kenny Miller, well it looks like 10 in a row for the Bhoys could well become a reality...

I completely agree mate. Lets get down to sensible discussion. Celtic have the far better side and Rangers have only got to where they have this season, due to negative tactics and 'Pure Luck'

The Rangers mob will obviously disagree but we all know its true.

Agreed too!

Celtic play far better football!

Rangers = ugly football!

Playing 4-5-1 in the SPL is a bit of joke!? I can understand aginist Celtic but playing teams like Killie / Grenta / St Mirian / Hearts - home and away 451 is it any wonder you finished 2nd!

I can assure you there is a VERY high percentage of the Celtic fan base whom are proud Scots.

The reason for the high number of tri colours at Celtic games comes down to the fact that the founder of this prestigious club was indeed an Irish man known as Brother Walfrid.

The clubs official records state that the club was formed by this Irishman as a way of alleviating 'poverty in Glasgows East Ends Parishes"..(Fans of Wikipedia can check this to make sure I am correct )

I think alot of Celtic fans show a strong support for Ireland and wave tricolours at games to show their respect and support for the Irishman that created the club they love so much....I do not believe it has anything to do with Celtic fans being "ashamed of being Scottish" as you put it, if there is any at all who feel this way I can assure you it is a very very small number

Hope this answers your question to some extent

I know of no Scottish Celtic fan that is ashamed to be Scottish. Absolutely none.
And I would assume living in Glasgow, and being Scottish, I would know more Celtic supporters than yourself David.
Its mainly because as SB's pointed out, the past, and not due in any small manor to the fact theyr also Celtics team colours
I could imagine far less would be carrying the flags had Celtic still been from Ireland, but they played in Purple!! Look at hibs, theyr also from Ireland.

The league does not tell us that Ranges played 8 games in May compared to Celtic's 3...

I am not debating the outcome of the league - but in some instances I do believe, that the league DOES NOT paint a full picture...

Rangers won only 1 game away from home against the top six all season so I don't think there's any gurantees that had you played any less games in May it would have made much difference, you couldn't beat Aberdeen or Motherwell earlier in the season away from home.
